Women’s Day 2022 : Women's Empowerment and Challenging Barriers An Experience Sharing


Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, in association with SkillSlate Foundation had organized an international conference on the occasion of Women's Day on 8th March 2022, on the topic- Women's Empowerment and Challenging Barriers-An Experience Sharing.

Mr. Ameya Agrawal-Founder SkillSlate Foundation welcomed everyone and briefed about the basic motive of organizing this session. Dr. Jayashri Bangali talked about the significance of Women’s Day. Principal Dr. Ashok Agrawal virtually welcomed all the dignitaries. Mr. Kushal Hegde- President, Kannada Sangha, wished all the women a Happy Women’s Day, and expressed gratitude towards everyone for their presence. 

Dr. Jayashri Bangali briefly introduced the Chief Guest of the programme- Dr. Vinitha Guptan- Vice Chancellor, Saito University College, Malaysia. Dr. Vinitha very graciously began the session by narrating the story of her life in exceptional style and manner. She shared how she faced adversities and hurdles in life and how she overcame them. She insisted on indulging a thinking in the audience that “what comes to me, belongs to me”. She also emphasized on the fact that we live in a society and we have to walk with everyone, rather we need everyone who comes in our life and we must learn to make best use of every possible person and circumstances. She focused on the idea that with proper will power, determination, and social support, one can easily achieve the desired goals. She inspired and motivated the women to keep going in all kinds of circumstances by sharing her experiences in this session.

Guest of honor, Dr. Meena Rajesh- Vice Chancellor, G.H. Raisoni University, Saikheda(MP) shared her experiences regarding personal life as well as career making journey and left the listeners awestrucked with her achievements. She majorly talked about the barriers women face in multidimensional ways in many aspects as well as the perceptions about the women the society beholds. She expressed that the barriers and adversities in her life made her more strong and capable. She mentioned that she feels immense satisfaction and happiness while looking back to her successful journey from mere Assistant Professor to Vice Chancellor. She concluded with a very remarkable statement: “Change the changeable, Accept the unchangeable, And Remove yourself from unacceptable.”

Guest of honor,Professor Dr. Jaskiran Kaur- Pro Vice Chancellor, Lingaya’s Vidyapeeth, Haryana talked briefly about her experiences while studying, her first job in Singapore, Family Balancing, etc. She also talked about financial issues, time management skills, support systems, and many more things one has to think about while on a journey towards success. She inspired everyone by sharing her exceptional and remarkable journey.

Guest of honor, Kakoli Sen- Pro Vice Chancellor, IILM University, Gurgaon, very persistently mentioned that there is no need to empower women as women are already the basic source of power, they possess all the strength within, and that there is only the need to support and appreciate them from time to time as it becomes little unmanageable for women to get everything done perfectly at a time single handedly. She also said that it's amazing to see women making their identity in all the existing fields and they do not lack in anything. 

Mr. Lalit Gandhi- President, MACCIA, Mumbai, guest of honor appreciated all speakers for their unique way of dealing with adversities and successful achievements and experience sharing. He insisted that the existence and efficiency of women should not be celebrated just for a day but for the entire year and all the time. He talked briefly about Gender perspectives in education and other efficiently sensible topics. He emphasized the fact that changing the mindsets of men as well as of women is necessary to bring about more reform in empowering women and their success. 

Mrs. Malatii Kalmadi, Secretary,Kannada Sangha, expressed that she felt overwhelmed with the session taken by all the speakers, she thanked everyone for their remarkable experience sharing and appreciated the huge response by the audience to the session organized on the occasion of Women’s Day. Dr. Jayashri Bangali proposed a vote of thanks towards the speakers, guests, dignitaries and audience of the first session of the program.

In the second session,Ms.Pallavi Joshi introduced and welcomed the Guest of honor for the technical session- Ms. Vasanti Joshi-Assistant Professor SNDT College, Pune. She mentioned that Ms. Vasanti has traveled 4500+ kms on cycle from Kanyakumari to Leh, which is very exceptional and indeed an unique achievement. Ms. Vasanti began her session by talking about the history and origin of International Women’s Day. She expressed immense satisfaction for the fact that nowadays women are not lacking behind in any single field and have managed to make their identity on every possible platform just like men, rather a step ahead of men. Throughout the session, she shared the needed information and adventurous  as well as thrilling experiences of her prior journeys executed successfully on cycle which ranged from Himalayas, Narmada Parikrama, Pune to Kanyakumari, Kanyakumari to Leh, etc. She also expressed gratitude and informed the audience about the Jigar Club and Cycle Pratishthan for their consistent co-operation and support. She very fondly emphasized on breaking the bias. She made the session very informative, motivating and enlightening for women. 

Mr. Sudhakar Rao- Trustee, Kannada Sangha, Pune and Vice Principal Dr. Muckta Karmarkar graced the occasion with their presence. Ms. Pallavi Joshi proposed a vote of thanks towards the guests, hosts, audience. It was indeed a successful event which was attended by hundreds of participants on the platform of zoom as well as youtube live.
