Skill Series Workshops at Kaveri


Placement Cell and Vocational Guidance Cell of Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune in association with IMS Proschool, Pune conducted a 3 hours hands-on workshop on Data Science & Analytics, and Management on 14 December 2019. Target audience for this workshop were final year students of B. Sc, BBA (CA). Resource person for the workshop was Mr. Ritul Kumar, IMS Proschool. He guided the students about big data, data analysis and data science. He conducted hands-on sessions for data analysis using Tableau software.  The session was very informative and students enjoyed learning the data science through practical assignments. Around 40 students benefited from the program.

A workshop on Finance and Investment Banking was conducted in Kaveri College on 19 December 2019 in association with IMS Proschool, Pune. This workshop was a part of skill series workshops organised by Kaveri College. The workshop was designed for final year students of B.Com and BBA. Mr. Lalit Fulara, visiting faculty, IMS, Proschool and interim CEO, CFA Charter holder was the resource person for this workshop. He briefly explained about investment banking and its importance in economy. He trained the students on how to prepare a financial model of franchise investors from the point of view of the equity investors using Microsoft Excel.  The workshop was not only informative but also had practical approach. Around 30 students benefited from the workshop.

Special Winter Camp of NSS Unit of Kaveri College


The National Service Scheme unit of Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce in association with Savitribai Phule Pune Univeresity organized the seven-day Special Winter Camp at Kasar Amboli, Tal. Mulshi, Dist. Pune from 11th December 2019 to 17th December 2019. The theme of this year’s Special Winter camp was “Saksham Yuva Samartha Bharat, Ek Bharat Shreththa Bharat”. Hon. Mrs. Malati Kalmadi, Secretary, Kannada Sangha Pune, presided over the inauguration function of the camp. The camp was inaugurated at the hands of Hon. Sarpanch, Mrs. Shradhhali Sutar. Dr. Ashok M. Agrawal, Principal, Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar Vice Principal, Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Coordinator Arts, Dr. Jayashri Bangali, Coordinator Science, Dr. Deepa Sathe, Coordinator Commerce, Mr. Nilesh Nemade, NSS Program Officer, Mrs. Manasi Joshi, Assistant Program Officer, NSS, were also present for the same. In addition, Hon. Mr. Sagar Katkar, Member, Z.P, Deputy Sarpanch Mr. Shekhar Shinde, along with Grampanchayat Members, Mrs. Suvarna Marane, Mr. Rajendra Marane, Mr. Balasaheb Shinde, Mr. Suresh Sutar, Mrs. Suvarna Sutar, Mr. Prakash Kamble,  other villagers, faculty members of the college and all NSS Volunteers were present for the inauguration. Total 50 NSS volunteers participated in the camp and rendered their service towards society with the motto 'Not Me But You'.
NSS volunteers followed a disciplined routine during the camp which included rally in the morning for creating awareness on social issues, cleanliness drives, activities with school students, guest lectures, etc. Guest lectures on varied topics were arranged for the students. On the first day Mr. Sachin Deokate informed the young volunteers on Financial Planning. On the next day alumnus Mr. Siddharth Mehendale demonstrated self defence techniques for girl volunteers.  Dr. Ashwini Deshpande created awareness on ‘HIV-AIDS’ commemorating World AIDS Day which is observed on December 1st.  Mr. Shashikant Soman reminded the volunteer of their NSS duties and also threw light on how NSS helps in ones personality development. He also mentioned the pivotal role of NSS volunteers in nation building. Mr. Anand Buddhikot, Assistant Professor, Kaveri College enlightened the students on ‘Goal Setting and Time Management’. Mr. Vikram Aarane gave information about various competitive examinations, syllabus for the exams and paper patterns. On 15 December 2019 Mr. Vishwas Shirsat, Deputy Collector, Mr. Yogiraj Bhagat, Assistant Commissioner, State Tax, Mr. Amol Ingale, Deputy Director, Industries, Mr. Chaitanya Kadam, Assistant Commissioner, State Tax, Mr. Aadesh Daphal, Tehsildar  visited the camp site and shared their own journey from being a competitive exam aspirant to a government official. The experience sharing was indeed inspirational for the volunteers. Dr. Shivaji Pacharne, District coordinator NSS, Pune and Dr. Avinash Shelar, Area Coordinator, NSS, Pune visited the camp site and guided the volunteers. Mr. Nilesh Nemade delivered a session on ‘Self Confidence and Leadership Skills’. Members of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Research and Training Institute, Pune informed the volunteers about ‘The Constitution of India’ and gave oath to the volunteers. NSS volunteers also visited Smt. Rani Laxmibai Military School to get information about the daily functioning of the school.
The valedictory function was presided by Dr. Ashok M. Agrawal, Principal, Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce. Dr. Muckta Karmarkar Vice Principal, , Mr. Nilesh Nemade, NSS Program Officer, , Mrs. Manasi Joshi, Assistant Program Officer NSS, Dr. Anand Buddhikot, Student Development Officer were present for  the same. Hon. Mrs. Shradhhali Sutar, Sarpanch, Kasar Amboli, Hon. Ms. Shekhar Shinde, Deputy Sarpanch, Hon. Mr.  Umesh Sutar, member, Grampanchayat, Kasar Amboli,   Hon. Mr. Mohan Shinde , member, Hon. Mrs. Chaya Bhilare member, Hon. Mr. Suryakant Gaikwad, Gramsevak, Hon. Mr. Kashilkar Bhausaheb, Ex. Gramsevak graced the occasion. Dr. Shweta Bapat, Coordinator BBA and BBA-IB, Mrs. Sujata Bacchav, Coordinator BBA-CA, Mrs.Chitra Alavani, Coordinator, M.Sc. and faculty members along with all NSS Volunteers were present on this occasion.
Mr. Nilesh Nemade, Programme officer, NSS presented the report of NSS camp through power point presentation. Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Principal, in his speech congratulated the NSS unit and all the student volunteers for successful completion of the special winter camp. He remembered his college days and shared his own experience as a NSS volunteer. He thanked all the members of Grampanchayat of Kasar Amboli for their cooperation for successfully completion of this camp. He also thanked them for their association with Kaveri College for last few years.
Hon. Mrs. Shradhhali Sutar, Sarpanch, Kasar Amboli gave her best wishes for the future work of NSS unit of Kaveri College. Mr. Mohan Shinde congratulated all the NSS volunteers and staff members for their selfless service. He guided students through his own experience. Mr. Suryakant Gaikwad, Gramsevak also congratulated all the NSS volunteers for the social work done by them during the camp. Student volunteers shared their experiences, their learning etc. during the camp. Mr. Harsh Joshi, NSS volunteer of SY BBA-IB compered the function. Mrs. Manasi Joshi, Assistant Programme officer, NSS proposed vote of thanks.


National Level Hackathon for the Very First Time at Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce


Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized a National Level Hackathon -1.0 on 20th and 21st December 2019, in association with MTC Global Bengaluru, Dhaka International University and  Global Entrepreneurs Grid, Bengaluru.  The event was inaugurated at the hands of Principal Dr. Ashok Agrawal in the presence of Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice Principal, Dr. Jayashri Bangali, IQAC Coordinator & B.Sc (CS) Coordinator, Mentors and Judges of Hackathon, Mr. Amit Bagaitkar, Director-Product Engineering Harman International, Mr. Tushar Chaudhari Program Manager, Harman International, Ms. Madhuri Deshpande, HOD Computer Science, S. P. College, Pune , Ms. Chitra Alavani Coordinator Kaveri Hackathon and other faculty members.
On the first day of this two days event, students were given eight problem statements concerned with issues like food wastage management for canteen, bus routing management, car pooling, etc. out of which they had to choose one problem for implementation. Respective teams were given three hours to comprehend and grasp the problem, design a solution for it after which they were evaluated. On the second day students presented their problem statements, their understanding of the problem, scope considered and assumptions made for solving the problem along with the team break down structure on the basis of which they were evaluated.
The prize distribution ceremony was held on 21 December 2019 at the hands of Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Principal, Kaveri College. At the time of prize distribution ceremony Mr. Amit Bagaitkar suggested the participants that they should spend more time in designing the solution instead of just building block of codes. He also advised the participants to have in-depth understanding of subjects like Mathematics and Statistics as these subjects help in logic building and are useful for the upcoming fields like data sciences.
Total 12 teams from colleges in Pune like MIT WPU, Fergusson College, Pratibha Institute of Business Management, Modern College of Business Administration apart from Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce participated in the competition. The team from Pratibha Institute of Business Management consisting of Mr. Dev Thakur, Mr. Rohan Shelar, Mr. Vivek Thakur, Mr. Virender Vishwakarma and Mr. Badal Chauhan won the first prize worth Rs. 7000, the team from Ferguson College consisting of Ms. Shivalika Saxena, Mr. Atharva Madiwale, Ms. Mariam Andagi, Ms. Pranoti Gaikwad and Mr. Abhishek Kushare  won the second prize worth Rs 5000 and the team from MIT WPU consisting of Mr. Anuj Shenoy, Mr. Akshay Galande and Mr. Rishikesh Mane won the third prize of Rs 3000.  All the students received participation certificates. The Hackathon- 1.0 thus became yet another successful and memorable event for the college.

Alumni Meet at Kaveri


The yearly alumni Meet of Kaveri Group of Institutes was held on 21st December 2019 at 5 pm in Shakuntala Jagannath Shetty Auditorium, Ganeshnagar, Pune. Alumni of Dr. Kalmadi Shamarao High School and Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce attended the event. Mr. Kushal Hegde, President, Kannada Sangha, Mrs. Indira Salian, Vice President Kannada Sangha, Dr. Narayan Hegde, Vice President Kannada Sangha, Mrs. Radhika Sharma, Jt. Treasurer Kannada Sangha were present at the occasion.
The Alumni Meet began with the school prayer. Mr. Kushal Hegde, President Kannada Sangha, delivered the inaugural address. The former students of school, who have excelled in their fields i.e. The Super Achievers, were felicitated by the management members of Kannada Sangha. Mr. Milind Sohoni, Area Leader and Professor of Operations Management at the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad; Mr. Niranjan Kirloskar, Managing Director of Fleetguard Filters Pvt. Ltd., Pune; Dr. Rewati Deshmukh, Professor, Bharati Vidyapeeth’s Dental College and Hospital, Pune; Mr. Kaustubh Radkar, former National Swimming champion and 20 times Ironman Triathlon athlete.  An Ironman Triathlon is one of a series of long-distance triathlon races organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC), consisting of a 2.4-mile (3.86 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bicycle ride and a marathon 26.22-mile (42.20 km) run, raced in that order. It is widely considered one of the most difficult one-day sporting events in the world;  Mr. Aroh Velankar, who acted in Marathi movies like Rege, Ghantaa and Kewada (short film) etc. were felicitated on this occasion. All the Super Achievers expressed their gratitude towards the school and their teachers. They remembered their school days fondly and also mentioned how the seeds of their extraordinary talent were sown in the school and encouraged by the teachers time and again.
The programme was followed by a performance by Mr. Atul Sonar and Ms. Aishwarya Mali, alumni of Kaveri College performed on retro themed songs. Mr. Prashant Naseri performed an orchestra on old and new songs. The alumni grooved on the tunes of old and new songs and bonded over old school and college times. 
Vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Sayee Kulkarni. She announced the date of the next alumni meet which is 19th December 2020.

A workshop on ‘Nurturing Entrepreneurship and Startups in India’ in Kaveri College

Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce in collaboration with MTC Global, Global Entrepreneurs Grid, Bengaluru and Dhaka International University conducted a workshop on ‘Nurturing Entrepreneurship and Startups in India’ on Tuesday, 24 September, 2019 at 10.00am. Dr. Himachalam Dasaraju, Senior Fellow and Professor Emeritus, Department of Commerce, Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati, was the key speaker for this workshop.
Dr. Dasaraju enlightened the students about the ABC’s of entrepreneurship and start-ups. He advised the participants on various things like identifying the right business, business planning, knowing target audience, understanding personal finances and choosing the right kind of money for business. He also expressed the importance of building a support network and selling by creating value.
He also shared some stories of young entrepreneurs who were successful at a young age.

Workshop on Analysing Balance Sheet in 30 Seconds’ at Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce


Department of Commerce, Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce organised a ‘Workshop on Analysing Balance Sheet in 30 Seconds’ on 16 December, 2019 in collaboration with MTC Global, Global Entrepreneurs Grid, Bengaluru and Dhaka International University.
 Dr. S. Chandrasekar, Managing Director, EmpoVer HR Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru was the resource speaker for the day. He is also a corporate trainer and one of the important dignitaries of MTC Global. The workshop began with the introduction of the speaker. Mrs. Pooja Ambole, in the introduction mentioned that Dr. S. Chandrasekar has 27 years of experience in rural, semi-urban and urban banks. He has conducted around 600 workshops in more than 200 B-schools and educational institutions. Principal Dr. Ashok Agrawal felicitated the resource speaker. In his inaugural speech Dr. Agrawal welcomed the resource speaker and explained the students the usefulness of the workshop. He emphasized that this workshop will be an asset in their professional career. Vice Principal, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Co-ordinator, Commerce, Dr. Deepa Sathe, staff members and students were present for the same.
This workshop aimed at developing analytical skills for lifetime. Dr. S. Chandrashekar began the workshop with a fun activity for the students as an energy booster. He explained the aspects, elements and analysis of a balance sheet. He then conducted a practical session wherein the students were made to analyse different types of balance sheet. The key steps mentioned by him for successfully analyzing a balance sheet included, preparation of mini balance sheet, applying asset liability management, identify diversion, conversion into percentage with the help of diversion formula, analysis whether balance sheet is good or bad. He also explained some important terms related to the elements of balance sheet and formulae of ratio analysis which are helpful in the analysis of balance sheet in 30 seconds. Around 70 students including the students of Kaveri and other colleges in Pune like Symbiosis College of Arts, Science and Commerce, MIT- World Peace University, Suryadatta College attended the workshop and benefitted from it.

Orientation Programme for NSDL Certification Course at Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce


Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce organised an ‘Orientation programme for NSDL Certification Course’ on 13th December, 2019. Mr. Miheer Moghe, Manager, NSDL was the resource speaker for the program. Principal, Dr. Ashok Agrawal in his inaugural speech welcomed Mr. Miheer Moghe and explained the students how invaluable the NSDL Certification Course is in this competitive era. He further suggested the students to grab this incredible opportunity. Vice Principal, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Co-ordinator of Commerce, Dr. Deepa Sathe, Co-ordinator of BBA and BBA-IB, Dr. Shweta Bapat, Faculty members and students were present for the same.

In his address Mr. Moghe introduced the concept of NSDL and explained its functions. He enriched the students with knowledge of capital market, existing types of markets, depository progress, importance of investments, etc. He further elaborated on Indian Financial Market, He also explained the difference between demat account, brokerage account and bank account. He addressed the myth that one needs handsome amount of money to invest in stock market and said it is a false notion. Mr. Moghe concluded his session saying, ‘Investment is making your savings work for you'. 40 Students from BCom and BBA benefited from this orientation programme, few amongst them acknowledged the fact that a certification course in NSDL will aid them in boosting their resume and showed interest in joining the course. 

‘An awareness Seminar on Preparation for Careers in Banking and Finance’ organised at Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce


Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce organised ‘An awareness Seminar on Preparation for Careers in Banking and Finance on 10th December 2019. Mr. Prakash Kondpalle a renowned banker was the resource speaker for the day. Principal, Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Vice Principal, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Co-ordinator of Commerce, Dr. Deepa Sathe, staff members and students were present for the same. The session was instantly taken over by the resource speaker after his felicitation by the Principal.
Mr. Prakash Kondpalle enlightened the students about a plethora of opportunities in the banking industry which includes public banks, private banks, co-operative banks and small finance banks. He also informed about the IBPS entrance examination, its schedule, discussed the pattern and syllabus of the entrance exam.  He mentioned the significance and scope of Diploma in Banking and Finance and how it will be instrumental in fetching various career prospects in this field. Ms. Kshitija Kulkarni, a student of S.Y. B.com shared her experience of successfully completing her Diploma in Banking and Finance under the guidance of Mr. Prakash Kondapalle and his team. 87 students attended the seminar.

5th Kaveri Film Festival


Faculty of Arts organized the 5th Kaveri Film Festival from 26 to 28 November 2019. The Film Festival was started in 2015 with an objective to make students understand and appreciate world and Indian cinema and learn life lessons through films.

This year’s Film Festival showcased films like Black Swan, The Miracle Worker and Gafla. Each film screening was followed by an activity involving students.

Commemorating the 70th Constitution Day on 26 November 2019, a documentary titled ‘The Making of Indian Constitution’ was shown to the audience. A short discussion took place after the screening, on the efforts and thought process involved in the making our Constitution. In addition, Chaitrali Kshirsagar, student from SYBA, recited the Preamble of the Constitution.

This was followed by screening of the movie Black Swan. The film highlights psychological condition of a ballerina who struggles to prove her mettle on stage. After the screening, students analyzed the film and discussed the portrayal of the protagonist’s mental disorder.

On 27 November, The Miracle Worker, a 2000 classic, was showcased. The movies depicts Anne Sullivan’s struggle to draw the blind and deaf Helen Keller out of her dark and lonely world. Audience discussed the life lessons learnt from the movie.

On 28 November, a Hindi film titled ‘Gafla’ was screened. The movie shows the working of Indian stock exchange, the infamous stock market scam of 1992 and how the scam affected the lives of common investors.

The activities followed by each film screening were finely executed by Soham Jadhav, student from SYBA. All the films received great appreciation from the students. Their enthusiasm and active participation made the film festival a success.

Kaveri Leadership Development Programme


The first ever Kaveri Leadership Development Programme for the Third Year students of the college was conducted from 11 to 23 October 2019. Mr. Munir Damani, Executive Coach and a Soft Skill Trainer, was invited to be the Resource Person for the Programme. The Programme was inaugurated by Principal Dr. Ashok Agrawal. He motivated the participants by stating that everybody has leadership skill one needs to hone and channelize it properly in the right direction.
The objective of the Programme was to instil in students all the required skills to make them competent in their endeavours.

 Mr. Damani took the participants through a very challenging process where in he guided students about how to set the goal, priorities it and the ways to achieve the goal. He also added the need of practising, mindfulness for intent listening.
In the process Mr. Damani highlighted on several qualities of a successful leader, viz., having an open -growth mindset, inclusive skills and critical thinking skills. He emphasised that skills like time management, communication skills, innovation, creativity, team building etc. are the milestones in achieving bigger dreams in life.
Participants were guided for preparation of competitive exams like GMAT, GRE and IELTS. Certification courses like REBT (Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy) and ECD (Early Childhood Development) were advised to students who want to pursue career in Psychology.
Thus, the students had an amazing experience of knowing and exploring their potentials, gained confidence and learnt about new avenues of learning and growing. The Programme was a grand success owing to the commitment, dedication and intensive learning approach adopted by both the trainer and the participating-learners.

Industrial Visit by Students of Kaveri


Keveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune organised an Industrial Visit for the students of BBA and BBA IB on 18 October 2019 to ‘Mulay Moulds Pvt. Ltd.’ and ‘Mercedes Benz’, accompanied by the teachers.

Kaveri is one of the few colleges to visit Mercedes Benz.  The students got the opportunity to see the actual manufacturing process of a Mercedes brand of luxury car. They learned about the challenges that  manager might face while working in this industry. Right from the engine induction to the final quality check, the students witnessed all the steps in the manufacturing process. They learned that the capacity of the plant is 20,000 cars. They also got to see the Maybach, a model that is being manufactured exclusively in India and Germany.
The PPT Presentation was very informative and the students gained significant knowledge about “Mercedes Benz” as a brand and its presence in India compared to that in the world. After the presentation a question and answer round was conducted wherein the Marketing Manager addressed many queries and doubts of the students. In a nutshell, the students got to see the practical applications of their studies and also got exposure to the real managerial world. Based solely on how much knowledge the students acquired the visit was a success.

Mulay Polymers Pvt. Ltd. is a manufacturer of Bike Plastic Handle Grip, Bike Plastic Visor and Car Plastic Dashboard. The factory is situated in Chakan near Pune. One of the major department in the factory is Production and Operation along with Purchase, Marketing and Accounting.
 Main aim of industrial visit is to provide an exposure to students about practical working environment. They also provide students a good opportunity to gain full awareness about industrial practices.The visits helped the students to learn the Production and Operations management system, cooperation and team building. Students could very well associate the conceptual aspects learned in classroom with industrial environment. Major learning outcomes from the industrial visit were organisational structure, Production & Management Quality Standards, Branding & Marketing Concepts, Corporate Strategy and Organizational Culture. 47 students were benefited from the visit.

First Time Voters Awareness Programme at Kaveri


Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce organised a programme ‘The importance of casting vote and the underlying dynamics of the first time voters’, on 19th October 2019 to spread awareness regarding voting process. Principal Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Vice Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, teachers and students were also present.
The resource person for the lecture was Ms. Juhi Sadhwani, visiting faculty at Symbiosis School of Economics. She explained the importance of voting to the first time voters. She stated if we do not cast a vote we have no right to say positive or negative things about the Government. She highlighted the problems faced by first time voters and informed how to solve them. She informed about the process of how to enroll your name in the voters list. She also mentioned there are almost 15 million first time voters for the 2019 election. She further informed that it is mandatory to maintain the secrecy while voting.

All the students wholeheartedly and enthusiastically participated in the activity that she conducted. Almost 50 students attended the program.

Placement in Digital Age Session at Kaveri



Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce conducted a session on ‘How to Get Placement in Digital Age’ on 23th October, 2019 in collaboration with MTC Global, Global Entrepreneurs Grid, Bengaluru and Dhaka International University. Mr. Ramesh Vemuganti a global speaker, corporate trainer and one of the pillars of MTC Global was the resource speaker for the day. Principal, Dr. Ashok Agrawal in his inaugural speech said Kaveri’s association with Mr. Ramesh Vemuganti goes way back in time and mentioned how he has been instrumental in guiding the students for securing the best placement opportunities. Vice Principal, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Coordinator Dr. Deepa Sathe, Faculty members and students were present for the same.

While addressing the gathering, the resource person mentioned we are living in 21st century which is governed by digitalisation. This digital era is characterised by a rapid shift from traditional industry to an economy based on information technology. So with this drastic change it is needless to say that we have to modify our conventional approaches as well as develop new skills according to the changing demands of the industries, we have to keep up with the global transformation for better placement opportunities. He said experience always defeats qualifications. He suggested the students to replace the idea of placement with quest of acquiring more knowledge and learning, for knowledge is phenomenal and ageless. He emphasised upon continuous learning as it facilitates growth and development. He also shared the secrets of becoming a global player which will place them one step ahead in this age of cut throat competition and will help them to stand out in the crowed. He said chalking out a daily schedule and following it thoroughly is of utmost significance. Besides, he advised students to follow ‘CASK’ which stands for communication, attitude, skills and knowledge.

While concluding the session he said do not major in minors. There are around 2000 career options, students have to evaluate it, find what suits them best and groom themselves accordingly. Having an idea, creative thinking, adopting positive attitude, maintaining integrity are few other qualities that students should imbibe for a promising future. He conducted fun filled activities where students actively participated. The informal tone adopted by the speaker was much appreciated by the students. Around 110 students benefited from this session.



150 th Birth Anniversary of M.K. Gandhi Celebrated at Kaveri



Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce to commemorate 150 th Birth Anniversary of M.K. Gandhi organised various social activities under National Service Scheme Department on 2th October2019. Mr.Nilesh Nemade, Programme Officer explained the outline of the programme and welcomed all. Principal Dr. Ashok Agarwal in his inaugural addressed mentioned the importance of personality development which occurs through participation in NSS. Vice Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, teachers and students were also present.

The programme started with NSS song. The dignitaries paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. After this, a rally was organised to spread awareness about cleanliness. Students exhibited posters based on the ideas of 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan', 'Plastic Free India' and Mahatma Gandhi. They cleaned the campus and segregated the waste.

A guest lecture by Vaijayanti Chiplonkar, who has worked in Hujurpaga College as Head of Bahishal Department, was arranged. She emphasised on the labour culture and how Gandhi was instrumental in promoting the same. She also acknowledged the importance of non-violence, mental health, social hygiene, organic food production, as preached by Gandhi. She further informed about the works of Sant Gadge Baba and Kasturba Gandhi to emphasize the importance of cleanliness. The programme was concluded by vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. Manasi Joshi.


A Session on Sustainable Development at Kaveri


  Kaveri College of Arts Science and commerce organised a programme on 'Interesting Science Fiction'under Science Association on 27th September 2019. Dr. Sanjay Daga Dhole, Professor of Physics at Pune University was the resource person. Dr Sanjay Daga Dhole has written as well as published science fictions, with a view to create interest in reading and foster scientific perspectives. He presented the students with 'Aghatit' and other stories which laid out intriguing scientific facts. He said that humankind must balance nature for sustainable development. He created awareness regarding disaster effects caused due to the interference with cycle of nature. He further mentioned that these stories would help students learn the complicated concepts in a simplified manner which will aid them to understand their role in of sustainable development. This was followed by a question answer round. Around 80 students participated.


Vachan Prerana Divas Celebrated at Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce


Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce to commemorate former President, Late Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s Birth Anniversary, had celebrated ‘Vachan Prerana Divas’ on 17th October, 2019. Principal Dr. Ashok Agrawal, in his address said the students saying, reading is the essence of sustenance. He urged them to spend more time in library amidst the company of books and enrich their lives with knowledge, insight and vision. Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice Principal, Faculty members and students were present for the same.
Ms. Sayee Kulkarni presented a book review on the entire series of Harry Potter’s  novels authored by J. K. Rowling which are well liked by students of all age group. She emphasized on life skills like undying bond of friendship, significance of tolerance and confidence. She also threw light upon the elements of magic realism, character development, settings, etc. which helped students discover the joy of reading. She concluded the session by highlighting the importance of reading and suggested them to inculcate it as their hobby because any book is a storehouse of knowledge. 80 students attended the event with great enthusiasm.

World Mental Health Day Celebrated at Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce
According to the recent survey by the American Psychological Association, a life is lost every 40 seconds to suicide; yet, there isn’t sufficient amount of awareness regarding the seriousness of suicidal tendencies, thoughts and the act of committing suicide. Keeping this in view, the UN declared Suicide Prevention as a theme to spread awareness globally this 27th  Mental Health Day. To contribute to it, Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce celebrated this Mental Health Day like every year on 10 October, 2019. Principal Dr. Ashok Agrawal felicitated Mrs. Mughdha Shivapurkar, resource person for the session. Vice Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Faculty members and students were also present for the same.
Right from the decorations to the activities were planned and executed by the dynamic second and third year students pursuing B.A. Psychology. The event began with introducing each other using Chinese ribbons. It was followed by fun filled Visual and Art Therapy workshop, activities involving teamwork, sharing one’s insecurities etc. Mrs Mugdha Shivapurkar also introduced them to small mental health care practices which they can follow on a daily basis. She was given a souvenir as a token of appreciation decorated with the students’ experiences and compliments about how helpful these activities were for them.
Keeping prevention is better than cure as the motto and with an overall objective of spreading awareness to overcome the stigma of mental health problems this day was celebrated which became another successful and memorable event for the college.

Workshop on Self Defence Techniques for Girls at Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce.



A workshop on Self Defence Techniques for girls was arranged by Women’s Forum Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune on Saturday 5 October, 2019. Mrs. Rachana Dhopeshwar, Gold Medalist, Commonwealth and National Judo Coach was the Resource Person for the workshop who was accompanied by her team comprising of Ms. Rucha Dhopeshwar, International Judo Player who also holds fifth place in Asia, Ms. Gautami Kanchan Commonwealth Silver Medalist, Mr. Aditya Dhopavkar Commonwealth Silver Medalist and Ms. Piyusha Dhamale National Judo Player. The workshop began with a welcome address by Mrs. Pooja Ambole, Chairperson Women’s Forum followed by an inaugural address by Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Principal, Kaveri College. Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice Principal, Faculty members and students were present for the same.

Mrs. Rachana Dhopeshwar in her session shared some words of wisdom and said that self defense does not only mean defending oneself from robbery and sexual harassment but also preventing physical damage caused as a result of accidents. The workshop focused on Techniques of falling, Techniques of Self Defense during Accidents and Self Defense from Robbery and Sexual harassment. It included the demonstration of various types of jumps and measures to balance weight while jumping, to choke a wind pipe and to slip from a tight grip in case of severe attack and similar other techniques of defeating the attacker. It was tightly packed with numerous such demonstrations. Besides, it was a practical session involving the participants’ active participation. It was concluded by a question answer round. Twenty two girls benefited from this session.

Mumbai Dabbewala Management Theory Explored at Kaveri.


Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce organised ‘Out of The Box Management’ session on Mumbai Dabbewala Management Theory under Kaveri Entrepreneur Development Cell ( KEDC )on 7th September 2019. President of Mumbai Dabbewala Association Mr. Subhash Talekar was invited to guide our students, who also spoke about the Six Sigma Performance Theory. President Mr. Kushal Hedge, Secretary Malati Kalmadi, Trustee Mr. Balajit Shetty, Joint Treasurer Ms. Radhika Sharma, Principal Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Vice Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, students from other colleges, parents, corporate personals, teachers and around 550 students attended the programme.
 Mr.Talekar took the audience by surprise with his witty and informative presentation. It started with a short film ‘Steps and Strides’ featuring the Mumbai Dabbewalas, their hard work and precise planning. He further shared a beautiful incident about the statue at Hazi Ali chowk, difficulties they had to face and how they managed to convince everyone for the same. He shared the history of the organisation and its functioning. The presentation was followed by a question answer round, parents and students actively participated in this round. The key takeaways of the session were the supply chain management which is followed by the dabbewalas, the uninterrupted services that is provided for all these years Mr.Talekar was proud to inform all that the dabbewalas take only 2 holidays a year, he further mentioned that team work and customer care are the back bone of any business. All these points were unfolded with interesting stories and incidents which dabbewalas have witnessed all these years. The session proved  to be highly informative for all.

Industrial Visit by Kaveri


Kevari College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune organised an Industrial Visit for the students of SY, TYBBA and TYBBA IB on 28 August 2019 to Pacific Semiconductors Private Limited (PSPL) and Bhagirathi Foods, accompanied by the teachers.

Pacific Semiconductors Private Limited (PSPL) functions in the areas like designing, development, manufacturing and assembly-integration for the Indian Armed Forces and Ordnance Factories.  Mr Prashant Deshpande is the founder Director of Pacific, guided students and showed them the Assembly room and explained about different testing techniques. .

Bhagirathi Foods is a chocolate manufacturing company. The visit to this institute provided students the information about the processes of packaging and chocolate manufacturing.These two companies provided the students with real insight of working procedure of the organisation. The visit to both the Companies provided an opportunity for the students to get a hands-on learning experience of the industry operations.

Around 96 students benefited from the visits. The visits helped the students to understand the dynamics of start-ups and growth of industries.

Dr. Shamarao Kalmadi State Level Elocution Competition at Kaveri


Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce organised the 9th Dr. Shamarao Kalmadi State Level Elocution Competition on 16th September, 2019. The Competition was inaugurated at the hands of Mrs. Indira Salian, Vice- President, Kannada Sangha, Pune  in the presence of Principal Dr. Ashok Agrawal and Vice- Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar. Mrs. Salian who was also the Chief Guest for this session boosted the enthusiasm of the participants saying, one should embrace opportunities with open arms, be fearless and speak ‘Bindass’. Principal in his address, briefed everyone present on the progressive journey of the College which was followed by a vote of thanks given by the Vice- Principal. Participants got a chance to choose from a plethora of interesting topics like Sustainable Development- Social and Economical, Lokmanya Tilak- Man of the Era, Image on Social Media- Myth or Reality, Saints of Maharashtra and Social Upliftment, Vision India 2047. Students from all over Maharashtra from different colleges and universities like MIT, SPPU, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Bharati Vidyapeeth University, SNDT University, etc eagerly took part in it. 40 participants used the platform to share their views. Later,11 participants registered for impromptu, Marathi and English were the medium of expression for both the sessions. Dr. Supriya Sahastrabuddhe, Mrs. Vrushali Deodhar and Dr. Balchandra Kaprekar.
Dr. N.M. Joshi, renowned writer and the founder member of Maharashtra Sahitya Pratishthan was the chief guest for the prize distribution ceremony. Being a multilinguist himself, he emphasised upon the significance of knowing multiple languages for becoming an effective speaker. Participants who secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions were Sanjiwani Somase from Abasaheb Garware College, Pune, Aniket Sawant from M.P. Law College, Aurangabad and Nikhil Belote from Abasaheb Garware College, Pune. They bagged a cash prize worth Rs. 5000 and the prestigious rolling trophy, Rs.3000 along with a trophy and Rs.2000 along with a trophy respectively. For the Impromptu 1st, 2nd and 3rd ranks were bagged by Nikhil from Abasaheb Garware College, Pune, Shravan Shinde from Indira College of Commerce and Science, Pune and Soureesh Patil fromCOEP. They were awarded with Rs. 500, 300 and 200 as cash prize respectively. Dr. Joshi congratulated all the participants and appreciated their enthusiasm. The programme was a huge success and was concluded by a formal vote of thanks.

Placement Cell Programme in Association with T.I.M.E.in Kaveri


Placement cell of the Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce organised a session on preparation of different placement opportunities engaging the students of SY and TY in association with T.I.M.E, Pune from 9th to 11th  September 2019. Principal Dr. Ashok Agrawal inaugurated the session in the presence of Vice- Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Centre Director Dr. Sriram Joshi and Director Mr. Anand Joshi from T.I.M.E. Principal in his address advised the students to build their profile in a way that will guarantee them placements and mentioned the need for making oneself adaptable according to the needs of varied range of industries.
These sessions included guidance on various topics like Profile Building, Verbal and Critical Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude. SY and TY students were guided by Dr. Shriram Joshi and Mr Anand Joshi respectively on Profile Building. They also suggested the students to learn the art of time management, academic improvement to prepare for competitive exams. They further discussed with them the opportunities available after qualifying the exams. The following session was conducted by Mr. Vishal Nandgiri who took hands- on exercises to give an idea about how to answer verbal questions. The last session was conducted by Mr. Narendra Kulkarni who taught the students skills to solve Quantitative Aptitude problems in lesser span of time. Students had a fulfilling experience with all the knowledge imparted in these sessions. 135 students actively participated in the programme.

Swacch Bharat Abhiyan by NSS Unit of Kaveri



On Saturday 7th September 2019, NSS unit of Kaveri in association with Management Guru, Mumbai Dabbawala arranged a Kapada Bank drive, where people donated clothing, garments for the destitute. Besides, under Swacch Bharat Abhiyan, Nirmalya Collection Drive was conducted at Dashbhuja Ganapati Temple on the same day which continued till 12th September.
On this occasion Principal Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Subhash Talekar, President of Dabbawala Association, Mumbai who is also a brand ambassador of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, his associates Mr.Vitthal Sawant and Mr.Anant Talekar actively participated in it and successfully carried forward the drive. Simultaneously a cleanliness drive was also conducted in the college campus where in Principal Sir, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar Vice-Principal, Dr. Jayshree Bangali, Mr. Nilesh Nemade, Programme officer NSS, Mrs. Manasi Joshi, Asst. Programme officer and other NSS volunteers took part in it, with high spirit in an attempt to make the campus spotless. The day proved to be eventful spreading awareness across the town and also served the purpose of commemorating 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
