‘Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri Group of Institutes celebrates 67th Republic Day’

Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri Group of Institutes celebrated 67th Republic Day with great enthusiasm. The Chief Guest Dr. Sujai Hegde, Renowned Oncologist, Guest of Honor Dr. Sheetal Hegde and Special Guest Mr. Santosh Shetty, President, Bunt Sangha graced the occasion. The office bearers of Kannada Sangha, Mr. Kushal Hegde, President, Mr. Narayan Hegde, Vice- President, Mrs. Malathi Kalmadi, Secretary, Mr. B. Baburao, Treasurer, Mr. Shrinivas Alva, Joint Treasurer and Trustees, Dr. Balajith Shetty and Mrs. Radhika Sharma were present on this occasion. The heads of all the units of Kaveri Group of Institutes, Teachers, Parents and students were also present. 
The Chief Guest unfurled the tricolor followed by recitation of National Anthem. Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce recited pledge to all audience for the occasion.
The President of Kannada Sangha, Mr. Kushal Hegde presided over the function.  He welcomed Chief Guest Dr. Sujai Hegde and Special Guest Mr. Santosh Shetty.  Mrs. Malati kalmadi welcomed Guest of Honor Dr. Sheetal Hegde by offering flowers. The chief guest congratulated and gave prizes to the winners for extraordinary achievements in international and national competitions at different areas. After prize distribution, the cultural activities were presented by students of various units.
The chief Guest started his speech with a short story explaining importance of ‘dignity of Labour’. He said, “Every profession in the society is important and we should respect each and every profession in the society. Do what you feel is close to your heart. Be the best in everything you do. Be honest to your profession”. He also asked to be aware of Fundamental Duties with the fundamental rights. While explaining importance of family, close relatives and friends, he gave reference of the scientific research done at Harvard University on the topic “what made them Happy”.
Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice Principal, Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce proposed vote of thanks and Ms. Sayee Kulkarni compeered the programme. The programme concluded with “Vande Matram”

Kaveri College organized Dr. Babasaheb Jaykar lecture series

Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science & Commerce and Bahishal Shikshan Mandal (SPPU) jointly organized Dr. Babasaheb Jaykar lecture series on 13th January to 15th January, 2016. The subjects for the lectures were ‘Tarunyacha Jallosh’, ‘Soundarya Manache, Soundarya Sharirache’ and ‘Spardhatmak Pariksha – Purva Tayari’. Dr. S. B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College, presided over and inaugurated the lecture series. Ms. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice Principal, Kaveri College, Ms. Sujata Bachhav, Chair Person, Bahishal Shikshan Center, Mr. Anand Buddhikot, NSS PO, Staff members and participants were present on this occasion.

In the first session, Mr. Kailas Sonawane delivered a lecture, ‘Tarunyacha Jallosh’. He talked about today’s youth and their role in the society. He expressed his views about eradication of superstitions and appealed the participants to conserve the historical heritage and monuments.   

Dr. Vilina Inamdar, HoD- Geography, H.V. Desai College of Arts, Science and Commerce conducted the lecture on Soundarya Manache, Soundarya Sharirache’ envisioned the participants to the beauty of mind and beauty of eyes, ears, throat, shoulders and hands. Her session was full of interesting activities and narration of her experiences. She said that the beauty of mind lies in positive thinking towards life. Prettiness of eyes is in looking at good things in others. Ears have their beauty in keenly listening to others. Melodious singing is the beauty of the throat. Shouldering the responsibility and accomplishment is the magnificence of shoulders. Beautiful hands clap for the success and achievements of others. She said that such a beautiful mind and body will result into happiness, well being and satisfaction in the lives of ourselves and others.

Mr. Dilip Morale, conducted the third session on ‘Spardhatmak Pariksha – Purva Tayari’. He explained the framework of various competitive exams. He gave inputs about the techniques of preparation, books and websites to be referred. He advised the students on analysis of previous question papers and note-making. He illustrated that a good foundation leads to success.

Ms. Sujata Bacchav, Co-ordinator of the programme, welcomed the speakers. Ms. Bhakti Dandekar and Ms. Sonali Yeole proposed the vote of thanks.



Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce commemorate 153rd Swami Vivekananda Jayanti

Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri College of Arts,Science and Commerce commemorated 153rd  Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekanand by hosting Yuva Saptah , weeklong activities including the lectures and Blood Donation camp during 12-18 January,2016. The inauguration ceremony held at the hands of Chief Guest Mr. Mohan Shete, President of Itihas Premi Mandal, Supervisor and History teacher from New English School, Ramanbaug, Pune. Mr. Kushal Hegde, President, Kannada Sangha presided over the function, Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal of the college welcomed the guest .The other members of Kannada Sangha, Mr. B. B. Rao, Treasurer, Mr. Ramdas Acharya, PRO and Mrs. Rashmi Pattnaik, Administrative Officer graced the occasion. Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice-Principal, Mr. Anand Buddhikot, Program Officer, Mrs. Sujata Bacchav, Head Bahishal Shikshan Mandal of the college, Teachers, and students, were also present on the occasion.  


Mr. Mohan Shete, in his inspiring speech emphasized on the point that instead of celebrating Death anniversary or birth anniversary of great persons, application of their ‘teachings’ and ‘thoughts’ in our day to day life is important. He shared some anecdotes from Swamiji’s life and his thoughts on building the nation through youth by narrating many incidents from Swamiji’s life like his tour of India, Speech at Chicago and his bereavement.

 On 13th, 14th and 15th January, various inspiring lectures were arranged on the topics ‘Jallosha Tarunyacha”,              “Saundarya Manache, Saundarya Sharirache” & “Spardhatmak Pariksha Purva tayari”. On 16th January Mr. Kalyan Raman created awareness among the students about use of helmet & road safety rules. He explained to the students about care to be taken while purchasing helmet, walking on the road, etc. He demonstrated the test for purchasing Helmet and answered the queries of the students. 
The Youth Week ended with the Blood donation camp arranged by the NSS dept with the help of ‘Puna Serological Institute’s Blood Bank’. College Staff and the students donated blood in the Blood donation camp. Total 47 donors donated blood and 75 students hemoglobin check up was done during this camp

All the activities of the Youth week were efficiently managed and conducted by Mr. Anand Buddhikot, NSS PO, Mrs. Sujata Bacchav, Head Bahishal Shikshan Mandal  and their team under the able guidance of Dr. S.B. Kharosekar.

Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce organizes State Level Seminar

Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce has organized State Level Seminar on ‘Recent Development in Indian Banking Sector’ on 23rd January, 2016. The Seminar is sponsored by Savitribai Phule Pune University under Quality Improvement Programme organized by Department of Business Economics, Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune. The seminar aims to provide a platform for intellectuals to deliberate upon developments in Indian Banking Sector. Sub-themes of the seminar are Differential Banking in India, Changes in the Monetary Policy of Reserve Bank of India, and Green Banking in India.
The seminar will be inaugurated at the hands of Shri. Kushal Hegde, President, Kannada Sangha, Pune on 23rd January, 2016. Chief Guest of the seminar is Dr. Achintan Bhattacharya, Director, NIBM, Pune. Kaveri College celebrates 153rd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda





Kannada Sangha,Pune’s Kaveri College of Science and Commerce NSS department inaugurated on 12th January, 2016 a week long YuvaSaptah’ to commemorate 153rd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The chief guest for the function was Mr. Mohan Shete, president of Itihas Premi Mandal, Supervisor and history teacher from New English School, Ramanbaug, Pune. Mr. Kushal Hegde, President, Kannada Sangha and other members of Kannada Sangha, Mr. B. B. Rao, Treasurer, Mr. Ramdas Acharya, PRO and Mrs. Rashmi Pattnaik, Administrative Officer graced the occasion.  Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal of the college, Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice-Principal, Mr. Anand Buddhikot, Program Officer, Mrs. Sujata Bacchav, Head Bahishal Shikshan Mandal of the college, Teachers, and students, were also present on the occasion.  

The programme started with NSS Song by the students. Dr. S. B. Kharosekar explained the importance of Swamiji’s valuable thoughts in the inaugural speech. He said Swamiji was Great Patriot, internationalist, entertaining conversionalist, man with soul of forgiveness, man of action, idealist, stern realist with feet on earth and compassionate companion. He referred to the initiative of Govt. of Maharashtra’s ‘jeevan mulye’ and said that “Swamiji was having all these values in his personality which made him unique.”
Mr. Mohan Shete, in his inspiring speech emphasized on the point that instead of celebrating Death anniversary or birth anniversary of great persons, application of their ‘teachings’ and ‘thoughts’ in our day to day life is important. He shared some anecdotes from Swamiji’s life and his thoughts on building the nation through youth by narrating many incidents from Swamiji’s life like his tour of India, Speech at Chicago and his bereavement. He told that Swamiji’s thoughts which were put up by him around 125 yrs ago are relevant even in today’s practical progressive world. Swamiji gave Indians proper understanding of their country’s great spiritual heritage and thus gave them pride in their past. Swamiji made India a nation with a global mission. While expressing the depth and magnitude of Swamiji’s contribution to mankind Mr. Mohan Shete said,“Swami Vivekananda is a subject of study, research and comprehension and not a subject to just worship and forget.”

Mr. Anand Buddhikot proposed vote of thanks and compeering was done by   Mrs. Yogeshwari Dhannak.

Workshop on Women Empowerment and National Integration held at Kaveri College



Adult Continuing Education and Extension cell of Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science & Commerce in association with Savitribai Phule Pune University had arranged two workshops Women Empowerment and National Integration on 8th and 9th January 2016. Eminent personalities in the respective fields addressed the students. The workshop was inaugurated at the hands of Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce. Mrs. Manasi Joshi, Co-ordinator, Adult Continuing Education and Extension cell of the college, Staff members and participants were present on this occasion.
First session of the Workshop on Women Empowerment on 8th January, 2016 was conducted by Mrs. Nisha Bhandare, Professor, Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune.  In her address on the topic ‘Women in the 21st Century’ she said that Indian constitution has given equal rights to women in every field. She also advised girl students to know themselves. She imparted lessons in self-defence to the girl students. The second session was conducted by Dr. Mridula Ranade on the topic ‘Nutrition for Good Health’. She claimed that 70% diseases are cured if we have healthy diet, water and exercise every day. She solved health related queries of the students.
On 9th January, 2016 Workshop on National Integration was arranged. The first session was addressed by Dr. Ganesh Rathod, Director, Social Sciences Centre, on the topic national integration. He emphasized the importance of education. He also stated that national integration can only be observed if we eradicate economic, social and caste discrimination. He insisted upon development of villages for overall development of the nation. In the second session Dr. Ramkrishna Dhere, Professor, Shankarrao Bhelke College, Nasarapur, Pune affirmed that integration is the foundation of nation. He said that every Indian should feel proud of being Indian. Ms. Chaithra Ucchil compeered the workshop and Mrs. Manasi Joshi proposed the vote of thanks. Staff members and students were present in large number for the sessions.

“Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce celebrates Intercollegiate Cultural extravaganza -Yuva Spandan”





Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce’s brand intercollegiate cultural extravaganza- Yuva Spandan took place recently. The inauguration of the event took place at the hands of Mrs. Indira Salian, Vice-President, Kannada Sangha. Mr. B.Baburao, Treasurer, Kannada Sangha graced the occasion. Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Cultural Head, Teaching staff, non-teaching staff and all the enthusiastic volunteers and students of the college were present.

Yuva Spandan started with a fabulous Traditional Day Celebration, Nail Art and Mehendi Competition on 26th Dec, 2015 in the college campus. Varieties of traditional attires were presented by the participants. The titles of ‘Mr.Traditional’ and ‘Ms. Traditional’ were won by Mr. Rupesh Danve SYBCOM and Ms. Sayali Bhagat SYBCOM respectively. Ms. Riddhi Patel TYBCOM won the first prize of Rs. 500/-, Certificate and Trophy and Ms. Nimisha velani won the second prize of a certificate and a trophy in Nail Art Competition. The winners of Mehendi competition were Ms. Jyoti Yenpure SYBCOM who won the first prize of Rs. 500/- , certificate and trophy and Ms. Riddhi Patel TYBCOM won the second prize of certificates and trophy.

The second day 27th Dec, 2015 showcased a spectacular Retro Day and Street Play Competition.  The participants had showed their creativity in their dressing styles and their accessories. The title of ‘Mr. Rajesh Khanna’ was won by Mr Niranjan Nigadikar and Ms. Mumtaz was won by Ms. Vishakha Ganu FYBA. Street Play Competition got overwhelming response of teams exhibiting various social issues. The Competition was judged by Mr. Abhijeet Chaudhary Mr. Soham Gadkari and Mr. Prashant Singh from Swatantra Theatre.  The first Prize worth Rs 3000/-, certificates and Trophy was won by Sir Parshurambhau College. The Second Prize Rs 2000/-, certificates and trophy was won by Modern Law College.

The third day began with a splendid General Quiz Competition followed by Treasure Hunt Competition and Fashion Show on 28th December, 2015.  In General Quiz a team from Yashwantrao Mohol College, Pune won the first prize and the runner up was a team from Fergusson College, Pune. The first prize was Rs. 1000/-, certificate and trophy and the second prize was Rs. 500/-, certificate and trophy. The Treasure Hunt competition was won by Sahil Mahajan, Salil Deshmukh, Dinesh Prajapati and Utkarsha Purandare from FYBCOM with Rs. 1000/-, Certificate and Trophy and the second prize of trophy and certificate was bagged by Mohit Panse, Vaishnavi Adhikari, Siddharth Mehendale, Kshitija Deshpande from FYBSC. The winner of the Fashion Show was a team from MIT College of Arts and Commerce and runner up was a team from Singhagd College of Science, Pune . The title of Ms.Yuva Spandan was won by Ms. Vaishanavi Hublikar of Singhagd College of Science, Pune and Mr. Yuva Spandan was from Mr. Aadhesh  Madhok of Singhagd College of Science, Pune. The event was judged by Mr,Chetan Agarwa, Founder, Chetan Agarwal Foundation and Ms. Ankita Lande, Pune finalist for Miss India.

The intercollege dance competition was conducted on 29th Dec, 2015. It included Solo Dance Competition and Group Dance Competition. The Competition was judged by Ms. Meghana Sabade and Ms. Gauri Swakul, the renowned dance trainers. The winners of Solo Dance competition were Mr. Manish Sharma from Garware College securing 1st prize and Mr. Nikhil Kamble from Sinhagad College secured 2nd prize. The first prize comprised of Rs. 2000, a trophy and a certificate and the second prize comprised of Rs. 1000, a trophy and a certificate. The winner of Group Dance competition was Ms. Sayee Kalyani’s team from BMCC bagging the first prize and Mr. Hrishikesh Kadu’s team from MIT College securing the second prize.  The 1st prize comprised of Rs. 5000, a trophy and certificates and 2nd prize comprised of Rs. 3000, a trophy and certificates.
The most exciting Annual Social Gathering and Dance Competition took place on 30th Dec, 2015. Eye-catching performances of the students took place in the Annual Social Gathering. The most demanding fashion show was conducted. The title of Ms. Kaveri was won by Ms. Vishakha Ganu FYBA and the title of Mr. Kaveri was won by Mr. Aniket Jankar SYBCA.
The event was generously sponsored by Hotel Vaishali and Hotel Sudama, Pune.

Participants from the renowned colleges of Pune like Sinhagad College, MIT, S.P. College, Wadia College, Yashwantrao Mohit College, Mamsaheb Mohol and Kaveri College, etc participated in various events. The Yuva Spandan Student office bearers namely, Mr. Nikhil Patil (President), Ms. Nikita Naik  (Vice-President), Mr. Siddhesh Karanjkar  (Working President), Mr. Pranam Shetty (Secretary) and all other student volunteers of the college tirelessly worked for the event under the leadership of Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal and Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Cultural Head. All the teaching and the non-teaching staff contributed a lot for making this event successful.
