Pollution, Global Warming, Deforestation, the
melting of ice caps are posing grave dangers to the planet Earth. To make
students aware of these environmental issues, Environmental Forum of Kannada
Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts Science and Commerce had organized a Two
Day Film Festival on 10 th and 11th January 2017. The films were
shown under the guidance of Mrs. Shweta Bapat, Coordinator, Environmental
Forum.
The movies were shown in collaboration with The
Kirloskar International Film Festival, Pune. Movies related to wildlife, earth care, water conservation,
waste management, and endangered species were screened for the students. Movies
such as Honoring India’s Wild Life, Tigers – They are all Dead, Don’t buy
Trouble and Plastic Planet were shown to the students to make them understand
the humanity’s manipulation of Nature, and the resultant harm caused to Nature.
The movies also presented the scope of the problem related to environmental
issues and offered hopeful solutions.
In collaboration with social organization
Lokayat, a documentary ‘Soft Drinks and Environmental Impact’ was also
screened. The screening was followed by the discussion and then a simple screening
test was demonstrated for detecting the PH level of cold-drinks.
Ms. Sayee Kulkarni compered the program.
Students in large number attended the
movie festival.
