Tree Plantation Drive by Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce

As a part of social responsibility Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce successfully undertook a tree plantation drive on the 21st July 2016 at Nagari Van Udyan, Warje, Pune.

The drive was inaugurated by Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College who emphasized on the importance of tree plantation to save our ecology. He said serious efforts are needed to reduce carbon emissions to lessen the effects of global climate change and one such effort is massive tree plantation drive which can prevent pollution and increase the green cover around. On the occasion Dr. Kharosekar also informed that Kaveri College, in its bid to fight climate change and Global warming, has launched ‘One Student, One Tree Campaign’ and has resolved to plant 1100 trees till 15^th August 2016.

As a part of this Campaign, about 200 students from Kaveri College and staff members planted saplings of Bauhinia Variegata(Kanchan Tree), Ficus Religiosa(Pimple Tree), Bauhinia recemosa(Apte Tree), Banyan tree(Wad), and Azadirachta indica(Neem Tree) in the premises of Nagari Van Udyan.

Forest Conservator Mr. M.P. Bhavsar said that the real challenge after tree-plantation would be to see that all the saplings that have been planted, grow and survive. He requested the students to visit the Udyan regularly and nurture the saplings till they grow into trees.

Representatives of Pune Forest Department, Ms. Devyani Pund and Ms. Neelam Chavan were also present on the occasion.

Staff members Mr.Anand Buddhikot, Mrs.Bhakti Dandekar, Mr. Sachin Deokate, Mr. Rohit Tambe, Mr. Nilesh Nemade and Ms. Swaroopa Barve planted saplings and contributed towards the green drive.

Orientation Programme for the First Year students of Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce

Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, conducted the Orientation Programme for the first year students of B.Com, B.Sc., BBA, BBA (CA), BBA (IB) and BA and their parents on 11^th July, 2016 in the college auditorium.

Mrs. Malati Kalmadi, Secretary, Kannada Sangha Pune was the Chief Guest. Mr. B.B. Rao, Hon. Treasurer Kannada Sangha Pune was the Guests of Honour for the programme. Dr. S.B.Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College, Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice Principal, Teachers and alumni were present on this ocassion.  The first year students and their parents in large number attended the programme. The programme began with the recitation of Vidyapeeth Geet. In her welcome speech, Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty appealed the students to make best use of all the facilitates and activities offered by the college for holistic development.

Smt. Malati Kalmadi, Secretary, Kannada Sangha Pune interacted with the students. She advised the students that Leadership, Sports and Arts are the three essentials to have a bright career. She said that each one should find out his strengths and weaknesses to lead a successful life. She also informed the parents about the establishment and growth of Kannada Sangha Pune.

Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, in his speech appealed the parents to improve and develop communication with their wards for their holistic development. He further said that it will boost their confidence and they will feel secured.

On this occasion, two of the alumni of the college, Ms. Jui Vaidya and Mr. Priyal Shilimkar shared their experiences about the college and stressed upon the immense contribution of the college in their overall progress. The glimpses of various events and activities to be carried out by the college in the academic year ahead were presented by Ms. Sayee Kulkarni.

Ms. Sayee Kulkarni compered the programme while Dr. Jayashri Bangali, Co-ordinator, B.Sc(CS) proposed the vote of thanks.

International Day of Yoga Celebrated at Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce

 “Yoga Every Day, Keeps the Doctor Away!” says Principal, Dr. S. B. Kharosekar at the celebration of International day of Yoga in Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce on 21^st June, 2016.  On this occasion, Dr. Kharosekar expressed importance of Yoga for healthy life. He also said that Yoga keeps us physically, mentally and spiritually balanced. He mentioned that Yoga is the best medicine for healing all the known and unknown diseases sculpting the body both internally and externally. It is a holistic approach to health and well being. It promotes harmony among people in their professional and personal lives. He assured that different Yoga activities will be conducted throughout the year for the college staff and students in the college.  The event was organised in association with Datta Kriya Yoga International Pune Center.

Dr. A. J. Thanawala, Datta Kriya Yoga International Pune Center, Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice Principal, and Mr. Anand Buddhikot, NSS PO, were present on this occasion. The teaching, non-teaching staff members and students participated in large numbers in the event.

On this occasion, Dr. Thanawala said that Yoga is our birth right and International Yoga day is golden day in the history of mankind. He also said that transformation of mind is the greatest miracle which can be achieved through ancient science of Yoga. He said that Yoga helps in curing many chronic and incurable diseases. He mentioned the importance of various asanas and Naad Yoga.  Dr. Thanawala conducted the session on meditation, pranayam, and simple asanas for the participants.

Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized the Kaveri Career Fair

Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science & Commerce organized Kaveri Career Fair on 4th and 5th June 2016 for the 12th pass students and their parents. The Kaveri Career Fair was organized with the objective of providing a platform for students and parents to interact with experts to make an informed decision about one’s career. Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College, Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice-Principal, Mrs. Shweta Bapat, Head, Kaveri Career Fair, Co-ordinators, Teachers, Students and Parents were present for all the sessions. In his welcome address, Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, informed the audience about history and establishment of Kannada Sangha, Pune and Kaveri College. He spoke about the principles of the institution and focussed on the distinct features of the college like parent teacher’s meeting, assistance to the students for overall development, mentoring, students profile, etc. This career fair had four well defined sessions viz.: Commerce, Management, IT and Computer Science and Arts.

On 4th June, 2016, Dr. Aditya Abhyankar, Dean Department of Technology, SPPU conducted a session on Careers in Science, IT and Computer Science. He informed the audience about career paths from I²IT, NIIT, DIT and DST. He guided about the admission process to these institutes and the course structure. In the second session, Dr. Anand Wadadekar, Founder, Director and CEO, Discovering Careers, India guided the students and parents about career opportunities in Arts, Journalism, Civil Services and Foreign Languages. He mentioned various opportunities like performing arts, law, architecture, library science, economics, etc.

In a session on Careers in Commerce, Dr. Amruta Kulkarni, Eminent Career Counsellor, highlighted features of CA, CS and CMA. She said that there is a great demand for Company Secretaries and Chartered Accountants in our country. She also stressed upon the fact that there is a great need of finishing schools in the field of commerce to make the students market ready. Dr. Anand Wadadekar during his session on Careers in Management said that in the modern era of technology, the expansive and comprehensive global market presents amazing and excellent career opportunities in different fields of management like Sales, Marketing, HR, Customer Service, IT and Finance. He also spoke about the upcoming areas like Business Analytics, Banking and Insurance, Event Management, etc. The field of management is one of the highest paid careers in today’s scenario. All the sessions ended by an open forum wherein the students interacted with the experts.

Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce organizes the Kaveri Career Fair

Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri College of Science & Commerce organizes Kaveri Career Fair on 4th and 5th June 2016 for the 12^th pass students and their parents. The Kaveri Career Fair is organized with the objective of providing a platform for students and parents to interact with experts to make an informed decision about one’s career.

This career fair has four well defined sessions viz.: Commerce, Management, IT and Computer Science and Arts. On 4th June, 2016 at 5.00pm there will be a session on Careers in Science, IT and Computer Science addressed by Dr. Aditya Abhyankar, Dean Department of  Technology, SPPU and at 6.30pm a session on Careers in Arts, Journalism, Civil Services , Foreign Languages will be addressed by Dr. Anand Wadadekar, Founder, Director and CEO, Discovering Careers, India. Dr. Amruta Kulkarni, Eminent Career Counsellor, will talk on Careers in Commerce on 5th June, 2016 at 10.30am and Dr. Anand Wadadekar will guide on Careers in Management, Hotel Management, Travel and Tourism at 12 noon.

The experts will throw light on the different courses in the said stream; various add on courses and will provide insights on the job market. The session would end by an open forum wherein the participants may ask questions to the experts. Campus Visit prior to each session and one to one counseling after each session will also be available.
