Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony held at Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce





The annual prize distribution of Kaveri College was held on 24th February 2017. Renowned Media Personality and the indisputable master of interviews Mr. Sudhir Gadgil was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Dr. Narayan Hegde, Vice President, Kannada Sangha Pune, Mrs. Indira Salian, Vice President, Kannada Sangha, Radhika Sharma, Trustee, Kannada Sangha, Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College, Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice Principal, Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Head, Cultural Committee were the other dignitaries present on the occasion.

Dr. S.B. Kharosekar presented the Annual Report for the academic year 2016-17. He also shared the biggest achievement of the college in receiving the Permanent Affiliation Status by Savitribai Phule Pune University. He also mentioned the numerous awards, medals, trophies won by the students in various prestigious competitions such as P. C. Alexander Trophy for State Level Inter-university Elocution competition, and Purushottam Karandak Trophy etc. Dr. Narayan Hegde in his speech praised the students saying that their achievements in academics as well as in extra-curricular activities have enriched Kaveri Group of Institutes and that the group takes immense pride in imbibing greater values to its students who in turn bring laurels to them. He also praised and congratulated the staff of Kaveri College for their untiring efforts in shaping up careers of the students. 

Mr. Gadgil’s list of interviewees has perhaps all the great names from the world of politics, sports, music and entertainment. He shared that he is the only interviewer who has interviewed the late Shivsena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray for 13 times. He also shared interesting anecdotes from his interviews with Superstar Amitabh Bachchan and his professionalism, versatile singer Asha Bhosle and her ageless enthusiasm, India’s nightingale Lata Mangeshkar and her photographic skills, and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and her unique memory enhancing lessons. His quick repartee, great sense of humor & timing, and exceptional communication skills kept the audience enthralled.

Three outgoing students Sumant Sen, Prachi Dabi, and Samruddhi Pathare shared their experiences of spending three glorious years with Kaveri College. They got emotional while narrating the anecdotes, events and experiences of their association with Kaveri College which have enriched their lives. Prizes were distributed to the students in various categories such as academics, sports, NSS, cultural awards, inter-college awards, Endowment awards, Special awards, etc. Ms. Sushmita Sumant of TYBA bagged the Best Outgoing Student award; Mr. Sumant Sen of TYBA bagged the Best All-rounder Student Award. While Ms. Akansha Shinde, TYBCOM was chosen as the ‘Most Outgoing Student’ for the Vishnu Moreshwar Karmarkar Award and Mr. Rohan Paunikar, TYBCOM was chosen for the prize of ‘Most Outstanding Sportsmen’ of the year for the Sunita Vishnu Karmarkar Award. Ms. Jui Vaidya was awarded with ‘Dr. Shamarao Kalmadi Award for the Most Meritorious Student’ with Rs. 2500/- and Mr. Rajeev Godambe, former student, TYBSc(CS) was given a scholarship of Rs. 11000/- in the memory of ‘Late Shri Ramesh Khode’. The Best NSS Volunteer Award was bagged by Ms. Deoshree Tulshibaugwale, SYBsc(CS) and Yashodip Unecha, SYBCOM.   
Dr. Muckta Karmarkar, Dr. Jayashree Bangali, Mrs. Deepa Sathe and Mrs. Shweta Bapat were also felicitated for presenting research papers in the International Conferences. The Non teaching staff, Mr. Ajinkya Ubhe and Mr. Nilesh Siddhye were also felicitated for their outstanding contribution. Ms. Sayee Kulkarni compeered the program and Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice- Principal gave vote of thanks. The ceremony ended with the recital of Vande Mataram.
