The Advisory members of ISDM, Bengaluru visit Kaveri College.



The advisory members of Indian School of Development (ISDM), Bengaluru, visited Kaveri College on 20th December 2016. They were invited to deliver a guest lecture on ‘Careers in Development Management’ organized by the Vocational Guidance Centre of the College.
Ms.Sayee Kulkarni, member, Vocational Guidance Centre welcomed the guest speakers and informed the audience that the Vocational Guidance Center has been established in the College to enhance the employability of the students and to offer assistance in preparing to choose, change and adjust to occupational life.
In his introductory speech Dr.S.B.Kharosekar, Principal, introduced ISDM, as the pioneering institute in India in the discipline of development management. He appreciated the institute for introducing the easy professional courses in creating good leaders and managers in the development sector. He said the courses at ISDM will provide post-graduate students a bright future as they will be skilled to work in national and international NGOs, Aid-agencies, Corporate Social Responsibility, Social enterprises, and also become successful entrepreneurs. 
Mr. Sreedharan, Advisory Member of ISDM, comes from a modest family of Orissa has now a rich experience of 24 long years in the Corporate sector of India. Working with topmost banks in the country, and a much travelled man all over the world, he advised students to believe in themselves and be the competitor to them. Mr. Sreedharan said he is passionate about equity and equal opportunities in society and ISDM is tirelessly working on bringing both in Indian society.  Later he gave details on ISDM, its purpose, course details, Admission process, placement avenues, salary structure etc.



Mr. Gaurav Shah, B.Tech, M.Sc., from BITS, Pilani and MBA from IIM (Ahmedabad) and advisory member of ISDM took questions from the audience and later on interacted with them. He said that ISDM works to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the individuals and match them with the job requirements and promote self-employment.
The lecture received a huge response from the students of the college. Mrs. Malati Kalamadi, Secretary, Kannada Sangha Pune, and Mr. Prashant Kothadiya, Consultant, Azim Premjee University of Pune helped organize this event.
The program was compered by Ms. Sayee Kulkarni and she also proposed vote of thanks.

“Vocational Guidance program on Career opportunities in Army held at Kaveri College”



Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce under Vocational guidance cell has organized a program on “Career opportunities in Army” by Lt.Col. Navin Bendre on Tuesday, 13th December 2016. Ms.Pallavi Joshi Coordinator Vocational guidance cell welcomed everyone present and felicitated Lt.col Navin Bendre.

Career in Indian Army has not only provides a great opportunity to serve the nation but also help evolve as a human being. Lt. Col.  Navin Bendre in his speech informed students about various career opportunities in Armed Forces and inspired them to be a part of Indian Army on individual level. It is a career that offers immense facilities, a privileged lifestyle and of course, honor in serving the country. He said joining army doesn’t mean just being on the battle front but also avail its other services to contribute towards the nation. He made students aware of the basic requirements to enroll in the Army services such as physical fitness, discipline, leadership skills, team building, patience, integrity, dedication and emotional stability. He also informed that students can join army as commissioned officers on permanent commissioned officers as well as short service commissioned officers.
Lt. Col. Bendre informed students about the various entrances exams such as WAT, TAT, CDS etc through which they can join army. He encouraged students to make a resolve to work with Army and achieve big in serving the nation

“Special winter camp of NSS Unit of Kaveri College”





The NSS unit of Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce organized the seven-day Special Winter Camp of at Kasar Amboli, Tal. Mulshi, Dist. Pune from 4th December 2016 to 10th December 2016. A group of volunteers of National Service Scheme unit of the college attended the seven-day Special Winter Camp which was inaugurated in the hands of Shri Mahadev Anna Kondhare, Chairman, Panchayat Samiti, Mulshi.
Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce, presided over the function. Dr. Jayashree Bangali coordinator,science faculty, Mr. Anand Buddhikot, NSS Programme Officer, Mr. Sachin Deokate, Asst. Program Officer, Mrs. Meena Shinde, Sarpanch of the Village, Mr. Suresh Sutar, Upsarpanch, Mr. Umesh Sutar, Ex- Upasarpanch, Mr. S.N. Gundale, Gramsevak, Mrs. Shraddhali sutar, Mrs. Chayya Bhilare, Mr. Mohan Shinde, Mr. Sachin Dhumal, Mr. Mahesh Mankar, members of the Grampanchayat, along with other villagers, faculty members of the college and all NSS Volunteers were present on this occasion. The inauguration began with Sarawati Poojan and Deep Prajwalan. Mr. Buddhikot welcomed the dignitaries and all others present for the inauguration function and explained the purpose of the camp. 
Many guest lectures were arranged during the camp. Mr. Vasant Gokhale conducted a lecture on ‘Sakaratmak Drushtikon’ and Sarpamitra Mr. Sharad Gund conducted the lecture on ‘Misconceptions about snakes’. Mr. R.V. Vidap interacted with the students on the topic ‘Sports- a field of apportunities’ and ‘Hridayanubhuti’.  A lecture on ‘AIDS Awareness’ was conducted by Manavya Sanstha and a session about Sahajyoga was arranged by Sahajyoga Parivar, Pune. Mr. Sachin Deokate conducted the session on ‘Financial Planning- a need of the hour’ and Mrs. Chhaya Bhilare informed the students about Self Help Groups during her session. Mr. Anand Buddhikot conducted lectures on the topics of ‘Leadership Styles, Swatah Badala Nahitar Sanharala Samore Ja, Opportunities in NSS and Camps arranged by NSS unit of the University. The volunteers undertook various activities related to Environmental Awareness, Cleanliness Campaign, Rain water harvesting, Trees conservation and Surveys during the seven days camp. Also they arranged  haldi kumkum programme for the women    and activities for the school children. The street plays were conducted about cleanliness awareness in Sutarwadi, Kasarwadi and Mankarwadi. 
The valedictory function of the camp took place on 10th Dec, 2016. Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal of the college, Mr.Atul Kulkarni, NSS Regional Co-ordinator and Chief Guest of the function,  Dr. Jayashree Bangali, IQAC Head, Mr. Anand Buddhikot, NSS PO, Mr. Sunil Chandere, Mr. Sunil Mankar, Mr. Mauli Kamble, Mr. Ramdas Mankar and Mr. Sagar Dhumal were present on this occasion. Also, Mrs. Meena Shinde, Sarpanch of the Village, Mrs. Shraddhali Sutar, Mrs. Suvarna Marne, Mrs. Chayya Bhilare, Mr. Sachin Dhumal, Mr. Mahesh Mankar and Mrs. Asha Landage, Social Worker were also present. Mr. Buddhikot presented a review of the seven days camp. Volunteers expressed their experience of the camp. In his presidential address, Dr, Kharosekar congratulated Mr. S.N. Gundale, Gramsevak for the village being awarded with Nirmal Gram Award and ISO Certification. Also he praised NSS  unit of the college and Mr. Anand Buddhikot for being awarded with Best NSS Unit Award and Best NSS Program Officer Award respectively. Mr. Atul Kulkarni said that the credit of this award goes to the volunteers of the college. He also highlighted the importance of NSS camps and quoted his expectations of the volunteers contributions to such camps. 
Mr. Buddhikot proposed the vote of thanks and the programme was compeered by Ms. Harshada Khaladkar, student of the college.  The programme concluded with recital of vandemataram.

Kaveri Skill Development Centre organizes Presentation by ICICI Academy for Skills



Kaveri College of Arts, Science and Commerce under Kaveri Skill Development Centre (KSDC) had organized a presentation by ICICI Academy for skills on 2nd December 2016. ICICI Academy for skills works with the youth with an aim to equip them with the required skill sets needed to make them employable. 

The Coordinator of KSDC and Vice Principal, Mrs. Suchismita Mohanty in her welcome speech informed that KSDC is established in order to enhance various skills of students and make them job ready. The presentation by ICICI Academy was one step forward towards fulfilling the goal set by KSDC.  Mr. Sushil Dhwandkar of ICICI Academy for skills in his presentation made students aware of the initiatives and courses of the Academy.

Dr. S.B. Kharosekar, Principal, felicitated Mr. Sushil Dhawandkar and in his speech praised the initiatives of ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth in launching ICICI Academy for skills. He said, the academy is doing a great service in providing livelihoods to the youth and thereby ensuring their effective participation in the growth of the country. Dr. Kharosekar urged students to avail the facility provided by the Academy which is educating students with its state of the art facilities and best of vocational training.  

Mr. Sushil Dhawandkar  informed students about the courses offered by the Academy. He informed that the academy offers varied vocational skill building programs on a pro-bono basis. The trainings focus on industry-relevant and practical aspects to make the youth employable for the industry. In addition, training is also provided on communication skills, financial literacy and how to adapt to an organized working environment.
Three students from Kaveri College who had opted for the courses at the Academy also shared their experiences with the students.
