Industrial Visit by Students of Kaveri


Keveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune organised an Industrial Visit for the students of BBA and BBA IB on 18 October 2019 to ‘Mulay Moulds Pvt. Ltd.’ and ‘Mercedes Benz’, accompanied by the teachers.

Kaveri is one of the few colleges to visit Mercedes Benz.  The students got the opportunity to see the actual manufacturing process of a Mercedes brand of luxury car. They learned about the challenges that  manager might face while working in this industry. Right from the engine induction to the final quality check, the students witnessed all the steps in the manufacturing process. They learned that the capacity of the plant is 20,000 cars. They also got to see the Maybach, a model that is being manufactured exclusively in India and Germany.
The PPT Presentation was very informative and the students gained significant knowledge about “Mercedes Benz” as a brand and its presence in India compared to that in the world. After the presentation a question and answer round was conducted wherein the Marketing Manager addressed many queries and doubts of the students. In a nutshell, the students got to see the practical applications of their studies and also got exposure to the real managerial world. Based solely on how much knowledge the students acquired the visit was a success.

Mulay Polymers Pvt. Ltd. is a manufacturer of Bike Plastic Handle Grip, Bike Plastic Visor and Car Plastic Dashboard. The factory is situated in Chakan near Pune. One of the major department in the factory is Production and Operation along with Purchase, Marketing and Accounting.
 Main aim of industrial visit is to provide an exposure to students about practical working environment. They also provide students a good opportunity to gain full awareness about industrial practices.The visits helped the students to learn the Production and Operations management system, cooperation and team building. Students could very well associate the conceptual aspects learned in classroom with industrial environment. Major learning outcomes from the industrial visit were organisational structure, Production & Management Quality Standards, Branding & Marketing Concepts, Corporate Strategy and Organizational Culture. 47 students were benefited from the visit.

First Time Voters Awareness Programme at Kaveri


Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce organised a programme ‘The importance of casting vote and the underlying dynamics of the first time voters’, on 19th October 2019 to spread awareness regarding voting process. Principal Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Vice Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, teachers and students were also present.
The resource person for the lecture was Ms. Juhi Sadhwani, visiting faculty at Symbiosis School of Economics. She explained the importance of voting to the first time voters. She stated if we do not cast a vote we have no right to say positive or negative things about the Government. She highlighted the problems faced by first time voters and informed how to solve them. She informed about the process of how to enroll your name in the voters list. She also mentioned there are almost 15 million first time voters for the 2019 election. She further informed that it is mandatory to maintain the secrecy while voting.

All the students wholeheartedly and enthusiastically participated in the activity that she conducted. Almost 50 students attended the program.

Placement in Digital Age Session at Kaveri



Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce conducted a session on ‘How to Get Placement in Digital Age’ on 23th October, 2019 in collaboration with MTC Global, Global Entrepreneurs Grid, Bengaluru and Dhaka International University. Mr. Ramesh Vemuganti a global speaker, corporate trainer and one of the pillars of MTC Global was the resource speaker for the day. Principal, Dr. Ashok Agrawal in his inaugural speech said Kaveri’s association with Mr. Ramesh Vemuganti goes way back in time and mentioned how he has been instrumental in guiding the students for securing the best placement opportunities. Vice Principal, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Coordinator Dr. Deepa Sathe, Faculty members and students were present for the same.

While addressing the gathering, the resource person mentioned we are living in 21st century which is governed by digitalisation. This digital era is characterised by a rapid shift from traditional industry to an economy based on information technology. So with this drastic change it is needless to say that we have to modify our conventional approaches as well as develop new skills according to the changing demands of the industries, we have to keep up with the global transformation for better placement opportunities. He said experience always defeats qualifications. He suggested the students to replace the idea of placement with quest of acquiring more knowledge and learning, for knowledge is phenomenal and ageless. He emphasised upon continuous learning as it facilitates growth and development. He also shared the secrets of becoming a global player which will place them one step ahead in this age of cut throat competition and will help them to stand out in the crowed. He said chalking out a daily schedule and following it thoroughly is of utmost significance. Besides, he advised students to follow ‘CASK’ which stands for communication, attitude, skills and knowledge.

While concluding the session he said do not major in minors. There are around 2000 career options, students have to evaluate it, find what suits them best and groom themselves accordingly. Having an idea, creative thinking, adopting positive attitude, maintaining integrity are few other qualities that students should imbibe for a promising future. He conducted fun filled activities where students actively participated. The informal tone adopted by the speaker was much appreciated by the students. Around 110 students benefited from this session.



150 th Birth Anniversary of M.K. Gandhi Celebrated at Kaveri



Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce to commemorate 150 th Birth Anniversary of M.K. Gandhi organised various social activities under National Service Scheme Department on 2th October2019. Mr.Nilesh Nemade, Programme Officer explained the outline of the programme and welcomed all. Principal Dr. Ashok Agarwal in his inaugural addressed mentioned the importance of personality development which occurs through participation in NSS. Vice Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, teachers and students were also present.

The programme started with NSS song. The dignitaries paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. After this, a rally was organised to spread awareness about cleanliness. Students exhibited posters based on the ideas of 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan', 'Plastic Free India' and Mahatma Gandhi. They cleaned the campus and segregated the waste.

A guest lecture by Vaijayanti Chiplonkar, who has worked in Hujurpaga College as Head of Bahishal Department, was arranged. She emphasised on the labour culture and how Gandhi was instrumental in promoting the same. She also acknowledged the importance of non-violence, mental health, social hygiene, organic food production, as preached by Gandhi. She further informed about the works of Sant Gadge Baba and Kasturba Gandhi to emphasize the importance of cleanliness. The programme was concluded by vote of thanks proposed by Mrs. Manasi Joshi.


A Session on Sustainable Development at Kaveri


  Kaveri College of Arts Science and commerce organised a programme on 'Interesting Science Fiction'under Science Association on 27th September 2019. Dr. Sanjay Daga Dhole, Professor of Physics at Pune University was the resource person. PrincipalDr. Ashok Agrawal, Vice Principal Dr.Muckta Karmakar, Coordinator, B.Sc (Computer Science), Dr.Jayashree Bangali, Head of Science association Dr.Anand Budhikot, teachers and students were present
Dr Sanjay Daga Dhole has written as well as published science fictions, with a view to create interest in reading and foster scientific perspectives. He presented the students with 'Aghatit' and other stories which laid out intriguing scientific facts. He said that humankind must balance nature for sustainable development. He created awareness regarding disaster effects caused due to the interference with cycle of nature. He further mentioned that these stories would help students learn the complicated concepts in a simplified manner which will aid them to understand their role in of sustainable development. This was followed by a question answer round. Around 80 students participated.


Vachan Prerana Divas Celebrated at Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce


Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce to commemorate former President, Late Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s Birth Anniversary, had celebrated ‘Vachan Prerana Divas’ on 17th October, 2019. Principal Dr. Ashok Agrawal, in his address said the students saying, reading is the essence of sustenance. He urged them to spend more time in library amidst the company of books and enrich their lives with knowledge, insight and vision. Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice Principal, Faculty members and students were present for the same.
Ms. Sayee Kulkarni presented a book review on the entire series of Harry Potter’s  novels authored by J. K. Rowling which are well liked by students of all age group. She emphasized on life skills like undying bond of friendship, significance of tolerance and confidence. She also threw light upon the elements of magic realism, character development, settings, etc. which helped students discover the joy of reading. She concluded the session by highlighting the importance of reading and suggested them to inculcate it as their hobby because any book is a storehouse of knowledge. 80 students attended the event with great enthusiasm.

World Mental Health Day Celebrated at Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce
According to the recent survey by the American Psychological Association, a life is lost every 40 seconds to suicide; yet, there isn’t sufficient amount of awareness regarding the seriousness of suicidal tendencies, thoughts and the act of committing suicide. Keeping this in view, the UN declared Suicide Prevention as a theme to spread awareness globally this 27th  Mental Health Day. To contribute to it, Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce celebrated this Mental Health Day like every year on 10 October, 2019. Principal Dr. Ashok Agrawal felicitated Mrs. Mughdha Shivapurkar, resource person for the session. Vice Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Faculty members and students were also present for the same.
Right from the decorations to the activities were planned and executed by the dynamic second and third year students pursuing B.A. Psychology. The event began with introducing each other using Chinese ribbons. It was followed by fun filled Visual and Art Therapy workshop, activities involving teamwork, sharing one’s insecurities etc. Mrs Mugdha Shivapurkar also introduced them to small mental health care practices which they can follow on a daily basis. She was given a souvenir as a token of appreciation decorated with the students’ experiences and compliments about how helpful these activities were for them.
Keeping prevention is better than cure as the motto and with an overall objective of spreading awareness to overcome the stigma of mental health problems this day was celebrated which became another successful and memorable event for the college.

Workshop on Self Defence Techniques for Girls at Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce.



A workshop on Self Defence Techniques for girls was arranged by Women’s Forum Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune on Saturday 5 October, 2019. Mrs. Rachana Dhopeshwar, Gold Medalist, Commonwealth and National Judo Coach was the Resource Person for the workshop who was accompanied by her team comprising of Ms. Rucha Dhopeshwar, International Judo Player who also holds fifth place in Asia, Ms. Gautami Kanchan Commonwealth Silver Medalist, Mr. Aditya Dhopavkar Commonwealth Silver Medalist and Ms. Piyusha Dhamale National Judo Player. The workshop began with a welcome address by Mrs. Pooja Ambole, Chairperson Women’s Forum followed by an inaugural address by Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Principal, Kaveri College. Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Vice Principal, Faculty members and students were present for the same.

Mrs. Rachana Dhopeshwar in her session shared some words of wisdom and said that self defense does not only mean defending oneself from robbery and sexual harassment but also preventing physical damage caused as a result of accidents. The workshop focused on Techniques of falling, Techniques of Self Defense during Accidents and Self Defense from Robbery and Sexual harassment. It included the demonstration of various types of jumps and measures to balance weight while jumping, to choke a wind pipe and to slip from a tight grip in case of severe attack and similar other techniques of defeating the attacker. It was tightly packed with numerous such demonstrations. Besides, it was a practical session involving the participants’ active participation. It was concluded by a question answer round. Twenty two girls benefited from this session.

Mumbai Dabbewala Management Theory Explored at Kaveri.


Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce organised ‘Out of The Box Management’ session on Mumbai Dabbewala Management Theory under Kaveri Entrepreneur Development Cell ( KEDC )on 7th September 2019. President of Mumbai Dabbewala Association Mr. Subhash Talekar was invited to guide our students, who also spoke about the Six Sigma Performance Theory. President Mr. Kushal Hedge, Secretary Malati Kalmadi, Trustee Mr. Balajit Shetty, Joint Treasurer Ms. Radhika Sharma, Principal Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Vice Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, students from other colleges, parents, corporate personals, teachers and around 550 students attended the programme.
 Mr.Talekar took the audience by surprise with his witty and informative presentation. It started with a short film ‘Steps and Strides’ featuring the Mumbai Dabbewalas, their hard work and precise planning. He further shared a beautiful incident about the statue at Hazi Ali chowk, difficulties they had to face and how they managed to convince everyone for the same. He shared the history of the organisation and its functioning. The presentation was followed by a question answer round, parents and students actively participated in this round. The key takeaways of the session were the supply chain management which is followed by the dabbewalas, the uninterrupted services that is provided for all these years Mr.Talekar was proud to inform all that the dabbewalas take only 2 holidays a year, he further mentioned that team work and customer care are the back bone of any business. All these points were unfolded with interesting stories and incidents which dabbewalas have witnessed all these years. The session proved  to be highly informative for all.

Industrial Visit by Kaveri


Kevari College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune organised an Industrial Visit for the students of SY, TYBBA and TYBBA IB on 28 August 2019 to Pacific Semiconductors Private Limited (PSPL) and Bhagirathi Foods, accompanied by the teachers.

Pacific Semiconductors Private Limited (PSPL) functions in the areas like designing, development, manufacturing and assembly-integration for the Indian Armed Forces and Ordnance Factories.  Mr Prashant Deshpande is the founder Director of Pacific, guided students and showed them the Assembly room and explained about different testing techniques. .

Bhagirathi Foods is a chocolate manufacturing company. The visit to this institute provided students the information about the processes of packaging and chocolate manufacturing.These two companies provided the students with real insight of working procedure of the organisation. The visit to both the Companies provided an opportunity for the students to get a hands-on learning experience of the industry operations.

Around 96 students benefited from the visits. The visits helped the students to understand the dynamics of start-ups and growth of industries.
