'Samvidhan Diwas' celebrated at Kaveri College

 The NSS Unit of Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce celebrated the Samvidhan Diwas on 26th November 2020. This auspicious day was observed online where the NSS volunteers and other students of the college took the oath about the observance of the Indian constitution. The students wholeheartedly took the oath and vowed to observe and respect the Indian democracy and the Indian constitution.

This online event was followed by the oath taking ceremony by the teaching and non-teaching staff of the college. Principal Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Vice Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, NSS Programme Officer Mr. Nilesh Nemade, Office Superintendent Mr. Ravindra Bhalerao were present forthe event.

Principal Dr. Ashok Agrawal first paid tribute to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. He addressed the audience to pay their respect to the Indian constitution. He emphasised on the greatness of the Constitution, which keeps the huge Indian democracy in place. He made the audience aware about the smooth functioning of the political rule which is only because of the provisions in the Constitution. He appealed to everyone to pay respect to the document more than any religious text. He said that the country comes before any religion, or any other group and the country runs on this holy document.

He also paid his tributes to the martyrs of the 26/11 terrorist attacks and the martyrs of other terrorist attacks. Mr. Nilesh Nemade, NSS programme officer administered the constitutional oath. All the teaching and non-teaching staff members participated in the oath taking ceremony. Mrs. Bhakti Dandekar compeered the event.

All the COVID 19 protocols and social distancing norms were followed rigorously during the entire event.

A session on ‘Role of Women in Social work’ conducted at Kaveri College

 

The Department of Student Welfare in association with NSS organized a session on ‘Role of women in Social work’ on 31st October 2020. The session was organized on Google Meet platform because of Covid-19 pandemic. The resource person for the session was the alumna of the college, Ms. Asmita Pawar, Social worker, Centre for Youth Development Activity (CYDA). Ms. Asmita is a B.Com graduate and has completed her MSW from Karve Institute of Social Service. Mr.Nilesh Nemade, Programme officer welcomed the resource person and all the participants.  Dr. Jayshree Bangali, Student Development Officer introduced the programme.

Ms. Asmita Pawar highlighted the point during her talk that though it may seem difficult for women to undertake social work due to the tough schedules, environment and safety concerns, there is no discrimination between males and females in the area of social work. Both genders are given equal opportunities.

She gave inputs through her personal journey into social work, her mother’s encouragement towards her pursuing a career in social work, etc.

She also discussed the avenues in social work like counselling, rehabilitation, etc. She also encouraged the students to think of social work as a career option. She put an emphasis on the fact that in spite of working for several hours in the corporate sector this profession is the only one which gives maximum satisfaction to the mind and soul. 

Around 60 NSS volunteers attended the session. Mr. Nilesh Nemade proposed vote of thanks.

 

 

National Unity Day’ Celebration at Kaveri

 

The NSS Unit of the college celebrated National Unity Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 31st October 2020. The event was organized on Google Meet platform because of Covid-19 pandemic.  Mr Nilesh Nemade, NSS Programme Officer introduced the programme. The oath on National unity and integration was administered by Mrs. Manasi Joshi, Assistant NSS Programme Officer and the students wholeheartedly took the oath and pledged to remain united.  A virtual session on the life of the ‘Iron Man of India’ was conducted. A video on the life of Sardar Patel was shown followed by an interactive discussion session. The life and times of Sardar Patel and his efforts in the unification of the nation was deliberated upon. 

Around 60 NSS volunteers attended the session. Ms. Sayee Kulkarni, member of NSS proposed vote of thanks.

A Session on ‘My Family My Responsibility’ at Kaveri


 NSS unit of Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized a virtual session through Google meet platform on the topic ‘My Family My Responsibility’ on 17th October 2020. Ms. Sarita Chitodkar was the resource speaker for the session. She is actively involved in social service activities and counselling since last 14 years.

Mrs. Manasi Joshi, Assistant Programme Officer, NSS unit, introduced the event and welcomed Ms. Sarita Chitodkar, Resource Speaker, Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Principal, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice-Principal, Mr. Nilesh Nemade, Programme Officer, committee members and students.

Ms. Sarita Chitodkar, Resource Speaker for the day emphasized that all NSS volunteers should take the responsibility of their family members in this pandemic situation of COVID 19. Youth can bring favourable changes in the society. She also focused on the issue of mental and physical health during these difficult times. Students should take care of elderly as well as young family members.

Piyush Lachake’s achievement in ‘Redhat Ansible Fest -2020’

 Piyush Lachake from SYBBA(CA) of Kaveri College of Arts Science and Commerce had participated in ‘Command Line Heroes Trivia Quiz’ organized by ‘Redhat Ansible’ under ‘Redhat Ansible Fest -2020’ conducted on 13th & 14th October, 2020.

He scored 97500 points and stood ‘first’. He received an electronic voucher worth $20 as prize.

Principal of the College, Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Vice-Principal, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar and all the professors of the college congratulated him.

‘Vachan Prerna Din’ Celebration at Kaveri

 ‘Vachan Prerna Din' or Reading Day is celebrated on 15th October, every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of our revered former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam who loved reading and writing. This day is observed so that students would understand the importance of reading and will be encouraged and motivated to develop it as a hobby.

On account of this occasion, the college library arranged a guest lecture by Ms. Vrushali Dandawate (Librarian, AISSMS College of Engineering, Pune, and DOAJ Ambassador India) on Thursday, 15th October 2020, at 12.30 p.m. on Google Meet virtual platform and YouTube Live.

 Mrs.Vrushali Dandawate guided the students on How to make optimum utilization of Open Sources.’ She explained in detail about scholarly communication crises and also the gold route and green route of publishing one’s own research paper. She also discussed in detail about DOAJ (Directory of Open access journals) and its workflow. She also shed light on understanding Predatory Journals. She also gave information about various open access websites like Google Books, Open Textbook Library, CORE, Econbiz, IntechOpen, etc. and learning platforms like Swayam, NPTEL, Coursera etc.

She also shared important links of free reading materials with the students.  She gave information about open source software available for librarians for developing library website and institutional repositories. 

On this occasion, Dr. A.M. Agrawal Principal, Kaveri College addressed the students. He remembered the great work of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. He threw light on the continuation of education in this pandemic through online platform. He urged students to spend time in library. He said “wachal tar wachal”. Read, read and only read. He also recalled the children’s publications like Chandoba, Dharmayug etc.

Vice Principal Dr.Muckta Karmarkar, teaching and non-teaching staff members and students in large number attended the online session.

Ms.  Radhika Potdar student of T.Y.BA started the program by remembering Dr. Kalam’s  exemplary qualities.

A Webinar on ‘Opening the Writer’s Toolbox’- Key Elements of the Writing Process at Kaveri College

 Kannada Sangha, Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce- Faculty of Arts, Department of English organized a webinar on ‘Opening the Writer’s Toolbox’- Key Elements of the Writing Process on Monday, 19th October, 2020. Owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, the webinar was scheduled on the online platform of Google Meet.

The session began with the address of Dr. Ashok Agarwal, Principal, Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce. The Principal’s address was followed by the address of Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice-Principal and Head of the Department of English.  Mr. Abhinav Bhat, Faculty Member, Department of English introduced the speaker, Mr. Archit Joshi and welcomed him virtually.

Mr. Archit Joshi was the guest speaker for the day. Mr. Joshi, an alumnus of Kaveri College holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce. He is currently working as a technical content writer at LearnEd Studio. Besides, he is a published author, poet and a short story writer.  Mr. Joshi guided the participants on the techniques involved in the process of writing and publishing.  While explaining the techniques, Mr. Joshi asked the participants to “fall in love with ‘language’”, and explained the importance of language. He encouraged them to find the rhythm and music in language.  He also mentioned the importance behind understanding a story and dissecting it into parts. Mr. Joshi emphasized on writing evocatively and being authentic while writing.  He asked the participants to interact with people around in day-to-day life, and surround themselves with their heroes in order to develop the characters in the story. Also, he asked the participants to be themselves and tell stories that only they can tell. Mr. Archit Joshi also gave numerous tips to the participants on how to shape their stories, and on carrying out research during the process of story writing.  He also spoke about the editing skills required in order to write a successful story.  In the end, he shared his ideas on how one must go for publishing of his/her stories and gave the golden words, “never pay to publish” to the participants.

The session also included a ‘Question and Answer’ segment, where the participants interacted with Mr. Joshi and got their queries answered.

Ms.Gayatri Joshi, a student of First Year Bachelor of Arts, proposed the vote of thanks.

Around 80 participants from various fields including students, budding writers and teachers were benefited from this session.

Orientation Programme at Kaveri College

 

The General Orientation Programme of the academic year 2020-21 for First Year students and their parents was organized on Saturday, 3 October 2020 on Zoom virtual platform and live streaming of the same was done on Kaveri College You Tube channel. The programme started with the Deep Prajwalan and Vidyapeeth Geet. Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice Principal introduced the programme to the students and parents. Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Head, Cultural Committee, gave a power point presentation showcasing College and its activities under different Committees, Cells and Clubs of the College. Four alumni, Ms. Harshada Khaladkar (BA), Mr. Piyush Joglekar (B.Sc. (CS)), Ms. Aditi Kumthekar (B. Com.) and Ms. Lavanya Srinivas (BBA-CA) shared their experiences while they were at the college and advised the new students to make full use of their years at Kaveri College.


Mr. Omkar Joshi, final year M.Sc. (CS) student of our college was felicitated for getting placed in a company named ‘Somic Ishikawa’ in Japan with a high profile job.

In his address, Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Principal, Kaveri College emphasized on the fact that all Kaverians believe in excellence as not a destination, but a journey. And the college believes in instilling proactive citizenship among the students. He assured the parents that their wards are in the right hands. He also said that it is the joint responsibility of the students, parents and teachers for the holistic development of students, and appealed the parents to devote time in the interest of the students.

Mrs. Malati Kalmadi, Secretary, Kannada Sangha in her address, gave a message to the youth by quoting Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, “have courage to think differently, have courage to travel the unexplored path, have courage to discover the impossible and conquer the problems and succeed”. She advised the students to set a goal in life and devote entirely for the accomplishment of the same. Not only academically, there must be all round development of the students, she reiterated. 


Mr. Kushal Hegde, President Kannada Sangha, Pune delivered the presidential address. In his speech, he introduced the parent body of the college- Kannada Sangha, Pune to the audience. He made all aware about the glorious 5 decades of fulfilling journey of Sangha in the field of education.

Dr. Jayashri Bangali, IQAC Coordinator proposed vote of thanks. Ms. Shweta Bhagat Natu, member, Cultural Committee compered the programme which concluded with Vande Mataram. The programme was witnessed by 1100 viewers comprising students and parents on the college YouTube channel.

Celebration of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti at Kaveri

 


Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized a Guest Lecture on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October 2020 through online platform of Google meet due to the pandemic situation.

Mr. Nilesh Nemade, Programme Officer, NSS unit introduced the event and welcomed the Guest Speaker Dr. Sudhir Gade, Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Principal, Dr. MucktaKarmarkar, Vice Principal, other committee members and students.


Dr. Sudhir Gade, was the guest speaker for the day. Dr. Sudhir Gade is involved in teaching of Electronics in Abasaheb Garware College, Pune since 2001. He is the joint secretary of Maharashtra Education Society, Pune. On this occasion he spoke about various aspects of the life of Mahatma Gandhi. He also talked about the similarity in and the adoption of Gandhiji’s views on education in the newly proposed education structure. He also gave various examples from Gandhiji’s life, where the latter brought all his thoughts to practice in his own life. He portrayed the transformation of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi into Mahatma Gandhi through various events.  He unfolded the life and values taught by Gandhiji and also emphasized that these values can be practised even today, which will enable us to make this world a better place to co-exist.

Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce also organized an Essay Writing competition on ‘Life of Mahatma Gandhi’, 12 students participated in this competition. Poster Competition was also arranged on ‘Journey of Mahatma Gandhi’ to commemorate the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, to which 5 students participated.

51st NSS Foundation Day Celebration at Kaveri

 

Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized a Guest Lecture on the occasion of 51st NSS Foundation Day on 24th September 2020 through online platform of Google Meet due to the pandemic situation.


Mr. Nilesh Nemade, Programme Officer, NSS unit introduced the event and welcomed the Guest Speaker Prof. Shashikant Soman, Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Principal, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice Principal, other committee members and students.


Prof. Shashikant Soman, was the guest speaker for the day. He advised students to follow three rules for healthy life style during this Covid 19 pandemic situation. He emphasized on following regular exercise, healthy diet and adequate rest for healthy mind and body. He also advised students to be more responsible as citizens by helping in the household and having healthy communication with the elderly in the house.

Dr. Shamarao Kalmadi State Level Elocution Competition at Kaveri

Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce organised the 10th Dr. Shamarao Kalmadi State Level Elocution Competition on 21st September, 2020 on a virtual platform due to the Corona virus pandemic. The Competition was inaugurated at the hands of Chief Guest Mr. Kushal Hegde, Hon President, Kannada Sangha, Pune along with the gracious presence of Mrs. Indira Salian, Vice President-Kannnada Sangha, Dr. Narayan Hegde, Vice President Kannada Sangha, Mrs. Malati Kalamadi, Secretary, Kannada Sangha, Joint Treasurer Mrs. Radhika Sharma, Hon. Trustee Mr., Sudhakar Rao, Mrs. Shashikala Gurpur, Principal Dr. Ashok Agrawal and Vice- Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar. The competition had the staff members and students as audience, in large numbers.


Mr.Hegde boosted the enthusiasm of the participants saying, “One should embrace opportunities with open arms, be fearless always”. Principal Dr.Ashok Agrawal, in his address, briefed everyone present about the progressive journey of the College. Mrs. Manasi Joshi, Head, Elocution and Debate committee gave an introduction of the competition and made everyone present as audience, aware about the rules of the competition.

Participants got a chance to choose from a plethora of interesting topics like Maharashtra Bhuhsan Kusumagraj, Skill Building and Youth, Post Covid World- Challenges and Opportunities, Mental and Emotional well-being- The Need of time, Virtual Teaching -Learning: Opportunities and Obstacles etc. Students from all over Maharashtra like Nashik, Mumbai, Aurangabad, Ahemadnagr, Ichalkaranji,Vadgaon Maval, Pimpri participated in the competition. They were from different colleges and universities like MIT-WPU, Symbiosis, Abasaheb Garware, MUCC, P.Jog, CSIT, Siddhivinayak College, New Law College,VIT, St.Mira’s College, etc. All these participants used the Zoom online platform to share their views. Dr. Supriya Sahastrabuddhe, Mrs. Vrushali Deodhar and Dr. Balchandra Kaprekar judged the competition.


Dr.Mandar Bedekar, M.D.Ayurveda, M.A.Sanskrit and Diploma in Journalism was the Chief guest for the prize distribution ceremony. Being a multilinguist himself, he emphasised upon the significance of knowing multiple languages for becoming an effective speaker. Participants who secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions were Ummesalema Karu from St.Mira’s College, Ashwini Tavhare from MES Abasaheb Garware College, Pune and Rushil Tambekar from P.Jog College, Pune. They bagged a cash prize worth Rs. 5000 and the prestigious rolling trophy, Rs.3000 along with a virtual trophy and Rs.2000 along with a virtual trophy, respectively. Dr. Bedekar congratulated all the participants and appreciated their enthusiasm. The programme was a huge success and was concluded by a formal vote of thanks moved by Mrs. Soniya Kumbhojkar.

  


National Workshop on Skill Building: Creating & Empowering Leaders of Tomorrow

 Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce in association with Skillslate and MKCL had  arranged a 4 days National Workshop on “Skill Building: Creating & Empowering Leaders of Tomorrow” on 28th & 29th August and 3rd & 4th September 2020.

On 28 August, 2020, the session was inaugurated at the hands of Chief Guest Mr. Vivek Sawant, Chief Mentor, MKCL, Dr. Shirish Limaye, Guest of Honor, Mrs. Malati Kalmadi, Secretary Kannada Sangha, Pune, Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Principal, and Dr. Mukta Karmarkar, Vice-Principal.

Principal Dr. Ashok Agrawal welcomed all the participants from across India. Sir congratulated Mr. Omkar Joshi MSc(CS) student for getting placed in Somic Ishikawa, Shizuoka Hamamatsu, Japan with a package of approximately 27 Lakhs per annum.

Mrs. Malati Kalmadi, in her presidential address, appealed to all the participants to look at this pandemic situation as an opportunity to upgrade various skills which will help them to work with confidence. She also emphasized that we should work in collaboration.

In his address as Chief Guest, Mr. Vivek Sawant, Chief Mentor, MKCL congratulated Kaveri College for conducting 4-day National Workshop on Skill Building.

Mr. Sawant guided participants on numerous Career Opportunities available in the market. He encouraged everyone to ‘Go Digital, Go Green’. Mr. Sawant asked the participants to grab the opportunities available locally and globally by going digital. He discussed various online and offline ways to get the requirements, finish the given work and submit the final product.

Dr. Shirish Limaye, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Accountancy at Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce was the Guest of Honor of the session. He emphasized on to cultivate moral & ethical values that will help everyone to sustain through out their life.

The resource person Ms. Devaki Purohit, Language Trainer, conducted a session on “Resume: A Pathway to Career Building”. She guided the participants on how to write job application letter and resumé. She explained the do’s and don’ts while writing an application and resumé so as to make the effective start of the career.

Sessions on “Effective Time Management” and “Digital Profile Building” were conducted on Day – 2 (29 August 2020) of 4-days National Workshop on “Skill Building: Creating & Empowering Leaders of Tomorrow”.

Session on “Effective Time Management” was conducted by Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice-principal, Kaveri College. Dr. Muckta Karmarkar explained the importance of time management by giving the examples of legends who are very punctual. She discussed 4 important techniques to manage time effectively. She emphasized to achieve the small goals in the stipulated time.

Session on “Digital profile building” was conducted by Ms. Meeta Kanhere and Ms. Pallavi Lawlekar, Founder Meraki Leadership Solution, Pune. Ms. Pallavi encouraged participants to have their own digital brand in the form of digital profile on LinkedIn or any other job portals. She also made participants aware about Facebook posts which are also checked by the recruiters for “background check”.

Ms. Meeta Kanhere guided the participants on email etiquette. She explained the various parts of email with examples.


On Day – 3 (3 September 2020) of 4-days National Workshop on “Skill Building: Creating & Empowering Leaders of Tomorrow”, sessions on “Mastering Interview Skills” and “Campus to Corporate” were conducted.

Session on “Mastering Interview Skills” was conducted by Mr. Munir Damani, Founder, Nester Career Consulting (OPC) Pvt Ltd. Munir Sir during his session emphasized that the participants should go prepared for the interview. He stated that participants should rehearse and practice the mock interviews many times before appearing for the real interview. 

Session on “Campus to corporate” was conducted by Mr. Sanjeev Suryakumar, Behavioral & Leadership Facilitator, EQ Fellow. Mr. Sanjeev conducted the entire session in the form of a story telling to state the change from campus to corporate behavior. He emphasized that students should be patient to get themselves adjusted in the corporate event as it is a change from campus to corporate. He emphasized that the first 5 years in the corporate world are  for learning and growing.

Sessions on “Corporate Manners and Etiquette” and “Decoding Group Discussion” were conducted on Day – 4 (4 September 2020) of 4-days National Workshop on “Skill Building: Creating & Empowering Leaders of Tomorrow”.

Session on “Corporate Manners and Etiquette” was conducted by Dr. Prassanakumar Deshmukh, Principal, Anantrao Thopte College & Research Center, Bhor, Pune. Dr. Deshmukh shared corporate manners to be followed during meetings, on telephone etc . He gave various tips to observe the good manners and etiquette in the corporate world.

Session on “Decoding Group Discussion” was conducted by Mr. Mahesh Gaikwad, Dy. General Manager Corporate – HSE Shapoorji Pallonji & Company, PVT LTD. Mr. Gaikwad explained the coding standards of Group Discussion. He shared points that one can start group discussion with a thought, quote or question. Mr. Gaikwad emphasized that the participants in the group discussion should never loose the track of the topic of discussion.

Mrs. Pallavi Joshi proposed Vote of Thanks to all the stakeholders involved in making the event successful.

Mr. Amey Agrawal, Founder, Skillslate foundation, successfully made the entire four day event as  YouTube live, reaching the maximum number of participants.

Placement & Vocational Guidance Cell of the college conducted a webinar on ‘Placement Insights’

  Placement & Vocational Guidance Cell of the college conducted a webinar on  ‘Placement Insights’ which covered the sub topics like, ‘An IT industry is much more than just coding!’,  ‘How ‘T’ shaped skills are important’, ‘Pathway to Public Cloud’ during 1 to 14 August 2020.

A session on '𝐀𝐧 𝐈𝐓 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠!' was conducted by Mr. Ajinkya Ganoo, an experienced developer skilled in Node.js, NestJS, Angular, JavaScript/Typescript.  Mr. Ganoo guided students on various opportunities available in IT industry other than developer and the skills required for those positions. The various opportunities included in the IT Industry are Business Analyst, Quality Analyst, Data Analyst, SEO Analyst, Digital Marketing, Technical Recruiter, Content Writers, Game Testers, System Administrators / Network Administrator, Social Media Managers, etc.

 


A session on '𝐇𝐨𝐰𝐓𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭!'  was conducted by Mr. Ravi Gorawade. Mr. Ravi has 17 years of experience in IT industry. He possesses deep knowledge and expertise in solution architecture & designing large and complex financial systems.  Mr. Gorawade talked about what is the meaning of 'T' shaped skills and how IT industry is more inclined towards hiring the people with multi-skills. He also guided the students to acquire and implement industry required skills while working on projects during their college days.

 Mr. Ravi Gorawade also conducted a session on Pathway to Public Cloud.

As a cloud certified professional, he guided the students to compare cloud with the Uber services. This helped students to understand the working of cloud services.

Mr. Ravi discussed various cloud domains available and how students can start using cloud available for free for some duration. He also discussed various job opportunities that are associated with cloud platform. All the sessions were conducted using Google Meet. More than 100 students were benefited from these sessions.

“Omkar Joshi of Kaveri College received a Package of 27 lakh from Japanese company”



 

Omkar Joshi, a final year computer science student, of Kaveri College was awarded 38.50 lakh Japanese Yen, equivalent to a package of Rs. 2.25 lakhs per month, recently. He is one of the students of M.Sc. Computer Science, and the one who has received such a large package till date. Hon. President of Kannada Sangh Pune, Mr. Kushal Hegde, Hon. Secretary, Mrs. Malati Kalmadi, Principal of the College Dr. Ashok Agarwal and Vice-Principal Dr.Muckta Karmarkar congratulated him for his great success.

     Only six people from all over India were called for interview. Omkar was selected on the basis of his personality traits and language skills. He is the second Indian to get a chance to work with the Japanese firm named Somik Ishiwaka Company. He will have the opportunity to work on machine learning and artificial intelligence. Omkar has successfully passed Japanese language level N-5,4,3 so far. All expenses for his interview were borne by Japan. Omkar thanked Kaveri College and all the professors for their cooperation.

          M.Sc final year students of Computer Science, Archit Joshi, Bhagya Pillai, Swapnil Mahale, Rituja Dhumke have been selected for 'Learn Aid Software Solutions' and Nilesh Sapra has been selected for 'Gunakar Private Limited'.

Kaveri College organizes An Online Investor awareness Programme in ‘Role of Regulator in Developing Capital Market’

 As a part of commitment to the society, Kaveri College organized an investor awareness webinar in association with SEBI and BSE-IPF on 18th July 2020 through online platform for the commerce students and teachers of the college.

Resource persons for this webinar were Mr. N. Hariharan,Chief General Manager SEBI,Mumbai and Mr. C. Vasudevan BSE-IPF,Mumbai. Mr. Bharat Dave guided for arranging the program as a Co- Ordinator.

Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Principal of the college welcomed all and inaugurated the webinar.

The webinar was in line with the objectives of Securities and Exchange Board of India and the Investors Protection Fund of BSE to educate the young generation to understand the capital market and enter in the capital creation process.

Mr. N. Hariharan guided the students about the four regulators in financial sector, securities market, banking, insurance (IRDA) and pension (PFRDA)in detail. He further referred Indian economy as fastest growing economy in the world. He further explained Pre-SEBI scenario which was based on merit, there was lack of transparency and Frequent market failures.

Mr. Hariharan further explained the functions of SEBI in detail as to protect the interest of investors, to promote the development of securities market and regulate its business, to impart financial literacy, transparency and to redress investor grievances. He also explained the functions of securities market such as to channelize savings into investment, to provide alternative to bank finance, to diversify/ transfer risk and to accelerate economic growth. He further took review of constituents in securities market, growth of Indian securities market, process and participants of reforms etc. He also explained the students about the functioning of primary and secondary market, commodity derivatives market, options of fund raising and grievance redressal scores etc. which was very useful for the students. He further touched securities market frauds and possible actions.

Mr. Bharat Dave, Co-ordinator of this webinar advised students to be self-reliant i.e. aatmanirbhar, cautious as an investor during this lockdown situation. He asked students to save more and invest in mutual funds.

The programme received a huge response as it was attended by the commerce students, parents and teachers in large number. Around 300 students attended the programme.

Kaveri College Organises Learn to Lead – Virtual Leadership Training Programme for Students

 

Learn to Lead –a two-day Virtual Leadership Training Programme for the students of Kaveri College was carried out by the Kaveri Skill Development Cell (KSDC) on 24 and 25 July 2020. The programme was organised in association with M. R. Pai Foundation, Mumbai and Forum of Free Enterprise, Mumbai. It was conducted in the memory of Late M. R. Pai, a visionary who devoted his life and time for the betterment of the society and for developing good citizenship. The objective of this programme was to empower students with the right skill sets necessary for enabling them to become good human beings and good citizens.

The programme was inaugurated in the presence of Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Principal, Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Ms. Swati Kapadia, CEO M. R. Pai Foundation, Mumbai & Forum of Free Enterprise, Mumbai, Mr. Krishna Devadiga, Member, Forum of Free Enterprise, Mr. Sachin Kamath, Resource Person, Dr.Muckta Karmarkar, Vice Principal, Kaveri College and members of KSDC. Ms. Suchismita Mohanty, Head, KSDC introduced the programme and stated its objectives to the participants.

Principal Dr. Agrawal welcomed all the participants and expressed his warm regards for the Foundation and the Forum for proposing our College to conduct this programme. He also appealed to the Forum that such types of programmes should also be conducted for parents and students community at large. And for which Kaveri College will be happy to be associated with.

Ms. Kapadia thanked Principal Dr. Agrawal for pro-actively accepting the proposal and providing the platform for the betterment of the society. She emphasised the vital role of youth to transform the nation and how such programmes help igniting the young minds.

Mr. Sachin Kamath and Ms. Clarissa Jathanna were the two expert facilitators provided by the M. R. Pai Foundation for guiding our students on various essential skills like ‘Setting & Achieving Goals’, ‘The Power of Habits’, ‘Sharpening Vital Skills’ and ‘Understanding Self and Others’.

On 24 July 2020, Mr. Kamath while conducting session on ‘Goal Setting’ emphasized on clearly writing down the specific goal with a particular time line of achieving the goal. He highlighted that to achieve the clearly defined and set goals, there are three essentials, namely, knowledge, skill and attitude. He motivated students, with numerous examples, to proceed towards achieving goal by finding strengths, opportunities, identifying obstacles and by finding solutions on one’s own. ‘तूचआहेतुझ्याजीवनाचाशिल्पकार’ meaning ‘you are the creator of your destiny’ is a very apt statement applicable to everyone, he emphasised.

During his session on ‘Power of Habits’, Mr. Kamath took students over a journey of introspection, urging students to make a list of daily activities and a list of habits. In order to cultivate good habits, he introduced the Time Management Matrix to the students. He explained stating that habits work in 3-step loop: cue, routine and reward. He said habits depend on one’s willpower. He explained the attributes of good habits. In order to enable students to understand how habit influences, Mr. Kamath divided students into different groups having different boardrooms.

On 25 July 2020, Ms. Clarissa Jathanna made the sessions on Sharpening Vital Skills and Understanding Self & Others very interactive by throwing open the virtual platform to students to come forward and participate in the training. She said effective communication skill is the core of all vital skills. She highlighted on the 4-P’s Technique of Speaking – Pitch, Pace, Pause and Power. she explained that speaking should be concrete, concise and with clarity. She extended tips to students on how to face interview, becoming punctual, time management and setting goals.

The second session was introduced to students in a very effective and unique way of letting the students understand the ‘Johari Window’ concept. The pictorial representation of Open, Blind, Hidden and Unknown quadrants of one’s life was very intriguing. She explained each quadrant in very simple way and also responded to the queries of students with ease. She urged students to take a stock of ‘self-inventory’ by asking oneself a set of questions and find the answers. Further, she discussed with the participants about the basic causes of anger and how can they control their anger. She advocated to have a mood tracker in order to enhance the quality of understanding self and others.

During the valedictory session, Principal Dr. Agrawal admired the facilitators for their adept and interactive facilitation of the two-day programme even on virtual platform. He further expressed his satisfaction over enthusiastic participation by the students. The programme witnessed a feedback session from few students about their learnings from it.

More than 70 students actively participated in the Leadership Development Programme. They enthusiastically participated during all these sessions. All the sessions were very inspiring and motivating for the participants.

Kaveri College Students Secured Sports Scholarship from Savitribai Phule Pune University amounting to Rs. 36000

 The sportspersons from Kaveri College have been honoured with sports scholarships by the Board of Sports and Physical Education, Savitribai Phule Pune University for the year 2019-2020.

The scholarships will be awarded to the players in the form of cash prize.  Rucha Dhopeshwar (SY Bcom) for Judo (Women)  will receive a scholarship of Rs 22000 / -,Ashish Francis, (FY Bcom) will receive Rs.5000 / - for contribution in Squash Racket (Men), Gayatri Dhamale (FYBSc.)  for Kho-Kho (Women) Rs.7000 / -, Pratik Ubhe (TYBBA)  for Basketball(Men) Rs. 2000 / -

Prof. Rohit Tambe, Director of Physical Education provided proper training and guidance to the students and encouraged them to participate in various State and National Level competitions. All the sportspersons thanked the Management, the Principal and the Sports director for the unflinching support and assistance they received over the years.

Report of Two Days University Level Workshop On ‘Syllabus Implementation of CBCS 2019 Pattern for S.Y.B.Sc. (Computer Science) Electronics Subject’


Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce in association with Board of Studies (Electronics) SPPU organized an online ‘Two Days University Level Workshop’ on ‘Syllabus Implementation of CBCS 2019 Pattern for S.Y.B.Sc. (Computer Science) Electronics Subject’ on 18 and 19 June 2020. The syllabus implementation of paper I, II and III of Electronics subject of S.Y.B.Sc. (Computer Science) was discussed in the workshop.
Hon. Dr. M.G. Chaskar, Dean Science and Technology, SPPU was the Chief Guest for the inauguration function of the workshop. Prof. Dr. D.C.Gharpure, Chairman BOS( Electronics) SPPU, was the Guest of Honor and Prof. Dr. A.D.Shaligram, Ex-Dean, Science and Technology,SPPU & Ex-HoD, Electronics Sci. Dept., SPPU was the special invitee for the inauguration function. Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Principal, Kaveri College welcomed the dignitaries and briefed about the college. Dr. M.G. Chaskar inaugurated the workshop and congratulated the organizers for taking initiative and organizing the online workshop. Dr. Gharpure and Dr. Shaligram addressed the participants and emphasized on the online teaching and E-content development. Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice-Principal attended the inauguration function and graced the occasion.
Senior and experienced faculty members of Electronics subject from various colleges were the Resource Persons for the workshop namely Mrs. Archana Bendale, Dr. Medha Misar, Prof. Prachi Sane, Dr. Jayashri Bangali, Mrs. Swati Diwatankar, Mrs. Jyoti Shotre, Dr. M. Shaikh, Dr. Sapna Rane, Dr. Varsha Bapat, Dr. Deepa Ramane, Mr. Deepak Kumbhar and Mr. Sunil Mahajan. 8 units of Paper I and II were divided into eight resource persons. They explained scope of the topic and number of lectures required for each unit in detail. Dr. Ramane and Dr. Bapat explained the expectations of each practical, how to conduct practical and number of lectures required for the practical.
The PPTs of all the Resource Persons in pdf format was shared with all the participants. Mr. Sunil Mahajan and Mr. Ghate explained the virtual lab concept and simulation using Circuit Mode software.  Resource Persons solved all the queries of the participants which they had put in the chat box. The E Certificates were issued to all the participants and the resource persons. The online feedback form was mailed to all the participants. All the participants were happy and satisfied with the overall conduct of the workshop as all the sessions were very informative and interactive.

These sessions were recorded on Google Drive. The workshop was organized on online platforms Zoom and Google Meet. Total 177 Electronics faculty members from various colleges registered for the workshop.
Dr. Jayashri Bangali, Coordinator, B.Sc.(Com.Sci.) shouldered the responsibility as the Coordinator of the workshop. Mrs. Chitra Alavani worked as Organizing Secretary of the workshop. Dr. Anand Buddhikot assisted the Coordinator in organization of the workshop.

Report on Nation Building Activities by the students of Kaveri College during the lockdown


While the Corona crisis was looming over the world, the students of Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce took advantage of the available time they got during the lockdown period. Students undertook several activities and boosted the confidence of different sections of society. They created a vision of social consciousness and humanity through many socially useful activities. During this period, the students have come forward on their own to help the weaker sections of the society and the administration. 
Under this initiative, students created self-explanatory PPT/videos based on various topics such as Arrays, Pointers, searching algorithm, linked list, stack, and queue. Students also participated in mask making activity. Students who were good in art have prepared videos of that art such as origami, mehendi and drawings also spread it through social media.
Students have helped police, doctors, nurses who were working as direct and indirect covid warriors and saluted them. Students have taken the interview of such covid warriors and prepared its video in which they have shared their experiences about working during the lockdown. 
 College Students have created various videos for school children based on interesting animation, guidance on foreign languages like German, French and Chinese etc, mental health during the lockdown, how to take care of the elderly, how to protect oneself and one's family from corona, best out of waste, cyber security, Yoga Practice etc.
Students have also prepared the documents on the topics like Quantitaive Aptitude, verbal aptitude, reasoning/ analytical aptitude, Java etc. for placement preparation. Along with this student have created quiz and blogs are also written by them on the topics like Degree Vs. Skill sets and various career opportunities.
The students have created Audio Books and  written short stories and poems based on the pandemic They have also prepared case studies on the topics like SBI,TCS, Swiggy, Automobile sector, Cure Fit etc. and have researched commerce related topics including problems of small entrepreneurs/vendors during lockdown, stock market scenario, stock trading perspective, Role of RBI, future of mutual funds, business opportunities after lockdown, the study of various smartphone applications for safety awareness, mental and physical health awareness-role and responsibility, the role of television media, impact of Covid 19 on economic and psychological aspects and so on.
A survey on the topic, ‘A Study of Impact of Covid 19 on Stakeholders of Education Sector’ was also conducted to understand the impact of the pandemic on different stakeholders of the education sector and also to understand the initiatives taken by these stakeholders to minimise the negative impact. Another survey on the topic, ‘A Study of pros and cons of work from home style of working was also conducted to identify and understand the implementation of work from home system and to study advantages and disadvantages of this system. These surveys received a huge response. 
Principal Dr. Ashok Agarwal, Vice- Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar and other professors encouraged and guided the students for this initiative. Parents, Covid Warriors and society, in general, have appreciated and praised the activities done by the students.
Mr. Kushal Hegde, President Kannada Sangha and Secretary Mrs. Malati Kalmadi have also appreciated and congratulated these commendable initiatives by the students.

International Yoga Day 2020: A Virtual Yoga Day Celebration in Kaveri College


The sixth International Yoga Day was celebrated virtually in Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune on 21st June 2020 with great zeal and enthusiasm. This year’s theme was ‘Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family’. All the teachers and students joined the celebration virtually in wake of Covid –19.
To spread awareness about Yoga and its benefits, the College had organized an event in association with Datta Kriya Yoga International Pune Center. Dr. A. J. Thanawala, was the resource person for this session. 

Principal, Dr. Ashok Agrawal inaugurated the session. In his inaugural address, he expressed the importance of Yoga for a healthy life. He said that Yoga keeps us physically, mentally and spiritually balanced. He mentioned that Yoga is the best medicine for sculpting the body both internally and externally.

Dr. Thanawala explained the concept of Pran-Shakti, an essential component to keep our body and mind in healthy disposition. He also said that transformation of the mind is the greatest miracle which can be achieved through the ancient science of Yoga. He said that Yoga helps in curing many chronic and incurable diseases through various asanas and ‘Naadishuddhi Kriya’. Dr.Thanawala conducted a session on ‘Namaskar Mudra, Meditation, Pranayam and breathing techniques, Suryanamaskar and musical meditation for the participants. He also shared the information about the ‘NadiShuddhi Exercise App’ for practicing yoga in daily life.
Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice Principal, Dr. Anand Buddhikot, Student Development officer and Mr. Nilesh Nemade, NSS PO virtually participated in the Yoga session along with the teaching, non-teaching staff members and a large number of students.
