Yuva Saptah 2022


NSS Department at Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune very enthusiastically organized and celebrated “Yuva Saptah '' ie: Youth Week at Kaveri College from 12th to 16th January 2022. On the occasion of Swami Vivekanand’s 159th Birth Anniversary, various activities, workshops, events and programs were arranged and successfully executed by the students with the proper guidance by teachers at college.


The Yuva Saptah was graciously inaugurated by Principal Dr. Ashok Agrawal. He introduced everyone with the fact that every year the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekanand is celebrated on 12th January, as National Youth Day in our country. He said India is referred to as the Country of Young People and this day is dedicated to the youth as Swami Vivekanand and his thoughts have always proved very enlightening for everyone to lead an ethical and successful life. He proudly mentioned that Swami Vivekanand was a high end philosopher, reformer and a boon to India and his teachings are truly a treasure for everyone. Vice Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar too shared her views regarding the significance of Yuva Din and the purpose of having the entire Yuva Saptah at Kaveri College.    


On 12th January, on the inauguration of Yuva Saptah, a lecture on the topic “Swami Vivekananda's Message to Youth” by Dr. Shirish Limaye was organized. In the session, he explained to the audience how character building is enhanced by combining growing self-confidence and strong will and hard work through education. He emphasized the importance of hard work, saying that hard work is the key to success in life. He provided excellent guidance on how to coordinate challenges and skills. He concluded by saying that concentration can lead to goal attainment. 


On 13th January, day 2 of Yuva Saptah,  Dr. Dilip Patwardhan guided the students on 'Key to Success'. He said that in order to motivate the students for a bright future, it is important not only to achieve success but also to bring happiness and satisfaction to all through that success. He said that a healthy diet, exercise, sleep and positive emotions are very important for a person to live a good life. Inspiring the students about study and knowledge, he gave the mantra of reading, comprehension and repetition. He suggested ways to acquire knowledge through group discussions.


In further days, the NSS Department of the college had organized various activities and campaigns from 14th to 17th January. In this, 'Road Safety Campaign' was successfully implemented near Paud Phata and Deccan Corner near the main signal areas. In this campaign, following the rules of covid, the students presented various slogans and placards for public awareness and for the implementation of safety rules by all, and undertook a campaign for the people of Pune to follow the rules of road safety.


Students conducted 'Consumer’s Awareness Drive' near Big Bazaar at Kothrud in Pune. Under this Consumer’s Awareness Drive, Consumer Awareness was created by providing information on various rights and consumer forums to the consumers. The students created awareness among the masses by implementing the 'De-addiction Campaign' at Nalastop and explained its disadvantages. On 17th January, 'Covid-19 vaccination campaign' was implemented in the college. In this, the citizens who are eligible for booster dose and first and second dose were vaccinated following the safety rules of Covid-19. Many students, parents and senior citizens benefited from this vaccination campaign. 


The Youth Week concluded with a lecture inspired by the volunteers to participate in the concept of Healthy Maharashtra. Mr. Onkar Pattewar, CEO, P.Ford Pharmaceuticals under the concept of 'Healthy Maharashtra' gave a brief overview of the omicron virus and also explained the reasons behind the rapid increase in the number of patients. He also explained to the students the precautions to be taken during epidemic diseases. He appealed to the students to abide by the rules laid down by the medical department during the epidemic as a responsible citizen. The lectures were conducted on an online platform. A large number of students, teachers, parents and other working professionals participated in these sessions.


Prof. Nilesh Nemade, NSS Program Officer of the College and APO Prof. Sujata Bachhav encouraged the students to volunteer for the programme.. The volunteers of Kaveri College successfully carried out the Youth Week by registering their active participation in every event of the Youth Week.
