Workshop on Women Empowerment and National Integration held at Kaveri College



Adult Continuing Education and Extension cell of Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science & Commerce in association with Savitribai Phule Pune University had arranged two workshops Women Empowerment and National Integration on 8th and 9th January 2016. Eminent personalities in the respective fields addressed the students. The workshop was inaugurated at the hands of Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce. Mrs. Manasi Joshi, Co-ordinator, Adult Continuing Education and Extension cell of the college, Staff members and participants were present on this occasion.
First session of the Workshop on Women Empowerment on 8th January, 2016 was conducted by Mrs. Nisha Bhandare, Professor, Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune.  In her address on the topic ‘Women in the 21st Century’ she said that Indian constitution has given equal rights to women in every field. She also advised girl students to know themselves. She imparted lessons in self-defence to the girl students. The second session was conducted by Dr. Mridula Ranade on the topic ‘Nutrition for Good Health’. She claimed that 70% diseases are cured if we have healthy diet, water and exercise every day. She solved health related queries of the students.
On 9th January, 2016 Workshop on National Integration was arranged. The first session was addressed by Dr. Ganesh Rathod, Director, Social Sciences Centre, on the topic national integration. He emphasized the importance of education. He also stated that national integration can only be observed if we eradicate economic, social and caste discrimination. He insisted upon development of villages for overall development of the nation. In the second session Dr. Ramkrishna Dhere, Professor, Shankarrao Bhelke College, Nasarapur, Pune affirmed that integration is the foundation of nation. He said that every Indian should feel proud of being Indian. Ms. Chaithra Ucchil compeered the workshop and Mrs. Manasi Joshi proposed the vote of thanks. Staff members and students were present in large number for the sessions.
