State Level Seminar held at Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce

Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized State Level Seminar on ‘Recent Developments in Indian Banking Sector’ on 23rd January, 2016. The Seminar was sponsored by Savitribai Phule Pune University under Quality Improvement Programme organized by Department of Business Economics of the college. The seminar aimed to provide a platform for intellectuals to deliberate upon developments in Indian Banking Sector. Sub-themes of the seminar were Differential Banking in India, Changes in the Monetary Policy of Reserve Bank of India and Green Banking in India.
The seminar was inaugurated at the hands of Shri. Kushal Hegde, President, Kannada Sangha, Pune. He welcomed and felicitated the Chief Guest Dr. Achintan Bhattacharya, Director, NIBM, Pune. He briefed the participants about Kaveri Group of Institutes.
In his keynote address, Dr. Bhattacharya spoke about future trends in Banking like Digital Banking, Mobile Banking and online banking. He also highlighted the concept of JAM which comprises Jan Dhan, Adhar card and Mobile Banking which will help in the financial inclusion in India. Dr. S. B. Kharosekar Principal, Kaveri College, Mrs. Suchsmita Mohanty Vice Principal staff members, participants were present for the inauguration.
In the first session, Dr. Arwah Madan, Associate Profosser, Dept. of Economics, St. Mira’s College for Girls, Pune expressed her views on Emergence and Challenges of ‘Differential Banking’. Dr. Kalyani Kulkarni HoD, Economics, Fergusson College, Pune was the speaker for the second session. She focused on the framework of Monetary Policy, Interest Rate Corridor, Narrow Rate Corridor and Central Bank Autonomy.  During the third session, Mr. Gautam Prakash, Asst. General Manager, CAB, RBI, Pune enlightened the participants on ‘Green Banking’. He highlighted the damages caused by banking operations to the environment and role of banks in promoting sustainable banking.    
The queries of the participants were satisfactorily answered by all the speakers. The seminar was compeered by Mrs. Pooja Ambole and Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty proposed the vote of thanks. It concluded with recitation of Vande Mataram.
