Ms.
Kapadia thanked Principal Dr. Agrawal for pro-actively accepting the proposal
and providing the platform for the betterment of the society. She emphasised
the vital role of youth to transform the nation and how such programmes help
igniting the young minds.
Mr. Sachin Kamath and Ms. Clarissa Jathanna were the two expert facilitators provided by the M. R. Pai Foundation for guiding our students on various essential skills like ‘Setting & Achieving Goals’, ‘The Power of Habits’, ‘Sharpening Vital Skills’ and ‘Understanding Self and Others’.
On 24 July 2020, Mr. Kamath while conducting session
on ‘Goal Setting’ emphasized on clearly writing down the specific goal with a
particular time line of achieving the goal. He highlighted that to achieve the
clearly defined and set goals, there are three essentials, namely, knowledge,
skill and attitude. He motivated students, with numerous examples, to proceed
towards achieving goal by finding strengths, opportunities,
identifying obstacles and by finding solutions on one’s own. ‘तूचआहेतुझ्याजीवनाचाशिल्पकार’
meaning ‘you are the creator of your destiny’ is a very apt statement applicable
to everyone, he emphasised.
During
his session on ‘Power of Habits’, Mr. Kamath took students over a journey of
introspection, urging students to make a list of daily activities and a list of
habits. In order to cultivate good habits, he introduced the Time Management
Matrix to the students. He explained stating that habits work in 3-step loop:
cue, routine and reward. He said habits depend on one’s willpower. He explained
the attributes of good habits. In order to enable students to understand how
habit influences, Mr. Kamath divided students into different groups having
different boardrooms.
On 25 July 2020, Ms. Clarissa Jathanna made the sessions on Sharpening Vital Skills and Understanding Self & Others very interactive by throwing open the virtual platform to students to come forward and participate in the training. She said effective communication skill is the core of all vital skills. She highlighted on the 4-P’s Technique of Speaking – Pitch, Pace, Pause and Power. she explained that speaking should be concrete, concise and with clarity. She extended tips to students on how to face interview, becoming punctual, time management and setting goals.
The
second session was introduced to students in a very effective and unique way of
letting the students understand the ‘Johari Window’ concept. The pictorial
representation of Open, Blind, Hidden and Unknown quadrants of one’s life was
very intriguing. She explained each quadrant in very simple way and also
responded to the queries of students with ease. She urged students to take a
stock of ‘self-inventory’ by asking oneself a set of questions and find the
answers. Further, she discussed with the participants about the basic causes of
anger and how can they control their anger. She advocated to have a mood
tracker in order to enhance the quality of understanding self and others.
During
the valedictory session, Principal Dr. Agrawal admired the facilitators for
their adept and interactive facilitation of the two-day programme even on
virtual platform. He further expressed his satisfaction over enthusiastic
participation by the students. The programme witnessed a feedback session from
few students about their learnings from it.
More
than 70 students actively participated in the Leadership Development Programme.
They enthusiastically participated during all these sessions. All the sessions
were very inspiring and motivating for the participants.
