Special Winter Camp of NSS Volunteers of Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce

A group of volunteers of National Service Scheme unit of the college attended the seven-day Special Winter Camp of at Kasar Amboli, Tal. Mulshi, Dist. Pune. “Swacch Bharat Abhiyan” was the theme of the camp.The camp began on 18th Dec, 2015 with the inauguration at the hands of the Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce in the presence of Mr. Anand Buddhikot, NSS Programme Officer, Mr. Sachin Deokate, Asst. Program Officer, Mrs. Meena Shinde, Sarpanch of the village and Mr. Umesh Sutar, Upasarpanch. Mrs. Shraddhali Sutar, Member, Grampanchayat, Mrs. Suvarna Sutar, Mrs. Chhaya Bhilare, Mrs. Kamini Shinde, Mr. Shekhar Shinde, Mr. Sachin Dhumal  along with other villagers, faculty members of the college and all NSS Volunteers were also present at the occasion.Mr. Buddhikot welcomed the dignitaries and all others present for the inauguration function and explained the purpose of the camp.  Dr. S. B. Kharosekar congratulated villagers for non-addiction as an achievement of the village.
The volunteers undertook the Cleanliness Campaign in the village. They cleaned the temples, street and nearby places of the village. They also arranged ‘Prabhat Pheri’ everyday for creating awareness of social issues like education, female foeticide, cleanliness and patriotism. There were also lectures conducted on “Positive Thinking” by Mr. Govind Bobade, “Misconceptions about snakes” by ‘Sarp-mitra’ Mr. Sharad Gund, “Participation of Students in NSS” by Dr. Ramkrishna Dhere, “Schemes for Rural Development” by Mr. S.S. Gundale, “Agnihotra- need of the day” by Mrs. Manasi Joshi, and “Leadership Qualities by Mr. Anand Buddhikot.
The valedictory function took place on the last day of NSS Camp on 24 December2015. Mr. Pacharane was the chief guest of the program. Kannada Sangha Pune secretary Mrs. Malati Kalmadi., Principal Dr. S. B. Kharosekar, Mr. Anand Buddhikot, NSS Programme Officer, Mr. Sachin Deokate, Asst. Program Officer, village inspection committee head of Central Government Mr. Bhati, Mrs. Meena Shinde, Sarpanch of the village and Mr. Umesh Sutar, Upasarpanch. Staff members and students were present for the function. NSS Programmee Officer Mr. Anand Buddhikot in his introductory speech summarized the cleanliness drive conducted by NSS students in the village during 18th December 2015 to 24 December 2015.  Students Devashree Tulshibagwale, Mohit Pansare, Shruti Bapat, Yashodeep Unecha and Siddharth also shared their experiences of NSS special winter camp. Principal Dr. S. B. Kharosekar appealed the audience that the college would like to adopt the village and will help the village in getting the Nirmal Gram Award. He also mentioned that this is the second year of NSS camp in the village Kasar Amboli. He praised the NSS volunteers for their sincere efforts in all the activities conducted during the camp. He appealed the NSS volunteers to conduct various programs such as Swwach Bharat, Samruddha Bharat, Literacy drive and Use of technology for the villagers. Chief Guest for the program Mr. Pacharane said that NSS is a great platform for students to develop various skill like time management, group management etc. Mrs. Kalmadi appealed that the village school should be adopted so as to conduct various developmental activities for the students round the year. She also praised all the NSS volunteers for their contribution throughout the camp. Village inspection committee head of Central Government Mr. Bhati appreciated NSS volunteers’ cleanliness drive in the village Kasar Amboli. Mr. Anand Buddhikot expressed that development of village leads to development of the country.

The love and cooperation from the villagers was appreciated by the College authorities. The Volunteers expressed their gratitude towards the college and to the villagers for the wonderful experience. Student volunteer Pratiksha Sutar compeered the program and vote of thanks was proposed by NSS Programme Officer Mr. Anand Buddhikot.
