Kannada sangha’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science & Commerce and Board
of Student Development, SPPU had jointly organized a Dance and Movement
Therapy(DMT) Session on 18th December 2017.
The session was organised by the Arts department of KAveri College and received a huge response from the students who are studying Psychology in different colleges across Pune. The Session was organized to make students aware about the

DMT therapy which is used in order to achieve emotional, cognitive,
physical and social integration.
Principal Dr. S. B. Kharosekar, praised the initiative and cited the
importance of such sessions for the overall development of students. The
session was conducted by Ms. Avantika Malhautra (Psychologist and Expressive
Art Therapist) and Ms. Aarohi Doshi (Psychologist and Dance and Movement
Therapy Facilitator), from Artsphere Pune. The co-ordinator of Arts Dr. Muckta
Karmarkar, and the staff members of Faculty of Arts, were also present on the
occasion.
Ms. Avantika Malhautra and Ms. Aarohi Doshi informed the students about
DMT and its benefits for both physical and
mental health, By using different props such as Ribbons, Newspapers, Charts and sketchpens they explained the students how DMT can be used for stress
reduction, disease prevention, and mood management. A Body movement and Name
choreography activities were also carried out to make them understand about the
range of emotions and body image.
The DMT session received huge response and about 56 students from
Fergusson College, M.E.S Garware College, Dr. D. Y. Patil College of Arts,
Science and Commerce, Nowrosjee Wadia College, Modern College, Ramkrishna More
College and Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce participated in the
session.
The co-ordinator of Arts Dr. Muckta
Karmarkar, and the staff members of Faculty of Arts, were also present on the
occasion.The session concluded with students giving feedback about the session
and certificate distribution. Ms. Gauri Gokhale read the session report. Ms.
Mugdha Shivapurkar presented the vote of thanks.
