Two-day workshop on topics, The Constitution of India and Inter-age Bonding



Lifelong Learning and Extension Unit of Kaveri College of Arts, Science & Commerce in association with Savitribai Phule Pune University arranged Two-day workshop on the topics The Constitution of India and Inter-age Bonding on 14 and 15 December 2018. Dr. Ashok M. Agrawal, Principal, Kaveri College inaugurated the workshop and in his inaugural speech, he said that India is blessed to have the best Constitution in the world and that the onus lies with the younger generation to keep it intact and respect it.
Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice Principal, Mrs. Pooja Amole, Coordinator, Lifelong Learning and Extension Unit, were also present on the occasion.  

On the first day of the workshop renowned poet, writer Prof. Shriranjan Awate spoke on the topic ‘The Philosophical Background of the Constitution of India.’ He began by explaining the definition of the ‘State’ and its aspects such as Territory, Population, Government and Sovereignty. He discussed the different phases of the making of India which includes the colonial rule, Indian renaissance, India’s political response, role of Indian National Congress and above all Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s huge contribution in the making of the
Constitution.

In the second session Advocate Shalaka Despande discussed the Constitution of India from the point of view of Competitive Exams. She explained the nature of questions related to the Indian Constitution that can be asked in UPSC and MPSC exams. She discussed the Cabinet System of the Government, the Preamble of the Constitution, difference between Right and Duties among other aspects of the Indian Constitution.
  

The first session of the Second day, Mr.J.P.Desai of Jansewa Foundation explained the importance of relationships and love in the family. He also highlighted the importance of elderly people in the family. In the second session, Dr. Nidhi Mishra talked about 'Inter-Generation Bonding' and 'Aging with Dignity' and also made the students aware of old age and problems to old age.


The workshop received great response from the students. Prof. Shweta Bhagat Compered the program and Prof. Pooja Ambole presented a vote of thanks.

Kaveri College organizes 'Dnyan-Vidnyan Vachan Chalwal' Lecture series



    
Bahishal Shikshan Mandal of Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce and Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) jointly organized “Dnyan ViDnyan Vachan
Chalwal” Lecture Series from 6th December to 8th December, 2018.  Renowned speakers— Dr.Nanasaheb Pawar, Dr Rupali Sheth, Dr. Pandurang Kand were invited to guide the students. Dr. Ashok M. Agrawal, Principal, Kaveri College inaugurated the lecture series and said that “One who reads Leads”. He also guided the students on the importance of reading books and urged them to read more books and inculcate that knowledge and wisdom in their own respective lives.  

In the first session, on 6th December 2018 Dr. Nanasaheb Pawar spoke on the book ‘
Krishnakath ,The Autobiography of Sri Yeshwantrao Chavan. He said that through this book Yeshwantrao Chavan explored his journey as a small child from Karhad to First Chief Minister of Maharashtra and defense minister of India. Dr. Pawar also guided the gathering on the importance of reading.
Dr Rupali Sheth gave session on 7th December 2018 on the book “Adhunik Bharat  by Achary Jawadekar”. Also, madam focused on the mentality of today’s youth and said that Education is the key to the  progress and development of any country so invest your knowledge in the development of your own country.
In the third session, Dr. Pandurang Kand spoke on the book “Hati Jyanchya Shunya Hote  by 
Arun  Shewate”. He gave examples of  Abraham Linkan, Abdul Kalam, Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil, Nilu Phule, Arun Date, BaBasaheb Purandare etc. Sir explained students that – Everyone is born with special qualities. But, these qualities are given in the form of potential. It is the duty of everyone to discover this potential and make it an actuality through wise planning. He concluded by saying that there is a Hero Inside Everyone. All the sessions under Bahishal Shikshan Mandal were efficiently managed and conducted by Mrs. Shilpa Khadilkar, Head Bahishal Shikshan Mandal and her team under the able guidance of Dr. Ashok.M.Agrawal.

Ten Day Long Dr. M.R. Jaykar Employability Skill Programme begins at Kaveri College



Kaveri College of arts, Science and Commerce has organized a ten day long Dr. M.R. Jaykar Employability Skill Programme (Formerly Known as SSDP) in association with Savitribai Phule
Pune University (SPPU). The programme will be conducted under Kaveri Skill Development Centre (KSDC) during the months of December 2018 and January 2019. The programme is conducted for the Third Year students of all streams to make them employable by giving them insights into topics such as Goal Setting, Time-Stress-and Anger Management, Communication Skills, Problem Solving, Business Plan and Negotiating Skills, Information/Cyber Security, Bank Finance: Concepts & Formalities, Safe Banking Tips and Guidelines, and Investments, Insurance & Taxes etc.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Principal, Kaveri College. Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice Principal, Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Head, KSDC were also present on the occasion.
The first phase of the programme began on 3rd December 2018 and was conducted in two sessions.
The first session was conducted by Dr. Muckta Karmarakar, Vice Principal, Kaveri College. She spoke on the topic Goal Setting and SWOT.  She guided the students on the objectives of goal setting, its importance, how to set goals and also how to achieve them. She urged the students to come out of comfort zone and advised them to say ‘I am committed’instead of saying ‘I am interested’ She discussed the concept of SMART goals with them and also explained S>T>P theory of goals.
Renowned entrepreneur and motivational speaker Dr. Jyoti Gogte was invited as the resource person for the second session.   Dr. Jyoti Gogte, first explained the students about the importance of the business plan in running any business
or enterprise. Dr. Gogte also gave a brief introduction to the students on the topics such as Executive Summary, Market, Organization-Management, Resources, Marketing and Sales, Products or Services, Funding etc. She talked about the importance of Market analysis, Market share, marketing plan and competitive analysis as well. In the end she asked the students to prepare a business plan for their dream-project and all the students very enthusiastically participated and created their business plan. Dr. Gogte reviewed their business plan and gave her inputs.
Both the sessions were very educative and informative and were attended by the students in large number.

KEDC organizes the popular talk show ‘Baatein Entrepreneurs Ki’


Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce had organized a Talk Show ‘Baatein Entrepreneurs Ki’ on 12 December 2018. The lecture was conducted under the Kaveri Entrepreneurship Development Centre (KEDC).
On this occasion, Dr.Ashok Agrawal, Principal, Kaveri College in his address urged the students to explore the entrepreneurial world and make their own mark. Dr. Deepa Sathe, Head, KEDC, informed that KEDC is formed to identify budding entrepreneurs among students and to brace them with necessary skills. The Guest Speakers of the Talk Show were Akshay Khirid- Founder & owner, Global Dialect Language and Training and Shekhar Shide- Pristine Fitness Club. They are an Alumini of Kaveri College with B.Com and BCA degrees respectively.

Principal, Dr. Agrawal and Vice Principal, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar felicitated Jaaee Sawant and Ms. Sanaa Apte from TY B.Com, who have taken their first step towards Entrepreneurship in the Diwali vacations.

The Talk Show began with the success stories of the entrepreneurial ventures of Akshay Khirid and Shekhar Shinde. The journey of starting a business and sustaining it was a rough task for both of them but they asserted that hard-work and determination sailed them through the difficult journey.
Akshay Khirid’s Global Dialect offers training and translation services in many foreign languages like French, German, Chinese, Thai etc. Akshay learned German at Maxmeillur Bhavan and developed a great passion for the language which led him into starting the Global Dialect. Shekhar, on other hand was stressed due to his job timings and work overload which took a serious toll on his health due to negligence. This provoked him to start a fitness club and provide customized fitness packages and diet to his clients. He encouraged the students to push their limits, explore new challenges and pursue their dreams relentlessly

The Talk Show was conducted by Ms. Vaishnvi Deshpande and Akshay Borlikar from FY B.Com.

World Mental Health Day Celebrations at Kaveri College




On October 10, 2018, Kaveri College of Arts, Commerce and Science celebrated the World Mental Health Day by conducting stress busting activities. The theme of programme was Adolescence and Mental Health. Dr. Ashok M. Agrawal, Principal and Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice Principal inaugurated the program. Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Coordinator, Arts, Ms. Karishma Chadha, Ms.
Sonal Bavdekar were also present on the occasion. In his address, Dr. Agrawal said that mental health is of paramount importance in today’s times and one must deal with stress with positive attitude.  Dr. Karmarkar showed concern about young population becoming victims of depression, and other psychological disorders. She urged students to cope with fast changing world in a positive way.

The students of FYB.A. conducted various activities such as Stress Burster, Flash Cards, Happiest Memory Game, Mimic the Conductor, and Submodality Shift Exercise. All these activities helped participant release stress and anxiety, encouraged them to use their motor-skills effectively, and tmade themforget their painful memories. Anushka Deshpande, Jui Patil Tanvi Bachal, Radhika Potdar, and Atharva Kawsankar conducted these activities and were able to get all the participants involved in each activity very effectively. All participants gave positive feedback and insisted on conducting such activities often in the campus.

Kaveri College celebrates 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi



To commemorate 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the NSS department of Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce had organized various activities in the campus during 2nd to 8th October 2018. The activities were planned to make students aware of the Mahatma, his life and his principles which are today more relevant than ever.

On 2nd October, the NSS department showed a documentary on Mahatma Gandhi and his thoughts. Later the NSS volunteers and students took Cleanliness Oath and began with the Cleanliness Drive in the College campus by cleaning the College ground, corridors and nearby areas.  From 3rd to 5th October, a display and Sale of Books on Mahatma Gandhi and his thoughts was arranged in the College library.  This event was organized in association with Gandhi Smarak Nidhi, Gandhi Bhavan, Kothrud, Pune. During this event the College staff and students visited library and purchased these books. On 6th October, the NSS organized ‘No vehicle Day’ and ‘No Horn Day’ in the College. The staff members and students used bicycle and enthusiastically participated in this noble cause.
The NSS volunteers spread awareness about th October, NSS departmentminimizing carbon foot prints during this event. On 8 organized an Exhibition on Mahatma Gandhi & his thoughts by displaying books, posters and Quotes related to the life and times of the Mahatma. The event was inaugurated at the hands of Dr. Ashok M. Agarwal, Principal, Kaveri College.  Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice Principal, Mr. Sachin Deokate NSS Program Officer, Dr. Anand Buddhikot, Student Development Officer, Mr. Nilesh Nemade Asst. NSS Program Officer and NSS committee members were present on the occasion.

Kaveri College successfully organizes an interactive session with World renowned PEN International Writers

As a part of the ongoing 84thPEN International Congress, an interactive session of PEN International writers was organized by Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Art, Science and Commerce on 28thSeptember 2018. 


The world renowned PEN writers, Halina Cieplinska-Binter, Secretary General, PEN Polish Centre, Diana Cousens, poet and photographer, PEN Melbourne Centre, Dr. K.K. Chakravarti, Chairman, Lalit Kala Academy, Linguist and Researcher Dr. Madan Meena, interacted with the students on the theme of ‘Truth, Freedom and Diversity.’ Mr. Kushal Hegde, President, Kananda Sangha, Mrs. Indira Saliyan, Vice President, Kannada Sangha, Mrs. Malati Kalmadi, Secretary, Kannada Sangha, Mrs. Radhika Sharma, Joint Treasurer, Kannada Sangha, Dr. Ashok M. Agrawal, Principal, Kaveri College and Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice Principal Kaveri College, were also present on the occasion.  By their presence about 500 students, invitees, and literature lovers made this programme a huge success.
         
   Halena Cieplinska-Binter in her comparative speech on Mahatma Gandhi and American poet Philosopher, Henry David Thoreau said that Thoreau, the father of Civil Disobedience is forgotten by American society but Mahatma Gandhi who imbibed Civil Disobedience very effectively in the struggle of India’s Independence is still being relevant all over the world. She said it is the most appropriate time to talk about Mahatma Gandhi’s values of Truth and non-violence as the world is in dire need of both.
            Dr. K.K. Chakravarti said that today’s society is driven by media and the onus is now on the youngsters to differentiate between truth and fiction. He said that that writers world over are facing a threat to speak truth but they should not succumb to any pressure and continue speaking the truth and give voice to the voiceless. 

   
         Dr. Madan Meena gave information about the People’s Linguistic Survey of India’ which was a mammoth work carried out under the guidance of Dr. Ganesh Devy. He said that over 780 Indian languages got documented because of the survey and that to save Indian languages such efforts in digitalizing them for posterity is of paramount importance.
            Diana Cousens talked about Mahatma Gandhi’s Inter-faith prayers and she recited her poems about Australian aborigines. 
            It was followed by a question-answer session and students asked varied questions on the topic of the relevance of the values of Truth, Freedom

and Diversity.
            Prof. Sayee Kulkarni compered the program and Dr. Muckta Karmarkar proposed the vote of thanks.   

“Entrepreneurship is not a profession but a responsibility.”: Mr. Ameya Agrawal


  
Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce had organized a lecture on ‘Entrepreneurial Spirit - A winning way of life!’ on 15 September 2018. The lecture was conducted under the Kaveri Entrepreneurship Development Centre (KEDC) and Mr. Ameya Agrawal, the 24 years old author of a National Bestseller, A Leap Within, was invited as the Chief Speaker on the occasion.
            
   An engineer, motivational speaker, an entrepreneurship and writing enthusiast, Mr. Ameya Agrawal shared his various passions such as entrepreneurship, writing, motivating etc., with the students. While explaining the difference between entrepreneurship and enterprising, he said, “Entrepreneurship is not a profession but is a responsibility.” He added that “Network is net-worth” in today’s world, and no business is successful without it. He encouraged the students to push their limits, explore new challenges and pursue their dreams relentlessly. Also, Mr. Agrawal conducted management games for the students to make them understand the concept of ‘the survival of the fittest’ in the business world.
               On this occasion, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice Principal, Kaveri College, urged the students to explore the entrepreneurial world and make their own mark. Dr. Deepa Sathe, Head, KEDC, 
informed the audience that KEDC is formed to identify budding entrepreneurs among students and to brace them with necessary skills. Dr. Sathe also said that KEDC is committed to organize such inspirational sessions and lectures for the students. 
      Vaishnavi Deshpande, FY B.Com(B) compared  and  proposed the vote of thanks. The staff members and students were present in large number for the session.

Dr. Shamrao Kalmadi Memorial State Level Competition Held at Kaveri College



Dr. Shamarao Kalmadi Memorial State Level Elocution Competition was held at Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Pune on 7 September 2018. In its 8th year, the competition has a successful tradition of providing a platform for the students to
hone their oratorical skills, persuasive skills and leadership skills.  

Mr. Kushal Hegde, President, Kannada Sangha, inaugurated the Competition. Mrs. Indira Salian Vice-President, Kannada Sangha, Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Principal, Kaveri College, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice Principal, Mrs. Shweta Bapat, Head, Elocution and Debate Committee, were present on the occasion.
Dr. Rajendra Kumbhar, Professor, Library and Information Science, SPPU was the Chief Guest for the prize distribution ceremony. In his address, he appreciated Kannada Sangha and Kaveri College for providing a big platform to participants and thereby keeping the rich tradition of public oratory alive. 
The Competition received stupendous response from the participants. Hrishikesh Deshpande (COEP) bagged the First prize, which consisted of a Rolling Trophy, Rs. 5000/- Cash prize, Memento and a Certificate. Aboli Dhawde (Fergusson College) and Krishna Tawale (Abasaheb Garware College) were the first and second runners-up respectively. They won Rs. 3000/-, Rs. 2000/- Cash prizes, Mementos and Certificates respectively.  The topics for the Competition were: 1) Plastic and Environment, 2) J.R.D.Tata : A Visionary of Indian Industry, 3) Changing Educational Scenario and Youth, 4)Indian philosophy and Modern India, and 5) Sports , Sportsman and Sportsmanship.

In the impromptu competition, Krishna Tawale won won the First Prize, Yashwant Khade won the Second Prize whereas Imaad Ul Hasan won the Third Prize.
Dr. Supriya Sahastrabuddhe, Dr. Bhalchandra Kaprekar, and Prof. Vaishali Deodhar were the judges for the Competition.
Prof. Bhakti Dandekar compered the programme and Prof. Shweta Bapat proposed the vote of thanks.

Kaveri College of arts, Science and Commerce signs MoU with Dhaka International University

Kannada Sangha Pune's Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dhaka International University on 8 September 2018 at the 8th World Education Summit, Benguluru. The MoU was signed by Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Principal, Kaveri College and Dr. K. M. Mohsin, Principal, Dhaka International University to undertake collaborative research and provide experiential learning opportunities to students.


The MoU was signed in the presence of Hon. Dr. Abdul Mannan Chaudhari, Vice Chancellor, World University of Bangladesh, Mr. Alex, MD, Umass Amherst Global USA, Dr. Bholanath, President, MTC GLOBAL, and other dignitaries.

Both, Kaveri College and International University of Dhaka agreed on opening the platform for joint cooperation in areas of research, academic development, and exchange of teachers and students in coming future.

Tremendous Response for LTI Open Pool Campus Drive at Kaveri College


Open pool campus drive of Larsen & Toubro Infotech, A L&T Group Company was organized by Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce on 31st August 2018. The placement drive was held exclusively for BSc and BCA Students. Total 800 students from all over Maharashtra registered for the drive and among them 250 students were shortlisted. Company delegates Mr. Nikhil Govekar Campus Head & Ms.Priyanka Allen HR Senior Executive Campus Team briefed students about rules & policies of company. Mr. Sachin Takalekar in his address said that LTI wants students as blank slates so that they can write their success story on it. Also they encouraged the students to be confident, and be ready to learn to ride the big data waves. Drive started with a Pre-placement talk later on followed with Online Aptitude, Group Discussion, Paragraph Writing and Personal Round.
       
 Principal   Dr. Ashok. M. Agrawal praised and congratulated the placement head Ms.Pallavi Joshi and her team for their untiring efforts in shaping up careers of the students. The participated students thanked the college for providing them an opportunity. All the company officials appreciated the college management, faculty for organizing this event and congratulated the students for their hardwork, knowledge and confidence.

A Session on ‘Yog, Pranayam and Women’s Health’ at Kaveri College



The Women’s Forum of Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized a session on ‘Yog,Pranayam and Women’s Health’  for the girl students of the College on 24  August 2018. Renowned yoga therapist and practitioner Mrs. Meenal Joshi was invited as the resource person for
guiding the students about the finer concepts of Yogasanas and providing a guideline for enhancing their inner health. Mrs. Manasi Joshi, Head, Women’s Forum Committee  and Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, former Head, Women’s Forum Committee were also present on the occasion.
Mrs. Meenal Joshi, Certified Yoga Teacher from the university of Pune and  a yoga therapist guided the students on women’s health related issues such as  breast cancer ,menstrual problems, infertility, obesity, stress, Osteoporosis , Endometriosis 8, PCOD/ PCOS, Hypertension and Diabetes. In her address, she said that women are the  pillars of the family and society. Her health is very important and she should not ignore it. As women’s bodies become relatively fragile during pregnancies, meditation and Pranayam really help in keeping the body and the mind strong and healthy.
Mrs. Joshi said that Yog and Pranayam cannot be separated. Soothing Pranayam practices cools the body, releases stress and brings inner peace. She also demonstrated different asanas like Tadasana,Uttrasan, Matsyasan, Sarvangasan among others, which are useful to keep women healthy and happy. Regular and sincere practice of Yog and Pranayam will help women cope with their hectic and stressful life and stay healthy.
The program was followed by question and Answer session in which students participated enthusiastically. The programme received an overwhelming response from the students and about 83 girl students across the various streams of the College attended the session and got benefited from it.

“The youth must turn their attention to untapped markets for business opportunities.” — Mr. Sanjay Orpe.


The Kaveri Entrepreneurship Development Centre (KEDC) of Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized an interesting interactive session ‘Tapping…the Untapped’ on 21st August 2018The aim of this session was to make the students aware about the business opportunities in untapped Indian markets
Mr. Sanjay Orpe, Joint Managing Director, Hardikar’s Food Technologies Pvt. Ltd(HFTPL), Pune, was invited as the resource person to share his successful journey in the niche food processing market. Dr. Ashok M. Agrawal, Principal, Kaveri College, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice Principal, Dr. Deepa Sathe, Head, KEDC, were present on the occasion.
Mr. Sanjay Orpe said that there is huge scope for business opportunities for young entrepreneurs in the untapped Indian markets. He shared with the students his successful
entrepreneurial journey by narrating his plunges into various businesses such as HFTPL’s Dehydration Technology, Vedik engineering, Automation, and robotics etc. He also explained to them about the dehydrating techniques of fruits and vegetables, powdering and pulping of Mangoes, Bottle gourds etc. He inspired the students to choose untapped markets for their entrepreneurial dreams and to work with utmost dedication to realize those dreams.
Dr. Ashok M. Agrawal said that the students are tomorrow’s entrepreneurs and he encouraged students by citing the entrepreneurial models of the companies such as Nirlep and Vicco Vajradanti. He urged the students to think out-of-the-box and develop qualities such
as innovative thinking and positive attitude to become successful entrepreneurs. 
Dr, Deepa Sathe explained the purpose behind the formation of KEDC. She said that KEDC is formed to motivate the budding student entrepreneurs and to develop necessary entrepreneurial skills in them. She encouraged students to come forward with their innovative business plans and promised required assistance to make their business plans viable.
The session received huge response from the students. The students from COEP, SP College, Shahu College also attended the session. In question and answer session, the students asked many questions regarding the newer initiatives in the food Processing Industry, job opportunities, success-rate in untapped businesses, etc.

Industrial Visits Organized by Kaveri College




Kannada Sangha’s Kevari College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune organized an Industry Visit for the students of BBA and BBA IB on 11 August 2018. Under the valuable guidance of Dr. Ashok M. Agrawal, Principal, Kaveri College and able leadership of Mrs. Soniya Kumbhojkar, Chairperson, Excursion Committee, the Management department of the College had planned a one-day industrial visit to Precision Automation & Robotics India Ltd. and Mother’s Recipe at Shirwal, Satara District.

The visit at both the Companies provided an opportunity for the students to get a hands-on learning experience of the industry operations. At Precision Automations, Mr. Sandeep Shende interacted with the students on various aspects and departments of the Company. Later the students were taken to the Manufacturing and Storage departments where they got an opportunity to see the entire manufacturing process. In Mother’s Recipe, Mr. Deepak Shende introduced the students to the manufacturing and packaging departments of the company.

Around 60 students were benefitted from the visits. The visits helped the students to understand some very interesting facts and basic concepts of marketing. 
On this occasion the BBA teachers Mrs. Vandana Upadhyay, Mr. Nilesh Nemade, Mr. Shubhendu Pandit were also present.


Tree Plantation Drive by Kaveri College



As a part of social responsibility Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce successfully undertook a tree plantation drive on 28 July 2018 at Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), Pune. Total 82 NSS Volunteers took part in the plantation drive and planted more than 500 saplings in about a hectare of land in the vicinity. The drive was carried out under the valuable guidance of Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Principal, Kaveri College and able leadership of NSS Program Officer, Mr.  Sachin Deokate.

Mr. Sachin Deokate informed the students about environmental conservation and made them aware about the adverse impact of Global Warming on humankind. Mr. Deokate insisted that environment conservation is the need of the hour and every citizen has a role to play to save the planet earth. Mr. Deepak Pawar, Range Forest Officer provided guidance to the students and taught them the proper methods to plant the saplings. Forest guards Mr. Mirgewar, Mr. Gaekwad, Mr. Shinde, Mr. Bhawari were also present on the occasion.

The staff members also took part in the plantation drive with great enthusiasm and informed the NSS volunteers about the benefits of trees and fostered environmental sensitivity in them. The volunteers performed some activities like digging of the pits, planting of the trees, and cleaning the area around the plants etc. They also collected the plastic and other waste material from the area and disposed these off.

Mr.Anand Buddhikot, Student Development Officer, Mr. Nilesh Nemade, Asst. Program Officer, staff Members, Ms. Shweta Bhagat and Ms. Ashwini Kale planted saplings and contributed towards the green drive.

“Entrepreneurship cannot be taught, it should be developed from within.” : Dr. Ashok M. Agrawal



               Kannada Sangha Pune’s, Kaveri College of Arts Science and Commerce conducted a lecture under the Kaveri Entrepreneurship Development Cell(KEDC), on July 21, 2018. Mr. Aniket Tapre, Founder, Venture Factor, was invited to deliver a lecture on the topic - The Mad World of Start-ups.
             
  Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Principal, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice Principal, Dr. Deepa Sathe, Head KEDC, Staff members and students were present on the occasion. Dr. Agrawal welcomed and felicitated Mr. Aniket Tapre.  
Dr. Agrawal said that the world of start-ups is fast growing as it is the most awarding and delivering world. He also said that “Entrepreneurship cannot be taught but it should be developed from within.”

               Dr. Deepa Sathe informed that KEDC was formed with two objectives i.e. to indentify entrepreneurs among students and to brace them with necessary entrepreneurial skill sets and knowledge through various activities.
               In his lecture, Mr. Aniket Tapre, Founder of Venture
Factor, focused on early stage start up funding and mentoring. He said that experience itself is the best teacher and there's no school for entrepreneurship other than that. Mr. Tapre also said that it needs right attitude, unique ideas and passion to be an Entrepreneur. To be successful entrepreneurs, he encouraged students to develop risk taking capabilities, curiosity and to learn from one’s own. The students shared and discussed unique ideas about starting a business. 

               

The session concluded with a question-answer round. Abhijeet Singh, S.Y B.Com(A) compered and proposed the vote of thanks. The staff members and students were present in large number for the session.

Orientation Program for the First Year Students at Kaveri College



The new academic year 2018-19 began with a successful Orientation Program at Kaveri
College of Arts, Science and Commerce, held on 14th July 2018. The main objective of the program was to welcome the new students of the first year B.Com, B.Sc., BBA, BBA (CA), BBA (IB) and BA and to make the parents and students aware of the college life, academic aspects and infrastructure facilities of the College and the University curriculum.

Dr. Narayan G. Hegde, Vice President, Kannada Sangha, Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Principal, Kaveri College, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice Principal, and Ms. Sayee Kulkarni, Head, Cultural Committee were present on the occasion. The first year students and their parents attended the program in large number.

In her welcome speech, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar welcomed the new students to Kaveri family and introduced them to the Kaveri Group of Institutes and its immense contribution in the education sector. She asked students to avail the State-of-the-Art facilities provided in the College campus for their holistic development.

Dr. Narayan Hegde congratulated students and encouraged them to dream big and work hard to realize those dreams. Dr. Hegde also asked them to follow three principles in life i.e. go introvert when they go wrong, consult good friends and always listen to parents.

Principal Dr. Ashok Agrwal said that Kaveri College believes in ‘Excellence in Education,’ and strives hard to turn students into proactive citizens. He appreciated the College for getting NAAC accreditation in a very short span of 12 years and said that the College will continue to excel in future too.
He appealed to the students to be a part of Kaveri family and make the College proud of them. He asked them to inculcate the habit of reading and urged them to overcome their shortcomings. Dr. Agrawal stressed on the need of parent-teacher working together for the betterment of their wards.

On this occasion, three of the alumni of the college, Ms. Shruti Bapat, Mr. Archit Joshi, and Mr. Sameer Akkalkotkar shared their experiences at the college and its contribution in shaping their lives. Ms. Sayee Kulkarni gave a Power Point Presentation showing the glimpses of upcoming curricular and extra-curricular activities of the College for the current academic year.
