The NSS Unit of the college along with our academic partner NSDL organized a financial literacy workshop on 31st December 2020 from 12.30 pm to 2.30 pm.
Mr. Nilesh Nemade, NSS Programme Officer introduced the
programme and welcomed the resource persons and the students.
The resource persons for the workshop were Mr. Marlin
Corriera from NSDL and Mr. A.K Prabhakar , Head of Research IDBI Capital
Markets and Securities Ltd.
Mr. Marlin Corriera talked about financial securities like
equity shares, preference shares, etc. He talked about investing, stock
markets, etc. He also talked about exchange traded funds, and the power of
compounding in the stock markets. He
gave the example of Infosys Ltd about how a meagre investment could gain huge
returns. He appealed to the students to invest early.
Mr. A. K Prabhakar talked about dematerialization and the
procedure of opening a ‘Demat Account’ and gave detailed information about it.
He emphasized on the ‘Role of Depository’ in the capital market. He also made
the students aware about working of Indian Capital market and explained the
benefits of investing in the stock market.
After the session, it was opened for questions and answers.
The students enthusiastically asked questions to the resource persons. More
than 150 participants participated in the workshop.
Session
was very informative and students enjoyed it a lot.
