Industrial Visits Organized by Kaveri College




Kannada Sangha’s Kevari College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune organized an Industry Visit for the students of BBA and BBA IB on 11 August 2018. Under the valuable guidance of Dr. Ashok M. Agrawal, Principal, Kaveri College and able leadership of Mrs. Soniya Kumbhojkar, Chairperson, Excursion Committee, the Management department of the College had planned a one-day industrial visit to Precision Automation & Robotics India Ltd. and Mother’s Recipe at Shirwal, Satara District.

The visit at both the Companies provided an opportunity for the students to get a hands-on learning experience of the industry operations. At Precision Automations, Mr. Sandeep Shende interacted with the students on various aspects and departments of the Company. Later the students were taken to the Manufacturing and Storage departments where they got an opportunity to see the entire manufacturing process. In Mother’s Recipe, Mr. Deepak Shende introduced the students to the manufacturing and packaging departments of the company.

Around 60 students were benefitted from the visits. The visits helped the students to understand some very interesting facts and basic concepts of marketing. 
On this occasion the BBA teachers Mrs. Vandana Upadhyay, Mr. Nilesh Nemade, Mr. Shubhendu Pandit were also present.


Tree Plantation Drive by Kaveri College



As a part of social responsibility Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce successfully undertook a tree plantation drive on 28 July 2018 at Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), Pune. Total 82 NSS Volunteers took part in the plantation drive and planted more than 500 saplings in about a hectare of land in the vicinity. The drive was carried out under the valuable guidance of Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Principal, Kaveri College and able leadership of NSS Program Officer, Mr.  Sachin Deokate.

Mr. Sachin Deokate informed the students about environmental conservation and made them aware about the adverse impact of Global Warming on humankind. Mr. Deokate insisted that environment conservation is the need of the hour and every citizen has a role to play to save the planet earth. Mr. Deepak Pawar, Range Forest Officer provided guidance to the students and taught them the proper methods to plant the saplings. Forest guards Mr. Mirgewar, Mr. Gaekwad, Mr. Shinde, Mr. Bhawari were also present on the occasion.

The staff members also took part in the plantation drive with great enthusiasm and informed the NSS volunteers about the benefits of trees and fostered environmental sensitivity in them. The volunteers performed some activities like digging of the pits, planting of the trees, and cleaning the area around the plants etc. They also collected the plastic and other waste material from the area and disposed these off.

Mr.Anand Buddhikot, Student Development Officer, Mr. Nilesh Nemade, Asst. Program Officer, staff Members, Ms. Shweta Bhagat and Ms. Ashwini Kale planted saplings and contributed towards the green drive.

“Entrepreneurship cannot be taught, it should be developed from within.” : Dr. Ashok M. Agrawal



               Kannada Sangha Pune’s, Kaveri College of Arts Science and Commerce conducted a lecture under the Kaveri Entrepreneurship Development Cell(KEDC), on July 21, 2018. Mr. Aniket Tapre, Founder, Venture Factor, was invited to deliver a lecture on the topic - The Mad World of Start-ups.
             
  Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Principal, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice Principal, Dr. Deepa Sathe, Head KEDC, Staff members and students were present on the occasion. Dr. Agrawal welcomed and felicitated Mr. Aniket Tapre.  
Dr. Agrawal said that the world of start-ups is fast growing as it is the most awarding and delivering world. He also said that “Entrepreneurship cannot be taught but it should be developed from within.”

               Dr. Deepa Sathe informed that KEDC was formed with two objectives i.e. to indentify entrepreneurs among students and to brace them with necessary entrepreneurial skill sets and knowledge through various activities.
               In his lecture, Mr. Aniket Tapre, Founder of Venture
Factor, focused on early stage start up funding and mentoring. He said that experience itself is the best teacher and there's no school for entrepreneurship other than that. Mr. Tapre also said that it needs right attitude, unique ideas and passion to be an Entrepreneur. To be successful entrepreneurs, he encouraged students to develop risk taking capabilities, curiosity and to learn from one’s own. The students shared and discussed unique ideas about starting a business. 

               

The session concluded with a question-answer round. Abhijeet Singh, S.Y B.Com(A) compered and proposed the vote of thanks. The staff members and students were present in large number for the session.

Orientation Program for the First Year Students at Kaveri College



The new academic year 2018-19 began with a successful Orientation Program at Kaveri
College of Arts, Science and Commerce, held on 14th July 2018. The main objective of the program was to welcome the new students of the first year B.Com, B.Sc., BBA, BBA (CA), BBA (IB) and BA and to make the parents and students aware of the college life, academic aspects and infrastructure facilities of the College and the University curriculum.

Dr. Narayan G. Hegde, Vice President, Kannada Sangha, Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Principal, Kaveri College, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice Principal, and Ms. Sayee Kulkarni, Head, Cultural Committee were present on the occasion. The first year students and their parents attended the program in large number.

In her welcome speech, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar welcomed the new students to Kaveri family and introduced them to the Kaveri Group of Institutes and its immense contribution in the education sector. She asked students to avail the State-of-the-Art facilities provided in the College campus for their holistic development.

Dr. Narayan Hegde congratulated students and encouraged them to dream big and work hard to realize those dreams. Dr. Hegde also asked them to follow three principles in life i.e. go introvert when they go wrong, consult good friends and always listen to parents.

Principal Dr. Ashok Agrwal said that Kaveri College believes in ‘Excellence in Education,’ and strives hard to turn students into proactive citizens. He appreciated the College for getting NAAC accreditation in a very short span of 12 years and said that the College will continue to excel in future too.
He appealed to the students to be a part of Kaveri family and make the College proud of them. He asked them to inculcate the habit of reading and urged them to overcome their shortcomings. Dr. Agrawal stressed on the need of parent-teacher working together for the betterment of their wards.

On this occasion, three of the alumni of the college, Ms. Shruti Bapat, Mr. Archit Joshi, and Mr. Sameer Akkalkotkar shared their experiences at the college and its contribution in shaping their lives. Ms. Sayee Kulkarni gave a Power Point Presentation showing the glimpses of upcoming curricular and extra-curricular activities of the College for the current academic year.

Workshop on ‘Intellectual Property Rights’ held at Kaveri College


 Intellectual Property plays a key role in achieving higher economic growth in a market driven
economy. To promote the awareness of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and to encourage innovation across various disciplines, Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce under Internal Quality Assurance Cell organized a Half Day Workshop on Intellectual property Rights (IPR) on 3rd July, 2018. Prof. Ganesh Hingamire, Chairman Great Mission Group Consultancy (GMGC) was the chief guest on this occasion.
Mrs Malati Kalmadi Secretary, Kannada Sangha, Ashok M. Agrawal, Principal, Kaveri College, Vice Principal, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Dr. Jayashree Bangali, Head, IQAC were aleso present on the occasion.
Dr. Jayashree Bangali welcomed everyone and briefed about the agenda of the Workshop. She informed that the workshop has been organized to sensitize the participants on the basics of IPR and
its role in enhancing the quality of education, innovation and research. Mrs Malati Kalmadi Secretary, Kannada Sangha, addressed the audience and said that Kaveri always focuses on Excellence in education as Education is creating a property for the nation. She also spoke about dual Curriculum which states that the child should earn his living as well as his/her well being.
Dr. Ashok M. Agrawal, Principal, Kaveri College in his welcome speech informed the audience about the progressive journey of Kaveri College. He emphasized on the fact that India has a great tradition of intellectuals but Indians lack in proving their intellect to the world. They should learn to prove themselves as only the proven qualities are universally acceptable.
In his speech, Prof. Ganesh Hingamire made the participants aware about importance of IPRs and their protection, Patenting procedures and patent informatics, patent searches, role of innovation and
invention in the academia‐industry collaborations, trademark and copyright protection, issues of do’s and don’ts for a researcher in the context of publishing and patenting. He also spoke about the importance of IP, types of IP, IP activities carried out by IPO, trends of patent filing in India and abroad and success stories on capitalizing of IP. To provide more insight into this matter, Prof. Hingamire, has given an excellent talk on patentable, non patentable items, innovations with information on various acts and laws related to IPRs. With his long experience in this field, his lecture invoked many queries from participants and those who are working on any patentable items were highly benefited.

One Day Research Methodology Session held at Kaveri College

 Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science & Commerce under Kaveri Research and Innovation Centre(KRIC) of the college had organized a one day session on the topic ‘Research 
Methodology’ by Dr.. Rashmi Hebalkar, Chairman –ISTD, on Tuesday, 27 June 2018. Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College, Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice Principal, Dr. Jayashri Bangali, Chair person-KRIC were also present at the session. Dr.  Jayshree Bangali explained the aims and objectives behind the establishment of the Kaveri Research and Innovation Center and informed everyone about various initiatives taken under this center.

     
Dr. S.B. Kharosekar welcomed the Chief Guest Dr. Rashmi Hebalkar and felicitated her. Dr. S.B. Kharosekar spoke about the four major centers started by the College. He spoke on the importance Research and research attitude and shared information about various scholarships being given by the R & D department. He referred to research as a systematic investigation in order to establish facts and draw conclusions. He said that research is a careful and detailed study into a specific problem using a scientific method. It is a systematic method of data collection, sample size, surveys.

Dr. Hebalkar focused on techniques of research. The main components of the research work are the
information about topics related to the research, its objectives and challenges, assumptions, courage and patience, etc. She made students think of a subject and the sample size. She introduced the techniques of data collection viz. primary and secondary. She mentioned that Research is one for decision making. She also introduced students with three types of research- Basic, Action and Applied.

International Yoga Day Celebrations at Kaveri College


The Fourth International Yoga Day was celebrated at Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce on 21st June, 2018 with great zeal and enthusiasm. To spread awareness about Yoga and its benefits, the College had organized an event in association with Datta Kriya Yoga International Pune Center. Dr. A. J. Thanawala from Datta Kriya Yoga International Pune Center explained the 
 importance and benefits of Yoga to the staff and the students of the College. Dr. Thanawala explained the concept of Pran-Shakti, an essential component to keep our body and mind in healthy disposition.  He also said that transformation of mind is the greatest miracle which can be achieved through ancient science of Yoga. He said that Yoga helps in curing many chronic and incurable diseases through various asanas and ‘Naadishuddhi Kriya’.  Dr. Thanawala conducted a session on meditation, Pranayam and breathing techniques, and musical meditation for the participants.

          
  Principal, Dr. S. B. Kharosekar expressed the importance of Yoga for healthy life. He said that Yoga keeps us physically, mentally and spiritually balanced. He mentioned that Yoga is the best medicine for sculpting the body both internally and externally. It promotes harmony among people in their professional and personal lives. He shared that the College has started a certificate course in Yoga and Stress Management as a part of awareness program on Yoga. He assured that different Yoga activities will be conducted throughout the year for the college staff and students in the college.

Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice Principal, and Mr.Sachin Deokate, NSS PO, were present on this occasion. The teaching, non-teaching staff members and students participated in large numbers in the event. Ms. Shweta Bhagat compered the program and Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty proposed the vote of thanks.
