“Two Days State Level Conference on Recent Trends in English Studies and Research” at Kaveri College



Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri College of Arts,Science and Commerce is organizing  “Two Days State Level Conference on Recent Trends in English Studies and Research” at Kaveri College,on 29th  and 30th August, 2016 under Quality Improvement Programme, of Savitribai Phule Pune University.

Mr. Kushal Hegde,President,Kannada Sangha,Pune ,Mrs. Malati Kalmadi, Secretary Kannada Sangha, Pune will inaugurate the conference. In the two days conference, eminent Resource Persons like     Dr. Muktaja Mathkari-Principal, M.E.S. Abasaheb Garware College,Pune,Dr. Sonal Joshi Kulkarni- Assistant Professor,Deccan College,Pune,.Dr. Shirish Chindhade, Former Principal, M.U.College, Pimpri are going to conduct sessions followed by Plenary Session and Paper Presentation.

Inauguration of NSS Activities at Kaveri College



The NSS activities of Kaveri College ao Arts, Science and Commerce for the year 2016-17 was inaugurated on 13 th August 2016. The function began with the lighting of the traditional lamp at the hands of Mr. B.B. Rao, Treasurer, Kannada Sangh, Pune, the Chief Guest Prof. Dr. S.R. Pacharne, SPPU’s NSS District Co-ordinator and Principal Dr. S.B. Kharosekar. Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, the Vice Principal was also present on the occasion. It was followed by the singing of NSS Anthem by the volunteers.
Dr. Kharosekar in his inaugural speech talked about Kaveri College’s phenomenal growth in academic as well as extra-curricular activities in recent years. He also talked about the different activities conducted by the college for student’s overall development. Dr. Kharosekar shared that the college has received SPPU’s prestigious ‘District Level Best NSS Unit Award' and Prof. Anand Buddhikot, the college NSS Unit’s Program Officer received ‘District Level Best NSS Programme Officer Award,’ for the year 2015-2016. Dr. Kharosekar praised Mr. Anand Buddhikot for his valuable contribution towards the immense growth of the College NSS Unit and congratulated him for winning the coveted award. He appreciated the NSS unit for their relentless, untiring efforts for the betterment of the society and said that the unit is working on the lines of the College motto, ‘Work is Worship.’ He said, NSS teaches serving the nation selflessly and also that NSS works as an instrument to keep the nation united. He opined that NSS promotes work by public participation and thereby unity in diversity.
The Chief Guest Prof. Dr. S.R. Pacharane in his speech talked about the importance of NSS in a Nation’s growth. He said, along with Unity, participatory democracy; NSS also inculcate management skills which include management of time, stage, group, and work. It also helps build leadership qualities and encourages team building. He encouraged students to bring quality and constructive work to the society through the medium of NSS.
On this occasion, the college had organised a special Cleanliness Drive in which NSS volunteers cleaned the college premises and the surroundings of Matoshri Old Age Home.
Program Officer Prof. Anand Buddhikot compeered the program and Prof. Akhila Kalmadi proposed Vote of Thanks. The program ended with the rendition of National song Vande Mataram.
The program was attended by large number of NSS volunteers and Students.



“Soft Skills Development Programme at Kaveri College”



Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science & Commerce conducted a 6 days Soft Skills Development Workshop for academic year 2015-16  from 8th  August to 13th August, 2016  for all TY students of BCA, BBA, B.Sc.(CS), and B.Com. The workshop was inaugurated at the hands of Dr. S.B.Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College. In his address Dr. S. B. Kharosekar guided the students on role & importance of soft skills. He explained that to be successful you need to have both hard skills and soft skills.
Dr. S. B. Kharosekar took sessions on ‘Personality Development’. He said Personality Development is all about enhancing and grooming one’s outer and inner self to bring about a positive change to one’s life. This process includes boosting one’s confidence, improving communication , widening ones scope of knowledge, learning etiquettes and manners and imbibing oneself with positivity.
Mr. Prashant Karandikar conducted sessions on the topics like Resume Writing, Interview Techniques and Group Discussion.  He also discussed about Aptitude test preparation for masters and interviews. Dr.Bhushan Kelkar spoke about IPR and online courses. He said there are various websites which offer free of cost courses. Ms. Mary George interacted with students and discussed about Communication skills and public speaking. Ms.Rashmi Heblikar spoke about creativity innovation, Leadership and team building. Mr. Datta Rokade conducted session on Time and stress management. Dr. Dinesh Bhutada spoke on Goal setting and problem solving.
On 13th August,2016 in the valedictory programme, Mr. B.B.Rao, Treasurer  Kannada Sangha, was the Chief Guest.  Principal Dr. S. B. Kharosekar, Co-ordinator of SSDP Committee Mrs. Deepa Sathe and other staff members were also present on the occasion. Many students gave their feedback using power point presentation and described that this workshop changed their mindset, changed their attitude towards life and they understood the overall importance of such activities. They thanked Kaveri College for conducting this workshop.

Prof. Geetanjali  More compeered the programme.  Prof.  Pooja Ambole proposed vote of thanks. The programme ended with recital of  “Vande Mataram”.

“Kaveri College NSS Unit wins District Level Awards!! ”

NSS Department of Savitribai Phule Pune University organized the prize distribution ceremony for the year 2015-16 on 5th August 2016. Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce received the “Best NSS Unit” award at District Level.  Prof. Anand Buddhikot, NSS programme officer awarded is with “The Best NSS Programme officer” at District Level.
The award including a certificate and memento was received at the hands of Dr. Vasudev Gade, Vice Chancellor, SPPU in the presence of Dr. SanjayKumar Dalvi, Programme Officer- NSS and Director, Board of Students Welfare, SPPU and Dr. Vidya Gargote, Finance and Accounts Officer, SPPU. Dr. S.B.Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College, Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice Principal, Prof. Anand Buddhikot, NSS  program officer, Prof. Sachin Devkate Asst. NSS  program officer, IQAC head Dr.Jayashri Bangali, College Cultural Head Dr. Mukta Karmarkar and NSS volunteers were present for the program.

The members of the management Kannnada Sangha, Pune, the coordinators, teaching and non teaching staff members and students congratulated Principal Dr. S.B.Kharosekar, Vice Principal Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty and NSS  program officer  Mr. Anand Buddhikot for splendid achievement.

Book on Online Start-ups released at Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce




Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce organised a book release function of on 1st August 2016 at its premises. A book called ‘Online Start up: E - Vyavsayacha Roadmap’ written by renowned technocrat and entrepreneur Dr. Deepak Shikarpur was released at the hands of Dr. Anand Deshpande, Founder and CEO, Persistent Systems Pvt. Ltd.   

It was a proud moment for Kaveri College as it published its first IQAC News Letter amidst the august gathering. After NAAC accreditation in 2015, the College had constituted the IQAC committee for conducting post-accreditation activities. The last year had been the year of   intense and hard preparation for the college NAAC peers in preparing its report on different curricular and extra-curricular activities conducted by the college.

In her inaugural speech Mrs. Malati Kalmadi talked about the immense growth and journey of Kannada Sangha Pune. Dr. Agashe presented his views on today’s publication industry and made the audience aware of the difficulties the industry is facing. He also appreciated Dr. Shikarpur’s efforts in bringing technical subjects in vogue by making them interesting reads. Dr. Shikarpur while talking on his book emphasised that wealth creation happens with innovative ideas and dreaming big. He said, young students should avail the opportunities in upcoming business start-ups encouraged by Indian government.

Dr. Anant Sardeshmukh appreciated Dr. Shikarpur’s efforts in encouraging young minds in setting up their businesses backed by information technology. Mr. Milind Joshi insisted on Marathi becoming the language of business. He also said that to become a successful entrepreneur students really need to work hard with perseverance and patience. He encouraged students to embrace change to go ahead in life. Mr. Anand Deshpande in his speech encouraged students to have their own start up business and create jobs for others. He urged them to find solutions to their problems and take initiative in executing their ideas.

Mrs. Malati Kalmadi, Secretary, Kannada Sangha Pune, Dr. Anant Sardeshmukh, Director, MCCIA, Prof. Milind Joshi, Managing Director, Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad, Dr. Anand Agashe, Publisher, Menaka Publications, and Mr. Shrinivas Nimkar, Technical writer graced the occasion. Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College, Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice Principal, Dr. Jayashri Bangali, Chairperson IQAC, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Chairperson Cultural Committee, Teachers, students and parents were also present.

Dr. S. B. Kharosekar proposed the vote of thanks and Dr. Muckta Karmarkar compered the program.
