Faculty of Arts organized the Kaveri Film Festival

Faculty of Arts organized the Kaveri Film Festival from 09th to 12th October 2017. The Film Festival was started in 2015 as an initiative to make students understand and appreciate world cinema and thereby encourage learning of finer nuances of the creative process.
This year’s Film festival showcased a wide array of films like The Shawshank Redemption, The Diary of Anne Frank, Shutter Island and Zootopia. Each film screening was followed by an activity conducted by teachers.
On 9th October, the Festival began with the screening of the classic movie, The Shawshank Redemption. It was followed by a crossword puzzle game and a discussion about hope and resilience by Ms. Sonali Joshi. The students were also asked to come up with their ideas of a prequel or sequel to the movie.

Mrs. Priya Deshmukh discussed the life of prisoners in the concentration camps during the World War II after the screening of The Diary of Anne Frank  on 10th Oct.
Shutter Island was shown on 11th October and was followed by a discussion about the open-ending of the film and the students came up with various possibilities of ‘What could have been..’ initiated by Ms. Mugdha Shivapurkar.

The students were hooked to the gripping animation and beautiful presentation of our last film Zootopia. The screening was followed by a dialogue on the economical aspects that were seen in the movie with reference to a few clippings that had been shortlisted from the movie. This activity was facilitated by Ms. Shweta Bhagat on 12th Oct.

Students from Arts and Commerce faculties attended the festival on all four days. All the films received great appreciation from the students. Their enthusiasm and active participation made the festival a wonderful experience for all.
