A tree plantation programme had been organised
at Taljai hill, Pune, under NSS, by Kanada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce. Principal
Dr. Ashok Agrawal, Vice Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, teachers and students
participated in this programme. They motivated students by participating in
this programme. Forest Guard - Rohini Gadge was also present on this occasion.
Mr.
Sachin Devkate, Program Officer for National Service Scheme, informed the
students about the issue of environmental conservation and made them aware about
the causes and side effects of global temperature rise. Mr. Sumedh Waghmare,
who is popularly known as "Birdman" entertained the students by mimicking
Bird sounds such as peacock, pigeon, bulbul, and inspired them to enjoy nature.
He helped spread awareness among the students about the importance of birds and
the environment of birds.
Tree planting program consisted of digging pits
for planting trees, planting trees, and watering trees, cutting weed and
cleaning the surrounding area. The volunteers also collected plastic and solid
waste and cleaned the entire area. Volunteers planted more than 300 trees,
including banyan saplings, peepal saplings, pomegranate saplings, etc. The
campaign was successfully carried out with the help of APO Mr. Nilesh Nemade and members.
