4-Days National Level Kaveri Lecture Series Conducted by Kaveri College

Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune had organized a 4-Day National Level Kaveri Lecture Series on the theme ‘Industry-Youth Connect’ on an online platform.

The objective of the lecture series was to connect the young adults with Industry and give them exposure on the industry expectations from youth. Four days lecture series included topics like scope for the employment opportunities in different fields, Scope of Entrepreneurship and skills needed for the same and technological advancement and artificial Intelligence in Commerce and Management Skills the young adults must possess.


The Department of Commerce has initiated this Programme under the leadership of Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Principal and support from Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice Principal. It also received speakers for 4 days under the guidance of CMA Abhay Deodhar, Ex- Vice Chairman, ICMA, Pune.  Skillslate Foundation, MTC Global and Global Entrepreneurs Grid, Bengaluru were the academic partners. Dr. Deepa Sathe, Head of Department of Commerce was the Programme coordinator and anchor for all 4 days.


First day was inaugurated at the hands of Shri. Kushal Hegde, President – Kannada Sangha, Pune with his gracious presence and address to the participants. Mr. Sudhir Gogate, Executive Director of Indo-Japanese Joint Venture, Hitachi Astemo Fie Pvt Ltd, Pune. He was a Chief Guest of the Inauguration ceremony and addressed the students as a keynote speaker at the first day of the National Level Kaveri Lecture Series. His expertise in manufacturing industry and experiences from various fields have made students aware of various learnings which specifically includes Diverse Opportunities in the various sectors. The major learning includes, one can be successful if the passion and dream turns into a career along with domain knowledge and necessary multi skills. Especially listening skill together with other soft and hard skills is the need of an hour. Mentioning his learning experience from the Japanese Organization has made the students take more interest during the lecture. His concluding note on taking initiative for better tomorrow through a small video was the peak moment of the learnings. The interaction with participants at the concluding session is the best outcome of the entire program and in a way acknowledgement of active participation!

 

On Second day, CA Harsh Agarwal, Director Audit, SRBC and Co was invited as a guest speaker on the topic– ‘Artificial Intelligence in Auditing’. He has rich experience of more than 15 years in Audit and Assurance including audit services to manufacturing and service sectors. Students had major takeaways, which includes the concept of Artificial Intelligence, how it is used effectively in the domain of Auditing, Use of Robotics in banking & manufacturing companies. He emphasized that AI or Robotics will not really replace humans but will definitely help make the work more accurate and accessible, as technology reduces the risk of errors. During the presentation, he also narrated the role of a Digital Auditor who should reflect a good mind set, maximum use of capabilities and approach. He advised the students to upscale themselves on AI through online learning platforms and suggested that the university curriculum should have scope for subjects like artificial intelligence in accounting and auditing. The session ended well with the interaction and the Q&A coming from the students of commerce across colleges in India. Students have shared immediate feedback that it was truly a session of utmost benefit to them, enhancing their knowledge and perspective about AI or Robotics in fusion with Accounting and Audit.

On the third day, Ms. Deepti Chandrachud, Director – Marketing, Kwality Paints & Coatings Pvt Ltd was invited as a guest speaker to talk on the topic: Entrepreneurship – Today and tomorrow. Participants have enjoyed her talk and had major takeaways which includes the history of Kwality Paints establishments, the founder’s efforts and vision creating such a big organization which believes in Innovation, Creativity, Quality Consciousness throughout all the dynamics in business. Her journey as a second-generation entrepreneur is worth appreciating and made the students understand how the entrepreneur should be able to bring Mechanization, Unique concept in production line, empowering women employees at work as well as bringing work and customer satisfaction in the business. Her experience sharing during her visits to Japan and China have been the peak point of the entire session. She also shared a lifetime experience of receiving a Scholarship from Toyota Motors- Japan and her visit at Tahara Plant which is the largest plant & some details about the same. She shared her new product launch during pandemic and her entry in the other vertical during pandemic is the key success of her organization under her leadership. She truly is a role model for all young adults being a successful woman entrepreneur. The student’s interaction and their relevant questions related to Water base colour techniques in your production, your new product, expanding customer base and creating an ecosystem for sustainability as well as empathetic attitude towards workers well-being was the key highlights of the entire session. 

On the last day of Kaveri Lecture Series, CA Satchidanand Ranade, Founder & Sr. partner of SPJV & Co. Arbitrator on NSE Pune Bench, Ex- Director Pune Stock Exchange was invited as a Guest Speaker for the topic – ‘Management Lessons from Cricket’. Students across India have participated in large numbers during this event. His insights on Managerial skills have made the students aware of several virtues which are essential for a successful career. Takeaway includes creating an ecosystem within an organization for a sustainable environment and bringing supremacy, team building & balancing, ethics & principles, and respect for each other across the organization. During his presentation, he gave examples of various record making and record-breaking cricketers like- Captain Lloyd, Kapil Dev, Muralidharan, Sachin Tendulkar, etc, and explained the exceptional roles played by them in their respective challenges in cricket, and how the same kind of strategies and ideologies if applied in management, it would definitely lead to huge success.

Overall, this National Level Kaveri Lecture Series received a huge response from more than 58 colleges / institutions from India and outside India and received 2000+ registrations. It also received an attendance of more than 1000 participants on zoom and You Tube Live lectures. All the participants were issued certificates of participation.
