One Day Seminar on Career Opportunities in Research Organized Successfully in Kaveri College”






        Kaveri Research and Innovation center of Kaveri college of Arts Science and Commerce and Board of Students Development, Savitribai Phule Pune University(SPPU) jointly organized One Day Seminar on Career Opportunities in Research for Science Students on 18th August 2017. Dr. Aditya Abhyankar Dean,Department of Technology, SPPU Pune, Dr. A.D.Shaligram Head, Department of Electronic Science, SPPU Pune and Dr Manasi Patwardhan, Senior Faculty Department of Computer Science ,VIT Pune were invited as resource persons for the Seminar. Hon. Mr. Kushal Hegde, President, Kannada Sangha, Hon. Mr. B. Baburao, Treasurer, Kannada Sangha, Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College, Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice-Principal, Kaveri College, Dr. Jayashri Bangali, Head, KRIC, Mr.Anand Buddikot Head, Student Development Officer, Staff members and Students were present on the occasion
In his welcome address, Dr. S.B. Kharosekar highlighted the importance of research and its impact on students and staff. He spoke about Kaveri Research and Innovation Centre (KIDC) of college and the purpose behind establishing this center.  He said, “Research is seeking an answer to a problem in a scientific way”. He also spoke about the positive and negative aspect of research.
Prof. Dr. A.D.Shaligram in his session spoke about the importance of scientific method, which requires intelligence, imagination, and creativity and its importance in solving any kind of problem. Furthermore, he emphasized that research is a combination of resources and ideas and is about Investigation of a problem in scientific manner. Research involves gaining knowledge, interpreting data and disseminating the findings. 


Dr. Aditya Abhyankar spoke about the different opportunities related to research and shared his own journey of doing research in USA. He gave the mantra to the students, “work smart rather than working hard.’ He also shared his experience of working at the prestigious Google Company. He said innovation always happens at young age and wished everyone for serious and research. Dr Manasi Patwardhan said Research is basically a science and she explained how research can be carried in a scientific way. She gave real life examples and explained about various data collective methods.

The programme received an overwhelming response from the students. Total 137 students from different colleges of the city like Sinhgad College, Christ College, Prof.Ramakrishna More College,Modern College and Kaveri College attended the seminar. Mr.Anand Buddhikot compeered the programme and Dr. Jayashri Bangali proposed vote of thanks.

“ You cannot survive without soft skills in the competitive world.” - Mrs. Malati Kalmadi




A week long Soft Skill Development Programme (SSDP) was held at Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce for third year students of all departments from 10 to 17 August, 2017.  Many renowned accomplished professionals and trainers were invited to educate students on Different Soft Skills to help them become more employable in today’s competitive job market.  The Valedictory function of the programme was held on 17th August 2017 in the presence of MRs. Malati Kalmadi, Secretary, Kannada Sangha, Pune, Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal Kaveri College and Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice Principal, Kaveri College.


In his welcome Speech Dr. Kharosekar made students aware of the grim job market and future challenges which the will face in the competitive world. He informed that nearly 2 Lakh IT professionals will lose job this year and nearly half of the work force in It services will be “irrelevant” over the next 3-4 years. He said that in such times of layoffs and shrinking job sector, soft Skills are emerging as the saviors. He urged students to have a dedicated session on soft skills once a week and also encouraged them to inculcate the core behavioral skills learning ability, adaptability, loyalty and creativity etc.

On the occasion the Chief Guest Mrs. Malati Kalmadi interacted with the students and said that new India belongs to the Youth and hence they have a big responsibility on their shoulders to make India a developed country. She insisted that students must hone their soft skills and then accelerate their path towards success. She asked them to inculcate at least one art form and pay attention to their physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.

Mrs. Mohanty presented the detailed report on the weeklong programme. She took the review of lectures by all the invited speakers and also thanked all who worked hard for the successful execution of the programme.


For six days the programme saw renowned professionals and trainers guiding students on various soft skills, which are necessary to survive in the cutthroat competition. Dr. Muckta Karmarkar spoke on How to Stop Procrstination? , Mr. Cedrick D’souza guided students about Transactional Analysis. Ms. Supriya Shetty conducted her session on Power of Subconscious and Positive Thinking, Mr. Munir Damani on Communication Skills, Ms. Bhakti Karkare on Personal Interviews, Dr. Shirish Limaye on Business and Ethics, and Ms. Sonal Bavadekar on Self Awareness.


About 85 students participated in the program and some of them shared their experience by giving PPT presentation. Mrs. Malati Kalmadi distributed certificates to the students for attending the programme.

Mrs. Priya Deshmukh compered the program and Mrs. Chaitra Uchil presented the vote of thanks.

A six day Soft Skill Development Programme (SSDP) is organized at Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce from 10th August to 17 to August 2017. The programme is organized in association with Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) under Kaveri Skill Development Centre (KSDC) for all third year students of BCA, BBA, B.Com, B.Sc.(CS), and BA. The programme was inaugurated at the hands of Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College. Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice-Principal, Kaveri College and Head, KSDC, staff members and students were present on the occasion.

Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty gave a brief introduction about the workshop and its upcoming sessions. She said that one has to come out of one’s comfort zone and strive hard for excellence and Soft Skills help achieve that excellence. Dr. S.B. Kharosekar in his inaugural speech guided the students on the role and importance of such programmes for their overall development  and appealed them to enrich their knowledge by using such platforms provided by the college.

Further, in his session ‘Keys to Success’ Dr. Kharosekar, asked students to do SWOC analysis and identify their strengths and weaknesses and work upon them to become a better and successful human beings. He said students should observe and try to imbibe the qualities of the great achievers and visionaries of the society. He asked students to broaden their vision, look inside, dream high, accept challenges, think out-of-the-box and remove inferiority complex.
Dr. Kharosekar pointed out that both, the Soft Skill as well as Hard Skills are required to achieve one’s goals in life. “Identify your goals and come out of your comfort zone to achieve them,” said Dr. Kharosekar. He also shared many challenging incidents of his life and inspired students to take decisions, sticking to them, and working on them relentlessly to succeed in the competitive world. 


The Programme received an overwhelming response by students. Ms. Soniya Kumbhojkar compered the programme and Mrs. Manasi Joshi proposed the vote of thanks.

In coming days eminent speakers from different fields are invited to conduct various sessions.

PICT and PVGCoET win Inter Collegiate Table Tennis Tournament-2017 held at Kaveri College, Pune



Pune Institute of Computer Technology (PICT) and  Pune Vidyarthi Griha’s College of Engineering & Technology (PVGCoET) won the first place in Women’s and Men's Inter Collegiate Table Tennis Tournament respectively.  The tournament was organized by Kannada Sangha Pune’s Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Pune in association with Savitribai Phule Pune University and Pune City Divisional Sports Committee.


This year the tournament received stupendous response from the participants with about 48 teams participating. There were 31 teams of boys and 18 teams of girls with 5 players in each team. The three day Tournament was inaugurated by Dr. Vijay.P. Narkhede Joint Director, Higher Education, Pune Region, Pune. Hon. Mr.B.Baburao, Treasurer, Kannada Sangha presided over the function. Dr. Mohan Amrule, Mr.Chandrahas Shetty,Trustee Kannada Sangha, Mrs. Radhika Sharma Trustee  Kannada Sangha  , Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College, Mr.Ramdas Acharya, PRO Kannada Sangha, Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice-Principal, Kaveri College, Mr. Rohit Thambe, Director,Physical Education also graced the inauguration ceremony.



In Women’s category Priyanka Tamhankar, Pratima Damle, Surabhi Patil won their respective matches and were declared the winners. In Men’s game, Smt. Kashibai Navale College of Engineering stood runners up whereas Vishwakarma Institute of Tecnology secured the Third position. Rohan Kulkarni, Jairaj Patwardhan, and Shubhankar Revanikar , Priyanka Tamankar, Pratima Damle, and Surabhi Patil were declared the winners.

Dr. S. B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College presented the trophies to the winners.  Prof. Ayyaz Shaikh, Divisional Secretary, Akshay Kashid, Dr. Mohan Amrole, Prof. Anjushree Sawant, Dr. Asha Bengale, Prof. P.G. Dhanve, Prof. Aniruddh Sharma, Prof.  Tushar Gujar, Prof. Dushyant Nimbalkar, Prof. Madhukar Pandakar were also present on the occasion. Big Response to Inter College Table Tennis Tournament 2017-18 at Kaveri College




Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri College of Science & Commerce in association with Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and Pune City Zone Sports Committee jointly organizes Men and Women inter college Table Tennis Tournament from 3rd August to 5th August 2017.The inauguration of this event was held at Shakuntala Jaganath Shetty Auditorium. In a stupendous response to the competition, this year 31 teams of boys and 18 teams of girls with 5 players in each team are participating in the competition.
Dr. Vijay.P. Narkhede Joint Director, Higher Education, Pune Region, Pune inaugurated the event. Hon. Mr.B.Baburao, Treasurer, Kannada Sangha presided over the function. Dr. Mohan Amrule, Mr.Chandrahas Shetty,Trustee Kannada Sangha, Mrs. Radhika Sharma Trustee  Kannada Sangha  , Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College, Mr.Ramdas Acharya, PRO Kannada Sangha, Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice-Principal, Kaveri College, Mr. Rohit Thambe, Director,Physical Education, Heads of other Kaveri group of Institutes, participants, staff and students were present on this occasion. The inauguration ceremony began with lighting the lamp.

Dr. S.B. Kharosekar welcomed the gathering. He highlighted the importance of sports in human life and encouraged students to engage in at least one sports activity. He asserted that great achievements come our way when we maintain our physical and mental well-being. He thanked chairman, Pune City Zonal Sports Committee for giving Kaveri College the opportunity to conduct this huge event.


Dr. Vijay.P. Narkhede in his speech spoke about the importance of sports and its impact on the mind and the body. He lamented that today’s youth is drifting away from outdoor games and is busing itself in computer and mobile games. To get the youth back to games and sports, he said, we need to have better infrastructure and playgrounds. Furthermore, he emphasized on outdoor games which helps in Team building, leadership skills sportiveness, competitiveness and confidence building. He formally inaugurated the program at the table tennis hall. Mr.Rohit Tambe, Director, Physical education was felicitated at the hands of Mr. Mohan Aagole

Kaveri College conducts ‘BaateiN Entrepreneurs ki,’ an initiative for the students by the students






It is said that real learning happens when students become entrepreneurs. It was a proud moment for Kaveri College when two former students Mr. Punit Joshi and Ms. Shibani Deodhar visited the College as young successful entrepreneurs. They were invited to participate the talk-show, ‘BaateiN Entrepreneurs Ki,’ a brainchild of Kaveri Entrepreneurs Development Centre’s (KEDC), which honors the student entrepreneurs of Kaveri College and invite them to share their experiences with students.  KEDC is established to develop entrepreneurial skills among students and help them become successful entrepreneurs. Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College, Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty, Vice Principal and Mrs. Deepa Sathe, Head, KEDC were present on the occasion.


Dr. S.B. Kharosekar praised the idea of the Talk-Show and hoped that this initiative will encourage students to see themselves as leaders and achievers in the society. He appreciated KEDC for coming up with innovative ideas to inspire students to become successful entrepreneurs.




Mr. Punit Joshi, a former Commerce student runs Parker Shirts and Trousers, a company which was established in 1989 by his parents.  Today Parker brand is manufactured in five production units and sold through 30 exclusive outlets in and around Maharashtra. Ms. Shibani Deodhar, a former student of Kaveri College started her own venture Sweet Aroma which provides delicious and attractive cakes only by order. Both the students shared their experience as entrepreneurs and playfully answered all the queries from the audience.

“Mind set is the key for any successful business,” Said Punit and elaborated on how traditional values and business ethics help him sustain the competitive world. He said his company strives hard to provide good quality menswear at affordable prices and earn good response from customers all over.



Making delicious cakes was Shibani’s hobby and she turned it into a successful business. An alumni of Kaveri College, she said, “I made my first cake when I was in SY BCOM.”  She talked about the challenges in the confectionary industry such as heavy competition, varied demands of customers, complacent creativity etc. She fondly remembers when veteran actor Jackie Shroff encouraged her by praising her bakery skills. She plans to come up with range of sugar free cakes and other bakery stuff for diabetic customers.
