Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science & Commerce organized Kaveri
Career Fair on 4th and 5th June 2016 for the 12th pass students and their
parents. The Kaveri Career Fair was organized with the objective of providing a
platform for students and parents to interact with experts to make an informed
decision about one’s career. Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College,
Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice-Principal, Mrs. Shweta Bapat, Head, Kaveri Career
Fair, Co-ordinators, Teachers, Students and Parents were present for all the
sessions. In his welcome address, Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, informed the
audience about history and establishment of Kannada Sangha, Pune and Kaveri
College. He spoke about the principles of the institution and focussed on the
distinct features of the college like parent teacher’s meeting, assistance to
the students for overall development, mentoring, students profile, etc. This
career fair had four well defined sessions viz.: Commerce, Management, IT and
Computer Science and Arts.
On 4th
June, 2016, Dr. Aditya Abhyankar, Dean Department of Technology, SPPU conducted
a session on Careers in Science, IT and Computer Science. He informed the
audience about career paths from I2IT, NIIT, DIT and DST. He guided
about the admission process to these institutes and the course structure. In
the second session, Dr. Anand Wadadekar, Founder, Director and CEO, Discovering
Careers, India guided the students and parents about career opportunities in
Arts, Journalism, Civil Services and Foreign Languages. He mentioned various
opportunities like performing arts, law, architecture, library science,
economics, etc.
In a
session on Careers in Commerce, Dr. Amruta Kulkarni, Eminent Career Counsellor,
highlighted features of CA, CS and CMA. She said that there is a great demand
for Company Secretaries and Chartered Accountants in our country. She also
stressed upon the fact that there is a great need of finishing schools in the field
of commerce to make the students market ready. Dr. Anand Wadadekar during his
session on Careers in Management said that in the modern era of technology, the expansive and
comprehensive global market presents amazing and excellent career opportunities
in different fields of management like Sales, Marketing, HR,
Customer Service, IT and Finance. He also spoke about the upcoming areas like
Business Analytics, Banking and Insurance, Event Management, etc. The field of management is one of the highest
paid careers in today’s scenario. All the sessions ended by an
open forum wherein the students interacted with the experts.
