Two Days Leadership Training Programme

The Two Days Leadership Training Camp was organized by M. R. Pai Foundation, Mumbai jointly with the Forum of Free Enterprise, Mumbai at the Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune under Kaveri Skill Development Cell on 29 and 30 September 2022. The resource persons for the training camp were Mr. Rajiv Kumar Luv and Mr. Sachin Kamath.
The compeering for inauguration was done by Rohan Salunke, student of SY BA and felicitations of both the resource persons were done by Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Principal, Kaveri College.For the further sessions of the training camp the total participants were divided into two groups by the resource persons. Total 6 sessions were conducted parallel for two groups in two days by both the resource persons.
Following three sessions were conducted by Mr. Rajiv Kumar Luv:
1. Setting and Achieving Goals
2. The Power of Habits
3. Coming Together – A beginning
In the session ‘Setting and Achieving Goals’ Mr. Luv explained about how to set the goals and how to achieve it successfully, with this he also focused on what and how the goals should be. He added that goals should be personal, specific, visible, measurable, exciting and must be time bound. He told about different techniques that help achieve goals.In his next session on ‘The Power of Habits’, Mr. Luv explained the concept of good habits and bad habits. He made students write their own bad habits, and announce it to the participants. Very common and day to day examples were given by him so that students can easily relate to the situation. He discussed major issues like over-thinking etc. Most of the students find this topic helpful. He advised to make the habits easy to start, doing those habits for at least 2 minutes every day, and then
those become easier to continue. Habits should be built to be attractive, easy and satisfying. And to break a habit, it should be made invisible, unattractive, difficult and unsatisfying. Mr. Luv shared tips on how to replace old routines with new one. He also put some light on the topic of positive affirmations. He suggested that one should keep adding new positive habits.
In his third session on ‘Coming Together – A beginning’, Mr. Luv explained the concept of teamwork by various activities like ‘balancing the pipe’ game, where students were in a group to hold a pipe in a team. He explained the meaning of coming together to achieve some big targets through an activity involving teamwork. He advised that each member should learn from his/her mistake and should share information with each other freely. Team members should trust and inspire each other and should celebrate their small success. Members should motivate each other to achieve the goals of the team. This session was very helpful for the students as they learned and enjoyed the various new concepts and terms.

The following three sessions were conducted by Mr. Sachin Kamath:
1. Sharpening Vital skills
2. Effective communication
3. Understanding Self & Others
In the session ‘Sharpening Vital skills’, Mr. Kamath explained about the importance of self-reliance and capability and honing potentials of self. He mentioned that self development should start and end with the individual being completely responsible for the same. In that, soft skills like communication, relationship building, self awareness, emotional capabilities and good lifestyle were pinpointed. It was an interactive session which grabbed the attention of all the students present in the session. In session ‘Effective communication’, Mr. Kamath explained the concept of communication by stating that ‘communication is the message that the receiver understands rather than what the sender conveys’. He conducted an activity to show why communication is important and how it can be done effectively to get better output. He discussed about how to manage people in life while narrating different personality traits in detail.
In the session ‘Understanding Self & Others’, Mr. Kamath explained about group efforts and coordination in conjunction with knowing oneself and the role of others effectively. He also mentioned a self-reflection theory which is the ‘Johari window’ which highlights various aspects of self that cover the ‘open self’, ‘blind self’, ‘hidden self’ and the ‘known self’. It gave a chunk for the students to chew on and understand their positioning in various dimensions of their life.
Finally various assignments and exercises were given by both experts to students. Total 72 students completed the training camp successfully. There were few students from Shahu College, Pune.









FDP on “Life Balance Sheet” by Mr. Sudhir Gogate

 
The staff academy and Internal Quality Assurance Cell organized FDP on “Life Balance Sheet” on 19 November, 2022. The FDP was conducted by Mr. Sudhir Gogate, Industry Expert, Executive Director, Hitachi Astemo Fie Pvt. Ltd. CMA Abhay Deodhar, Mr. Ashok Jamenis, Renowned Industrialist were also present for the FDP. Mrs. Pallavi Joshi welcomed Mr. Sudhir Gogate, CMA Abhay Deodhar, Mr. Ashok Jamenis, Dr. Ashok Agrawal & Dr. Muckta Karmarkar. Dr. Deepa Sathe introduced Mr. Sudhir Gogate, CMA Abhay Deodhar and Mr. Ashok Jamenis.

Dr. Ashok Agrawal addressed the staff members about this FDP. He also expressed his happiness by saying that this FDP is an opportunity to learn about liabilities and assets in life. CMA Abhay Deohdar gave a message that keep learning and updating yourself otherwise the person may get outdated. Mr. Jamenis said that perseverance and dedication is important to achieve goals and quality in life.

Mr. Sudhir Gogate in his session talked about 4 pages to be balanced in life. According to him, page 1 should be dedicated to the people who have helped us to be grateful towards them. Page 1 can be said as a gratitude page. Page 2 is a page for inspiration and kindness by listing the names of people to whom you have helped. Page 3 consists of names of people to whom we have hurt and page 4 will have names of the people who have hurt us being the page of forgiveness.

He advised everyone to make efforts to change the place of names from page 3 and 4 to page 1 & 2. He mentioned names on page 1 & page 2 as performing assets and page 3 & 4 as non-performing assets. He also emphasized on the fact that pause is important to review and reshuffle the pages.










MOU signed between Kaveri College and ExcelR

 


A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between ExcelR Solutions and Kannada Sangha Pune's Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce on 10th November 2022. 


ExcelR under this initiative, with its vertical Every Day Learning (EDL) would be providing application and industry-oriented training on various trending technologies for free from industry experts.The benefit of the MoU will be for the students to learn new subjects and the students will get the facility of one free course every month. Students will be able to learn subjects in the Excel LMS module even after graduation. L.M.S. module will also have recorded lecture sessions available for revision. It will also record the weekly attendance of the students with feedback and a certificate will be given to the students who attend the course for more than 60%.

WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 22-23 


 Department of Arts at Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune celebrated World Mental Health Day on 17th October 2022 Monday. The program started with Mr.Rahul Uplenchwar, student of TYBA introducing the nature of the event and how it is important to be happy despite the different stories lived by every individual present in the room. Post that, Vice-Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar enlightened the students about the vitality of mental cleansing and looking at the smaller things in life which give happiness as well as not engaging in any forms of unhealthy comparisons.


The event had a small poetry recitation, with students from different streams involved in expressing their subjective thoughts about the concepts of mental wellness. After that, there was a fusion of various songs in various languages sung by Mr.Rahul Uplenchwar TYBA, Ms.Rucha Kulkarni TYBA, Ms.Renuka Kotharkar SYBA, Ms. Suchismita Mohanty Coordinator BA, Ms. Pooja Adkar Faculty of Psychology in Malayali, Odissi, English, Marathi, Hindi and Marathi Languages.

Poster presentation event was judged by Dr. Shweta Bapat -Coordinator BBA department and Dr. Jayshri Bangali -Coordinator B.Sc department respectively. The A.V room was beautifully decorated with quotes and colorful clip-arts related to psychology by all of the volunteers involved in the event. The event was concluded with a vote of thanks given by the students and Ms. Suchismita Mohanty. The prize distribution for posters was done at the hands of Principal Dr.Ashok Agrawal. All the students had a great time attending the session and also making it a big success. Nearly 100 students participated in the event through competitions and as an audience.

Inter College Table Tennis Competition Men & Women jointly organized by Pune City Zone Sports Committee and Kaveri College


An inter-college table tennis tournament was organized jointly by Pune City Zone and Kaveri College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Pune. The opening ceremony of the tournament was done at the auspicious hands of Mr. Kushal Hegde, President of the Kannada Sangha and Chief Guest Mr. Rohit Chaudhary-the winner of the Shiv Chhatrapati Award (Table Tennis). Speaking on the occasion of the inauguration of the competition, the chief guest Mr. Kushal Hegde, President of the program, wished the students success in the competition and mentioned that sports is a global language. Principal Dr.Ashok Aggarwal encouraged all the students to participate in competitions like Khelo India as well. Vice-Principal Dr.Muckta Karmarkar fondly encouraged the students on this occasion. 


The chief guest of the program Mr. Rohit Chaudhary motivated the students to achieve great success in the field of sports. He advised that while looking at sports, every student should be mentally prepared to accept both win and lose situations. He said that through sports, students' morale and their overall development gets enhanced. He added that table tennis is an indoor game and should not be viewed only competitively. On this occasion, M.Com. second year student C.A. Mallika Karmarkar was honored with special appreciation for her remarkable contribution in the field of sports. Mr. Ankit Singh, Mr. Sanket Joshi and Mr. Mayur Srivastava contributed as technical inspectors for the competition. Dr. Dipali More and Prof. Aditya Girme assisted as team managers. Selection committee member Prof. Madhukar Pandkar, Prof. Dr. Dushyant Rajenimbalkar and distance college secretary Prof. Anirudh Sharma were present at the inauguration of the competition.

 

Symbiosis College men’s team won the game with first position, while in the women's category, the team from Modern College, Shivajinagar emerged as the winner. In the men's category, the team of P. Jog college was the runner-up, while in the women's category, the Engineering College of Marathwada Mitra Mandal was the runner-up. Whereas V.I.T. College in men’s category and Post Graduate Gymkhana of Savitribai Phule Pune University bagged the third position prizes.


Organizing Secretary Prof. Rohit Tambe did the compering for the occasion and also presented the Vote of Thanks.

Vachan Prerana Din celebration at Kaveri College

 


"Vachan Prerana Din" was enthusiastically celebrated on 15th October, 2022 in memory of former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam at Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune.  Renowned Litterateur Dr. Madhusudan Ghanekar was the resource person for a special lecture organized on this occasion. While interacting with the students, Dr. Ghanekar inspired them all to develop their love for reading. He expressed that "It is necessary to preserve the reading society and the culture of reading. Because marks are only needed to pass the exam, whereas virtues are needed to pass the exams of life. Students can change the world with strong self-confidence and strong will. It is the duty of parents and teachers to create a nurturing and healthy environment for the overall development of students”.


On this occasion, Vice Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, guided the students over the significance of reading to lead in life. Office Superintendent Mr. Ravindra Bhalerao, Associate Librarian Mr. Chaitanya Ohol, all the teaching and non-teaching staff were present on this occasion. Students too attended the program in large numbers and made the purpose of the program successful. Mr. Bhalerao presented the Vote of Thanks.

Commerce Horizon Week 2022-23

 


Department of Commerce at Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune organized Commerce Horizon Week 2022-23 from 6th Oct 2022 to 8th Oct 2022. Commerce Horizon Week was inaugurated by Mrs. Malti Kalmadi- Secretary, Kannada Sangha, Pune. Principal Dr. Ashok Agarwal, Vice Principal Dr. Mukta Karmarkar, Commerce Coordinator  Dr. Deepa Sathe and Prof. Pooja Ambole encouraged and guided students. Dr. Deepa Sathe said that the main objective of Commerce Horizon is to give a platform and enhance the talent, skill and spirit in the students and to provide them with a professional platform on part of the college.


Various competitions such as Quiz Competition, Poster Competition, Treasure Hunt were conducted for the students of the college on 6th October 2022 under Commerce Horizon Week. In this, students showed great enthusiasm by participating in large numbers. Very remarkable show- 'Kaveri’s Got Talent', 'Business / Product Idea Competition' and 'Impromptu Competition' were organized on 7th October 2022. In 'Kaveri’s Got Talent', students presented their talent in front of the audience very enthusiastically through various mesmerizing performances such as playing instruments, composing poetry, dance performance, stand-up comedy, monologue, singing, etc. All the students participated very fondly in all the competitions and successfully completed the activities. Around 500 students actively witnessed the Business Fair organized on October 8, 2022 and enjoyed various cuisines. 18 stalls of various self made food products were arranged by the students, where they sold their items making best possible use of marketing and presentation skills. The winning teams were awarded with the title of 'Kaveri's Budding Entrepreneur' after evaluating the quality of food, presentation, cleanliness, popularity, publicity etc. 


Co-Ordinators from other departments of College judged the competitions and appreciated the active efforts taken by all the participants. The winners from every competition were awarded with cash prizes, whereas all the participants were given a certificate as a token of appreciation. More than 100 students fondly served as volunteers in organizing the entire Commerce Horizon Week, around 400 students participated in the activities and competitions conducted under the event, and in all, around 2000 students were present through the three days of Commerce Horizon. All the competitions, programs and activities were conducted in a very disciplined manner and with active participation of the students.

One Day PreMarital Workshop organized at Kaveri College under Board of Student Development(SPPU)

 

One Day PreMarital Workshop was organized under the Board of Student Development at Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce on 7th October 2022. Workshop was based on premarital counseling for college students under Nirbhaya Kanya Abhiyan by Vidyarthi Kalyan Mandal. Psychotherapists and Counselors Dr. Anuradha Harkare and Mrs. Gauri Gokhale were the guest speakers for the workshop. Dr. Jayashri Bangali-Head, Student Development Organization of the college, presented the main purpose of organizing the workshop and mentioned the immense importance of the topic of premarital counseling for students. Principal Dr.Ashok Agrawal in his address, awakened the students about the changes that happen in life after marriage and the various problems that arise due to misunderstandings and wished everyone a happy life. The chief guest of the program Mrs. Malati Kalmadi, Secretary, Kannada Sangha, Pune gave an explanation to students on the difference between marriage and pre-marital bliss. She said that happiness is important in every relationship and we ourselves are responsible for that happiness. She explained how one should maintain balance in our body, mind and intellect while reacting to every action around us. Guest Speaker- Dr. Anuradha Harkare started her lecture by asking questions to students. She first explored the mindsets and ideas of students regarding marriage and expectations about life partner and mentioned that marriage is a major concept in any relationship where partners are expected to share everything and every emotion with each other. She also guided by saying that while choosing a suitable partner, one's personality, thoughts, age, ability to accept responsibility and seriousness in life should be taken into consideration. At a young age, students should gain control over their own mind and emotions with their intellect, and should behave thoughtfully, she added. Another Guest Speaker-Mrs. Gauri Gokhale advised the students to be realistic and explained the process of carefully understanding and accommodating others while maintaining a love relationship. She also said that understanding and patience are important in both love and care while establishing a relationship. She made a very remarkable distinction between feeling love and keeping love. Prof. Asmita Joshi did compeering for the workshop and Dr. Jayashree Bangali presented a Vote of Thanks. She specially expressed her gratitude towards Ms. Malati Kalmadi- Secretary, Kannada Sangha and Vice Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar for their valuable guidance and support. The workshop got a huge response of more than 100 students from many colleges of Maharashtra.









FDP on Virtual Labs (IIT Bombay) organized at Kaveri College



Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune organized a Faculty Development Programme on 3rd, October 2022. All the professors were briefed about the Virtual Lab which was implemented in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay. Dr. Varsha Joshi- Nodal Coordinator, Modern College, Ganeshkhind and Prof. Ranjana Shevkar- Nodal Technical Coordinator, Modern College, Ganeshkhind guided all the professors along with demonstrations.


All professors were given detailed information ranging from the registration process of the virtual Labs to the virtual practical courses of various subjects available in it. Dr. Varsha briefed everyone on the entire topic by saying that the concept of virtual labs will be very useful for students to enhance their knowledge and learn new subjects in the current era of online education. Virtual labs are going to provide the experimenting spirit and boost the quest for perfection among the learners. She added that the major motives of these virtual labs are going to be virtually projecting a physical phenomenon through a set of equations and replicating it in virtual reality to obtain the result of a particular experiment, providing remote access to laboratories in various branches of science and engineering, etc. She said that these virtual labs will be proving beneficial for undergraduate-postgraduate students as well as research scholars. She emphasized that the basic purpose of this virtual lab is to stimulate students' curiosity to experiment and help them learn basic and advanced concepts through remote experiments. To provide a complete learning management system around the virtual lab where students can avail various learning tools including additional web-resources, video-lectures, animated demonstrations and self-assessment. Introduction of these labs is going to help students who are deprived of advanced education due to time or geographical barriers, for whom the expensive equipment and resources will be shared virtually, making them easily accessible and affordable.


Remarkable efforts were made for successful planning and execution of this workshop by Dr. Jayashri Bangali, Nodal Coordinator of Kaveri College's Virtual Laboratory and Prof. Pallavi Joshi, Nodal Technical Coordinator. Principal Dr. Ashok Agarwal and Vice-Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar gave their valuable guidance and support for the workshop. All the faculty members of the college took advantage of this Workshop arranged on virtual labs.
