Investor Awareness Programme Organised at Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce


Commerce Department of Kaveri college of Arts, Science and Commerce in association with CDSL and SBIcap organised an Investor Awareness Programme on 25 February 2020. Principal, Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Vice Principal, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Coordinator, Dr. Deepa Sathe, Faculty members along with the resource speakers for the session, Mr. Ajit Manjure, Head of Investor Education CDSL and Ms. Ashwini Khedkar, Branch Manager CDSL, Pune were present for the same. After the felicitation of Mr. Ajit Manjure and Ms. Ashwini Khedkar at the hands of Dr. Ashok Agrawal and Dr. Muckta Karmarkar respectively the programme began.
The key area of this session was to educate the students about various investment instruments, financial markets, mutual funds, etc. Mr. Ajit Manjure informed the audience about investment benefits, how much one should invest and that one should start investing early. He introduced them to demat account, its advantages and its functions; he also spoke on National Stock Exchange, Bombay Stock Exchange and their functions. He emphasised upon the significance of being an informed as well as disciplined investor. He concluded his session by advising the students to keep themselves updated through News papers, television channels, important websites, etc. The session was very informative and interactive. Around 80 students benefited from it.

Faculty Development Programmes At Kaveri


Awareness Programme on Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)
On 23 July 2019, an Orientation Programme about the Massive Open Online Courses e.g. SWAYAM, Coursera etc. was conducted for the staff members of the college. The resource persons for both the programme were Asst. Prof. Mrs. Chitra Alavani and Asst. Prof. Mrs. Pallavi Joshi from our college.
Bloom’s Taxonomy
Staff Academy Committee has also been instrumental in arranging Faculty Development Programmes. A Faculty Development Programme was organised on 18 September 2019 on Bloom’s Taxonomy’. Dr. Lalita Vartak was the resource person for the programme. She explained that main aim of Bloom’s Taxonomy is to promote higher forms of thinking in education.  She emphasized that it brings precision and accuracy in teaching methodologies. 33 staff members took advantage of the programme.
Intellectual property Rights (IPR)
To create awareness of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and to encourage innovation across various disciplines, a FDP on Intellectual property Rights (IPR) was organized on 1 October 2019 in the college. The resource person for this FDP was Prof. Amol Sapatnekar from Symbiosis Law School, Pune. All the staff members of Kaveri College attended this FDP.
Training Programme on Education
Another Faculty Development Programme was organized at Ramakrishna Math on 9 November 2019 on the topic ‘Training Programme on Education’. On this occasion, Shrikantnanda Maharaj, President of Ramakrishna Math addressed faculty members of the college. In his speech he emphasised on student teacher relationship which is instrumental in the overall growth of the student. The second session was conducted by Dr. Shirish Limaye wherein he focused on the importance of goal setting. Buddhanand Maharaj conducted a session on moral and spiritual values in education and also focused on the need for development based education. 30 teaching and 9 non-teaching members were present for the same.
Training for Non teaching employees on Manners, Etiquettes and Personality Development
Development is an enduring process of fostering, shaping and enhancing individuals’ skills, knowledge and interests to ascertain their maximum efficacy and compliance. Development covers an assortment of activities, one of which is the knowledge of Corporate Etiquette and Personality Development. A training programme on ‘Manners, Etiquettes and Personality Development’ was held on 31 December, 2019 from 10: 30 am to 1 pm for the non-teaching employees of Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce. It was facilitated by Dr. Muckta Karamarkar, Vice Principal, Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce.
The objective of this training was to build self-confidence, enhance self-esteem and improve overall personality of the participants. The programme aimed at grooming the participants through sensitizing them about proper behaviour, socially and professionally, in formal and informal circumstances. This programme was designed to help people in organizations who wish to gain confidence and effectively perform in the professional environment. The programme involved interactive sessions, individual and group exercises, role plays, situation-handling and experience-sharing.
Learning Outcomes of the training programme:

Mastering cross cultural etiquettes
Handling difficult situations with grace, style, and professionalism

Body Language, poise, and eye contact
Pronunciation, voice modulation, and diction

In all, 9 employees attended the training programme. Feedback was collected at the end of the session.
Innovative and Corporate Way of Training, Teaching and Mentoring by Mr. Rajeev Jain
IQAC and Staff Academy of Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized a Faculty Development Programme on 22 February 2020. The topic of the session was Innovative and Corporate Way of Training, Teaching and Mentoring.
IQAC Head, Dr. Jayashree Bangali welcomed the resource speaker, Mr. Rajeev Jain, Principal Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Vice Principal, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar and all the Faculty members, which was followed by the felicitation of the resource speaker at the hands of Dr. Ashok Agrawal.
Thereafter, the session began where the speaker explained the importance of one’s passion, how the teachers should play the role of a Subhedar in their students’ lives, the importance of students working for CSR, NGOs which will help them connect better with the society, the significance of creating a conductive environment for the students to make them feel free to approach their teachers to seek help. He also threw some light upon the blended learning system and discussed few ways to make students ready for the corporate world during their graduation years. The session was extremely interactive and informative. 33 Faculty members attended the session and benefited from it.

Annual Prize Distribution at Kaveri


The Annual Sports Prize Distribution and Annual Prize Distribution function was organized on 10 February and 18 February 2020 respectively.
Mr. Dhananjay Damle, National Level Badminton Player and Secretary Maharashtriy Mandal graced the occasion as the chief guest. Principal Dr. Ashok Agrawal welcomed the audience and informed the dignitaries that the college provides all possible facilities and support to budding sportspersons.  Mr. Damle in his speech stressed the fact that everyone should practice at least one sport throughout their lifetime for physical and mental fitness. Academics and  sports should go hand in hand. The prizes of intra college sports competitions and prizes of Annual Staff sports Meet were given at the hands of the Chief Guest, Principal and Vice Principal.
Mr. Vikram Bokey, a well known Retired IPS Officer graced the Annual Prize Distribution function as the Chief Guest on 18 February 2020. Mr. Kushal Hedge, President, Kannada Sangha, Pune and Mrs. Indira Salian, Vice President, Kannada Sangha, Pune were present on the occasion.
Ms. Pooja Ambole, Assistant Professor, Commerce, informed the audience about the activities of the college for the year 2019-20 through a PowerPoint presentation. The Annual Report of the college for the year 2019-20 was unveiled at the hands of the chief guest and other esteemed dignitaries.  
Mr. Bokey in his speech appealed to the students to stay away from addictions like smoking, alcohol, and drugs etc. He said that one can live a long healthy life if one stays away from addictions. He cited examples of the state of Punjab and how the young generation is in the grapples of drug addiction, which is the worst form of addiction. He also said that drug addiction is life threatening and can leave an impact on generations to come.
The academic, co curricular, extracurricular student achievers were felicitated on this occasion. Endowment prizes in fond memory of Dr. Kalmadi Shamarao, Mrs. Sunita Vishnu Karmarkar and Mr. Vishnu Moreshwar Karmarkar, as well as Late Shri Ramesh Khode were awarded to the students. Dr. Anand Buddhikot, Assistant Professor, Electronics and Dr. Geetanjali Pitre, Assistant Professor, Commerce were recognized for their contribution to research. Mr. Rohit Tambe, Director, Physical Education and Ms. Shweta Bhagat were recognized for contribution in their respective fields. The non-teaching staff was recognized for their contribution to the college. Mr. Agney Galande, TYBCOM was awarded with the best Outgoing Student award and Mr. Abhijeet Singh, TYBCOM won the best All Rounder award.
