Soft Skills Development Workshop conducted in Kaveri College

Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science & Commerce conducted a 5 days Soft Skills Development Workshop for academic year 2014-15 from 7th September to 12th September, 2015 for all TY students of BCA, BBA, B.Sc.(CS), and B.Com. The workshop was inaugurated at the hands of Dr. S.B.Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College.  In his address Dr. S. B. Kharosekar guided the students on role & importance of soft skills. He also explained difference between hard skills and soft skills

Dr. A.M. Joshi took sessions on ‘Communication Skill & Public Speaking’ and ‘Problem solving & decision Making’

Dr. S.G. Bapat conducted sessions on the topics ‘Image building – Branding Oneself’ and ‘creativity and Innovation’.  He also gave guidance on ‘Leadership skills and interpersonal skill’ and ‘team building / collaboration’ on next day.

Ms. Asmita Patwe interacted with students and discussed about  ‘Time Management & ability to work under pressure’. ‘How to achieve goal in work pressure through time management?’  she explained it to the students. In next session Ms. Prema Mangudkar gave  guidance on ‘Capacity Building’ through SWOT analysis

Ms. Rasayani Kamat conducted a session on ‘Resume Writing, Interview Techniques & Group Discussion” which is very essential for the last year students.

On 12th September in the valedictory programme, Dr. Balajith  Shetty, Trustee Kannada Sangha, was the Chief Guest.  Principal Dr. S. B. Kharosekar, Co-coordinator of SSDP Committee Mrs. Deepa Sathe and other staff members were also present on the occasion.

Dr. Kharosekar welcomed Dr. Balajith  Shetty and in his address explained the importance of development of personality from various angle. He announced that college will be starting ‘Soft Skill Development Centre’ in association with National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC). Kaveri College would be the first college in Pune to start such center, if it success in starting it.

Dr. Balajith  Shetty talked about entrepreneurship and  appealed the students to be entrepreneur and told “Search your own skill and idea, nurture it and become successful entrepreneur” He also emphasized that no work is small or big, if you are happy in what you are doing, you are successful.

Many students gave their feedback and described that this workshop changed their mindset, changed their attitude towards life and they understood the overall importance of such activities. They thanked Kaveri College for conducting this  workshop.

Prof.  Mrs. Ashwini Malani  compeered the programme.  Prof.  Pooja Ambole proposed vote of thanks. The programme ended with recital of “Vande Mataram”.

Dr. Shamarao Kalmadi Memorial State Level Elocution Competition held at Kaveri College

Dr. Shamarao Kalmadi Memorial State Level Elocution Competition was held at Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Pune on 10th September.  This competition is organized to pay tribute to Dr. Shamarao Kalmadi who was the founder President of Kannada Sangha. This was the 5th year of the competition. The sole purpose of the competition is to provide a platform for budding orators from all over Maharashtra.
The competition was inaugurated at the hands of Mr. Kushal Hegde, President, Kannada Sangha. Mrs. Indira Salian Vice-President, Kannada Sangha, Mrs. Malati Kalmadi, Secretary,  Kannada Sangha, Mr. B. B. Rao, Treasurer,  Kannada Sangha and Mrs. Radhika Sharma, Trustee,  Kannada Sangha were present for the inauguration ceremony. In his inaugural address, Chief Guest Mr. Kushal Hegde, shared his memories of Dr. Shamarao Kalmadi. He also praised Dr. S. B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty Vice Principal, Ms. Sayee Kulkarni, Chairman, Debate and Elocution Committee and all the staff members for their dedication and hardwork. Dr. S. B. Kharosekar, Principal, guided the students and encouraged them to perform well. Ms. Sayee Kulkarni, Chairman, Debate and Elocution Committee briefed the audience about the competition.
The competition got an overwhelming response. 46 students represented 27 colleges from Pune, Mumbai, Nashik, Jalgaon, Kolhapur, Chiplun, Satara, and Solapur for the competition. The competition was held in Marathi and English language. Farmers Suicide – How can we prevent them? And Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam – A great patrioit were the most opted topics. Dr. Vaijayanti Belsare, HoD Philosophy, S P College, Pune; Dr. Shubhashree Kale, HoD Marathi, T. J. College, Khadki, Pune; and Ms. Zeenat Khan, HoD English, Shri Shahu Mandir Mahavidyalaya Pune were the judges for the competition.
The Impromptu Speech Competition was also held during the post-lunch session followed by the Prize Distribution Ceremony. In his welcome address, Dr. S. B. Kharosekar, thanked the Management for financial and motivational support. Dr. Sanjay Upadhye, Executive Director Vishwashanti Sangh, World Peace Center, Pune was the chief guest of the prize distribution ceremony.  He mesmerized the audience with his oratory skills. He captivated the audience attention with jovial and humorous speech. He summed up the participants on the eight essentials to be an excellent orator. The participant should – listen and think in amplitude, recollect his thoughts in tranquility, know his audience, know the subject, understand the scope of the subject, be conceived by the subject, conclude the topic.
Mrs. Pooja Ambole announced the winners of the competition. Ms. Kajal Boraste from HPT and RYK College, Nasik won  the first prize. She got a Rolling Trophy, Rs. 5000/- Cash prize, Memento and a Certificate. Ms. Dimple Sahajwala from Fergusson College, Pune and Mr. Anupam Dwivedi from Sinhagad Law College, were the first and second runners-up respectively. They won Rs. 3000/-, Rs. 2000/- Cash prizes, Mementos and Certificates respectively. Ms.Kajal Boraste won the first prize, Ms. Dimple Sahajwala and Mr Anupam Dwivedi won the second and third position for the impromptu competition respectively.
Mrs. Ishita Dixit compered for the programme. Ms. Sayee Kulkarni, Chairman- Elocution and Debate Committee proposed vote of thanks. The programme ended with the recital of Vande Mataram.

Kaveri College of Arts, Science & Commerce arranges State Level Elocution Competition

Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri College of Science & Commerce has organized Dr. Shamarao Kalmadi Memorial State Level Elocution Competition on Thursday, 10th September, 2015. This Competition is a tribute to Dr. Shamarao Kalmadi, Founder President of Kannada Sangha. He was not only a pioneer in the field of medicine but also a great social worker.
The competition will be open to all under graduate and post graduate students in the state of Maharashtra. It will provide a platform for the students to participate in intellectual, social, spiritual and scientific discussions. The competition will also help the students hone their oratorical skills, persuasive skills and leadership skills.  
The subjects for the competition are: A Sound Mind resides in a Sound Body, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam- A Great Patriot, Clean India, Prosperous India, Farmers’ Suicide- How can we prevent them?, Overuse of technology taking away childhood”.
 The inauguration of the competition will take place at the hands of Shri. Kushal Hegde, President, Kannada Sangha. Prize distribution will be done at the hands of Dr. Prof. Sanjay Upadhye, Executive Director, Vishwa Shanti Sangh, MIT, Pune. Winner of this competition will get a Rolling Trophy, Rs. 5000/- Cash prize, Memento and Certificate. Runners-up will get Rs. 3000/- Cash prize, Memento and Certificate. Second Runners-up will get Rs. 2000/- Cash prize, Memento and Certificate. Each participant will get a participation certificate.

“A guest lecture on ‘Certified Financial Planner (CFP) - A new career opportunity’ organized by Kaveri College of Arts, Science & Commerce”



Kaveri College of Arts, Science and commerce has organized a guest lecture on “CFP (Certified Financial Planner) - A new dimension towards a career in the Individual Financial Planning stream” for the students of B.Com & BBA on Friday, 28th August 2015 at 9.00 a.m. The lecture was organized by Vocational Guidance Cell.  Ms. Shilpa Khadilkar- chairperson and other members of Vocational Guidance Cell were present for the lecture.

The lecture was delivered by Mr. Rohan Kulkarni, Director, Rohan’s Academy of Financial Planning. Initially Mr. Rohan explained to the students the importance of financial planning and need of Financial Planner. Then he briefed about course ‘Certified Financial Planner’ and gave the information about duration, fee structure and modules to be completed to work as Certified Financial Planner.  He explained the advantages of CFP course over other professional courses. He also focused on the opportunities a person can get after completion of the CFP Course.

61 students from Commerce stream took benefit of the lecture. Compeering of the program was done by Ms. Sayee Kulkarni and the vote of thanks was given by Ms. Geetanjali Pitre.

Inauguration of NSS regular activities for the academic year 2015-16 held on 25 August 2015 in Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune. Dr. Sanjaykumar Dalvi, Director- Student Welfare Council, Savitribai Phule Pune University was the chief guest of the inauguration programme. Chairperson of the program was Shri. B.B. Rao, Treasurer, Kannada Sangha, Pune. Principal Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Vice-Principal Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, NSS Programme Officer Prof. Anand Buddhikot, college faculty members, and NSS volunteers were present for the program.
The program began with lamp lighting ceremony and with recitation of NSS song. Principal Dr. S. B. Kharosekar precisely defined National service as ‘self-inspirational, self-disciplined, selflessly volunteered service for the nation.’ As per the college tradition Principal gave oath to the NSS volunteers. The chief guest of the program, Dr. Sanjaykumar Dalvi briefed the audience about the inception and purpose of NSS. He emphasized that values get inculcated in a person are mainly from home, schools and colleges. He further added that we should not just recite our National Pledge but implement each and every word composed in our day to day life. Chair person of the program Shri. B.B. Rao guided the students and advised them to utilize various facilities provided in today’s technological world for their self progress and for the progress of the society.
Prof. Chaithra Ucchil compeered the program. NSS Programme Officer Prof. Anand Buddhikot proposed vote of thanks. The program concluded with recitation of ‘Vande Mataram’.
